First time here. The layout is literally like,I imagine, Johnâs house to be like. We had a beaut glass of red in the bar with 3 complimentary canapes. We then were taken upstairs for the 7 course tasting menu. The food was divine. We are âfoodiesâ who like good food, wine and service. If I had to be picky, I would say that service could be improved marginally by asking us how we were, if we were there for a special occasion, basically being a bit more personable. But this is nit picking, we really did enjoy our evening and my sister has now booked due to our recommendation.

The Nag's Head at Castle Donington has been under new management since March 2019 and we offer a good selection of home-cooked food at a reasonable price, we have a function room available for private parties and have a nice cosy snug room on the side of
Lovely people but disappointed with the food. Husband had gammon and egg but the eggs were over cooked. The homemade chips were very soggy, so he didnât eat them. I had a Cajun chicken salad, chicken was cooked well but the Cajun spice was a little bland. Having paid almost £11 for the salad I was a little underwhelmed that it was just lettuce, cucumber and tomatoes ( with a little bit of red onion). it would have improved it greatly by adding some more salad veg, peppers, beetroot coleslaw? Anything really to improve on a very basic salad. The music was also very loud.

Excellent atmosphere, with smart and very attentive staff. I was welcomed and shown to my table. The atmosphere and general decor appears to have been updated since my last stay. The starter of Cornish sardines was pleasant except for the âbreaded brickâ that almost broke my tooth! This little episode was redeemed by the beef bavette, which was very tasty. The following morning I had a very passable breakfast, once again supported by very attentive staff. Yes Iâll be back but will skip the Cornish Sardine!

2nd visit to this rejuvanated pub only called in because we had such a terrible afternoon tea just across the road at the donington manor hotel which I would not recommend. The castle pub is very vibrant and has a good mix of clientele nice selection of beers the food we four had was excellent no complaints from anyone. The young staff are very polite and very hardworking we still didn't see the much admired roof terrace as we were enjoying ourselves in the bar maybe on our 3rd visit we will check it out.I would highly recommended a visit to this lovely pub I just wish I lived nearer.Top Mark's to all the Staff you are very good at what you do.please don't change

This was our first visit with friends for an evening meal to celebrate my birthday. The welcome was very friendly; the service was quick and efficient; the meals were excellent (my wife is Gluten Free and her diet did not cause any problems); and the portions were more than ample. This mea was a real birthday treat.

Browns Lane has a stylish bar with a relaxed feel, and a restaurant that offers high quality freshly prepared cuisine. Imaginative cocktails to perfectly chilled champagne, freshly prepared lunchtime snack menus to the sumptuous specials board, create a p
Beautifully decorated, nice staff, good value for money. Food looked really good on appearance had the scallops and mixed bread to start which were both nice! The BL burger and ribeye steak for main. There was quite a few items off the menu. The burger bun was rock hard and inedible and the steak was less than blue when Iâd asked for rare. It was cold in the middle! The peppercorn and mushroom and Stilton sauces were amazing. The Pomme Anna had little to no flavour. I told the staff and she wanted to give us money off the bill but we said no as the rest of our meal and drinks were good. So she brought us out some pudding instead. The sticky toffee pudding and creme brûlée both amazing! The restaurant was air-conditioned and really beautiful. We probably would go back yes just not regularly.

We went for a girly catch up. One of our party had been before but I hadnât. The menu looked promising but it actually delivered. Wow. Just yummy. I had the âsurf and turfâ which was fillet steak and prawns/mussels. Yum. Loved it. My type of food. The house wine was tip too too

Stayed here for 2 nights - very nice welcome from the staff - big room and very clean with good facilities. The only slight downside was that having a ground floor room means that you have to suffer from the noise of the footsteps of people above yo. Would stay again

I wouldn't say that there is anything extraordinarily exceptional about this restaurant but then again it doesn't set itself out to be anything other than a good local, restaurant. Food is good and tasty, well-presented, nice quality, reasonably price - I was not disappointed. My only criticism is that it was a bit noisy as a lot of the tables were for large groups and the waiting staff didn't seem particularly knowledgeable and were not overly attentive. Would return but am not in a rush to do so.
