Visited yesterday as hadnât tried this place for lunch and seen the good reviews. There was butter on every table which was warm so I was expecting some bread. Nope just warm butter. Portions are tiny for big prices. A ramekin dish of chips totalled about 6 chips (who does that!) and a really dry burger we had to send back. Didnât bother ordering another. Wonât be back.

Recently went for lunch to this quaint warm cosy hotelThe service and food was excellent could not be faulted. Great variety of food with wonderful flavours would recommend the Scallops and the Duck followed by the delightful chocolate desert simply Scrumptious!Very professional service by the two young ladies serving the day we were there they were a credit to the hotel!Excellent value - 3 wonderful tasty courses for £31.95 all cooked to perfection to restaurant qualityWill definitely return and would recommend a visit, you will not be disappointed!

The girlfriend and I popped in after running around town.The waiter (I think his name was Jonny) was very welcoming and a delightThe food was at a high quality and the prices were so cheap.We went to leave but weâre asked by the waiter to hold on a second. He came out with complimentary cheesecake which was to die forIt goes without saying we will be back soon

This place is absolutely lovely, we have visited several times and it never disappoints. The staff were wonderful and very welcoming in what is a very relaxed atmosphere. The food was divine as always and we felt very looked after throughout the evening. They catered for our dietary needs (vegetarian) wonderfully. Iâd definitely recommend. A âmustâ for whoever visits Somerset. Beautiful gardens to explore in the summer and roaring fires inside in the winter. Always a little sad to leave but know weâll return soon.

We popped in for lunch and had two courses for approx £7 per person - we didn't even realise we'd paid for a dessert until the waitress reappeared with the dessert menu. This is a quiet place mostly favoured by older people (at least, that's how it seemed the day we were here) and both staff and other customers were friendly.

I came here with my family (2 teenage boys). The restaurant is quirky, welcoming and friendly. (Not pretentious). Staff are really nice and friendly. Alex and his wife Patrizia have a real passion for their business and food. The menu is chosen of the day. He discussed the food choices and ingredients at the table. The quality of the food is just fantastic.Heavenly. Wonderful. You are not rushed in anyway shape or form. You can play games between courses. If you are in the area, you have to visit.A pure diamond.

We have driven past this restaurant on a number of occasions and eventually had an opportunity to stop. We were not disappointed. Friendly Italian staff, great pizza and good penne. Very good value . Hope to be able to go again sometime soon.

This is a local pub with a warm welcome and friendly locals. I stayed 6 nights and was reasonably happy.The welcome and warmth from Paul could not be faulted.I also had an evening meal which was excellent. The evening meals I saw at other tables looked equally as good. The waitresses were young, and didn't look up or around as they went through the dining area. I never managed to get their attention. I never got a sweet or coffeeThe room was also reasonable. It was quite quiet, save the footfall outside, amplified by loose slabs or maybe the manhole cover. I also got to listen to skittles one night. Coffee in the morning was good, breakfast less so. Deep fried Sausages & mushrooms ~ a bit greasy for my liking, better Sausages are also needed. The milk jug came with "days old" milk/cream around the rim. OOPS. My only real area of concern was the shower which is dire need of maintenance & "house keeping". It became obvious that my room wasn't cleaned everyday ~ just the bed was remade, water staining within the shower & rubbish still in the bin are a bug giveaway. On one day, the room wasn't touched at all.Maintenance, housekeeping and a budget breakfast let the side down.Thank you for taking the time to write this review, apologies that it has taken so long to respond but we hadn't actually seen it. Really pleased that your evening meals were excellent, shame that you wasn't looked after as good as you should have been by the waitress but we did have one particular waitress, that is no longer with us, that was very new and not suited to the job. Our bathrooms have recently been refurbished, new sealant, some of the light fittings changed and bathroom walls repainted. The rest of the rooms are to be painted over the new few weeks. Sadly the bathrooms did get, as you say, dire ! Alot worse than I had known about - but happily they are now sorted ! Hope that this will not stop you from staying with us again.

This restaurant should feature in the Good Food Guide as a 'Little Gem'. This would be a really good stop off en route up or down the A303 if you have time; I note they do breakfasts, lunches and dinner. We were there for dinner and really enjoyed a 3 course meal for 2 of us - some interesting and tasty things to choose on the menu, particularly tasty were the croquettes, asparagus and swordfish. Leave room for cheesecake - delicious!
