The POST - Family Resort in Unken is Austria's first family hotel with its own thermal bath and is located only 35 km away of Salzburg's city center. The great mixture of nature, activities and relaxation is a perfect foundation for families to enjoy the holidays to the maximum. Due to a high variety of programs, the hotel is great for babies, kids and teenies as well as for adults.
Perfect family trip, worth every penny. Beautiful mountain valley nature surroundings in Austria. Excellent food, pool facilities, kids club, staff, personal touches everywhere. No complaints about anything. Staff really care about their jobs and you can tell there are some long-timers that have been working there for years. As an english-speaking family, we were a little concerned as the clientele is mostly German but were able to navigate everything just fine. Great for all ages, probably most enjoyable for ages 3-12. Recommend the suites. Loved supporting an independent, family-owned resort rather than a big characterless chain, will back!

Had a very pleasant 4 day stay here late May. Not in town so you would be better off here if you have a car but having said that, the small village of Unken is only a 10 or so minute walk away. Stayed on my own and had a nice double room. Hotel comes with half pension (breakfast and dinner) and the food was of good quality. Nice cake collection for the afternoon and it was pleasant sitting on the back terrace in the sun. Plenty of parking and the hotel is in a forest setting next to a mountain and hiking paths are from the front door. Wonderful views all around. Staff efficient and friendly and the hotel is part of the Landhotel group. The surrounding area is worthwhile of exploration including excursions to Koenigsee and Berchtesgaden in Germany as well as to Salzburg and Lofer in Austria. You get a tourist card in summer which gives you free bus transport to Salzburg as well as to other destinations. Free gondola rides for those in operation in the area as well. Reasonable value for what you get. Highly recommended.

In a beautiful high valley (1000 m above sea level), the hay valley/Heutal, only half an hour away from Salzburg Airport you will find our hotel and restaurant Heutaler Hof. Embeded in an idyllic mountain landscape the valley offers everything an active sportler could wish for - in summer hiking, mountain biking and e-biking and swimming in our natural pond, in winter we offer cross-country skiing, snow shoe hiking, skiing, ski touring, all for beginners as well as experienced sportsmen. Archery is our biggest hobby - our 3D parcours and FITA/WA court (up to 90m) is open all year round and for our house gueasts for free. Breakfast is included.
Great hotel. We booked a family room, which was a perfect option for us (we’re a family of 4) Our view was amazing and our balcony was approximately 18m long. The food was awesome. Quite “heavy” meals and I missed vegetables on the menu. But all homemade and very tasty. Can’t fault it. Beautiful local wine. Very reasonable prices. A short walk to beautiful views, waterfall, mountains etc. very green. We would love to come back here one day. Very peaceful. The staff were so welcoming and friendly. The man who owns the hotel, his daughter and her friend spoke English very well. Highly recommend

Very good place to hide away from the crowds. Beautiful countryside and mountains, including wildlife.Very friendly and helpful host. The place is a bit difficult to find - so better call the hosts beforehand. The place has a good internet connection, but the mobile phone is less useful.

The hotel is located near to ski resorts and has quite good location. Generally the food is really good, however food availability at breakfast could be better - for example, during our stay, we had to wait for fried and scrambled eggs - trays were almost always empty, then a waiter brought 6 (!) eggs from kitchen, and after 2-3 people they were gone, another batch (again of 6 eggs) arrived in 5+ minutes. Fortunately, dinners were great - not a big choice (like a couple of options), but very tasty and fresh. May be too salty - for people who care about its health and limits amount of consumed salt it could be an issue. Rooms are small and hotel clearly says it at their web site and I can't complain the size of my room, however I never saw such a narrow bed (160 cm or even smaller) in 4 stars hotel. My biggest disappointment is that I found huge amount of a black mold in my room (see pictures). Most of it were located just behind a curtain, I found it eventually when moved the curtain and immediately went to a reception. It was late at night and nobody was there and could help me. For me it’s a serious problem, because I have an allergy (especially for the black mold) and also suffering from asthma. Later I found the mold in other places in my room and it was extremely disgusting. Next morning went again to reception, a lady at reception did not speak English, fortunately with help of my friends the issue was translated, but she did not offer any solution, saying that they could move me to much more expensive room at my own costs or to wait while a boss could find alternatives. In a couple of hours, I contacted the reception again (because nobody gave me any additional info) and another lady said that she knew the issue and in another few hours we were able to relocate to the same type of the room, hopefully without a black mold. What’s interesting the second lady were surprised that the mold was found, I invited her to my room because it’ completely impossible not no see the mold during cleaning. The only reason why the mold could be undiscovered – they never wash curtains, and that in turns creates another problem for allergy suffers. It was room #4, so please be aware of this room, it’s really dangerous for the health to stay in this room before it’s fully redecorated, with carpet change etc. So, I stayed in the such dangerous fro me room for 3 days and at checkout I had to pay full price, the hotel did not give any compensations, and nobody apologized for the issue or even said “we are sorry”. Totally dissatisfied and never faced such approach from hotel stuff. From positive side – the hotel offers good wellness area, however it’s pretty small. The biggest sauna is located outside of the building, but it won’t be comfortable to stay in sauna for more that 5 people at the same time. What’s more important, windows in the sauna have metal handles. And they are located at shoulders level and not covered or protected at all! Can you imagine metallic parts in the sauna where the temperature goes 80+ degrees? I eventually touched one of handles with my shoulder and got a quite serious burn! I am absolutely sure, that my case was not the first one – uncovered metallic handles in the sauna create hazard situation and it’s just a matter of time and luck (not) to be injured by that handles.

We stayed here a midweek beginning of March 2019, the hostess Claudia is very friendly and helpful. The rooms are very tidy and clean. The location is perfect to try out different ski areas and day trips to for example Salzburg. My wife and 2 kids aged 9 and 10 very much enjoyed our stay and would definitely come back again next year.

We spent here 4 beautiful days, the guest house is a family business, very nice and warm people. The small pension has amazing landscape to the Alps, simply overwhelming if you love nature and mountains. Restaurants, cafes are close either in the center of this small town or in vicinity Lofer, Salzburg, Konig See, Wolfgang See are 30-40 minutes distance from Helga. Definitely recommend this place to anyone. Oh and breakfast is like at home all fresh and prepared on the spot.

After arriving with my bicycle the landlady welcomed me to her small hotel and showed the way to the bike room and then to my to my room. I followed her recommendation and had dinner down in the cosy wooden reastaurant along with other families on vacation there already. My room also had a large balcony and the hotel lies in the very quiet high valley of Heutal from which I could continue after the good breakfast the next morning on forest paths to Germany with my bicycle again.
