I may be partial to Espresso Yourself, as it has been around for a food number of years now. I have had friends as baristas there and I see the tradition of employing local high school students is still alive.
Always professional, but very small town mentality. The sandwiches are quite yummy, and overall menu offered gives great variety for a coffee shop. Bistro style menu, great coffee , quaint and charming atmosphere and friendly, professional staff.
Espresso Yourself may hold a special place in my heart and childhood, but they do a great job of keeping the locals happy.

We made advanced reservations for a holiday luncheon. Ordered off the regular lunch menu. Several guests had eaten here before and had a favorite. I love the peanut sauce over spinach with Pad Thai on the lunch combo. (Rama Chicken) Everyone's food was served hot and all enjoyed their selection. Ample servings. Beautifully decorated Thai Restaurant with some extra holiday touches. We were welcomed and seated immediately. We were served promptly. The food was delicious. And we had so much fun!

This little grocery store has fabulous produce and meat counter. I have Whole Foods up the street but 9 of 10 times I'm shopping harbor greens instead. When they have deals on fruit grab a flat and freeze some and eat some right away. Best of all the people are always friendly and helpful.

Currently moving to Freighthouse Station, Hoping to be open mid March or so, will update asap with dates and times :)
The pictures others have posted tell the story. This place is so beautiful and quaint it reminded me of going to my grandmothers, but it was so regal. Teri has put a lot of love and care into the design of this cafe and you can feel that as soon as you walk in. The food, tea and service was amazing. We're already planning for Mother's Day and tea party get togethers as this establishment has all the fixings for a grand time. I must say the Egg salad sandwich and Ruben are worth it. Everything is homemade and done well. A great place to visit if you're in the Tacoma area! Support small businesses! And this one is well worth it.

This is the original location of the Forza Coffee Company and we've been coming here for about 15 years. While small, they have a cozy seating area that will hold maybe 20 people max. They have a nice selection of novelty coffee drinks (my fav is the Tuscany Toffee) as well as a very excellent cold brew they call Nitro. They have a decent selection of foods: some sandwiches, some sweets.
The baristas here have been consistently good over the years. Also - they have a drive through! One of the better coffee shops in University Place.

This place is dirty. The kids play area is a great idea but it's dirty. I'm not a germ a phobe, but the kids toys were brown scum dirty. The tables were dirty. Also, I changed my sons diaper in the restroom. There was a sign saying not to throw away his diapers in the garbage in the bathroom, but to place it in a bag (bag receptacle was empty and full of used wipes) and throw it away in a garbage can outside. Seriously?!?! You can't provide a garbage can in the restroom of a children's play area?

The best burger joint on the West side and top 5 in Tacoma. Try the frings, fries and rings and their sauce. Great outside seating with umbrellas for shade for the 15 days of sun we get.

We read reviews and wanted something quick and fresh and this was not it. They were out of Falafel (HOW? WHY? UGH!) and the veggie gyro had two pieces of veggies on it (HOW? WHY!?!) and the sauce was not good. Very disappointed.

Sizzle and smoke define Asado Cucina Argentina, the South Sound's only Argentine-themed steakhouse and a staple restaurant of the trendy Sixth Avenue dining district. Heady smoke wafts from the display kitchen where chefs sear beef over a mesquite grill. Low lighting is moody by night, bright and beautiful by day because of the expansive garage doors that roll up in the summertime, spilling diners onto Sixth Avenue. A mural evokes pastoral Argentina. Metalwork and heavy doses of deep-hued wood create a rustic urban palette. Social by design, with a large chef's table straddling the display kitchen. Bench booth seating connects diners to neighbors, but without being overly intrusive. The word "asado" means a gathering of friends for a grill party - the Argentine equivalent of an American patio barbecue - and that theme translates into a convivial gathering spot for friends and family. A steakhouse with a flavor-forward menu with preparations licked with smoke and sophistication.
Casual, comfortable ambience. Excellent, attentive service. A menu which offers something for almost everyone. We had the three starter mix which allowed us to choose any three starters from the menu. All were very good. Entrees were also delicious and tasty, the exception being the mixed grill which two of our party ordered. We agreed that beef skewers were very good but the chorizo sausage seemed dry, possibly overdone and the grilled shrimp unremarkable. Others in our party raved about their choices (grilled pork belly and hanger steak). A bit odd that our veggie side was brought to the table several minutes before our entrees were served, thus getting cold. Still, I would not hesitate to recommend Asado to anyone who loves grilled food.

My wife and I went here years ago when it first opened, and the service was extremely slow. This month we went back, and it was entirely different. The food and service were both superb. Actually there was one thing that had not changed: the...MoreWe are pleased to read that you had an enjoyable experience and will pass along your feedback to Ricky and our kitchen crew.
