Can never fault this place for great food, good service and a relaxing ambience. Every time myself or my wife visit here it's always wonderful. The setting is cosy and quiet but still only yards from the town centre. Staff always make a place and this is a perfect example with cheery polite folk who will help in any way if required with variations on the menu.Dear Lewis, Thank you so much for this fantastic review. We feel we have a lovely team and itâs great to be appreciated. Thanks for your continued support. We hope to see you again soon. Please let us know who you are, next time you call in, so we can say thank you in person.

Attended a meeting in Draycott and we took over the whole place at lunch. The place itself was very quirky and the staff very friendly and courteous. The food was very well presented, tasty and plenty of it!! Seconds if required. It was a very relaxed and comfortable experience and would have no hesitation in recommending it to anyone.

It was the oasis that I'd been searching for, especially when offering hot foot. Unfortunately, that feeling promptly dissipated. "we've plenty of sandwiches", " a mushroom soup if you like", "or we can still try and do something off the breakfast menu".I ordered double egg with beans on toast and a mug of tea. The first disappointment was the 'half' cup of tea (see photo), the second, the single spoonful of beans (see photo) but the biggest shock was the price..... £7.50!. With my slice of Bakewell I paid £10. In hindsight I wish I'd carried on into Ashby (see my other review/s for what a decent portion should like). When I write these reviews I work on feeling. I came out of there feeling ripped off. I give an 'average' rating of three stars rather than two because I like to err on the generous side. The place was clean and tidy. The staff, or at least one of them, was smiley and, I suspect it's hard trying make a go of a business like this.I appreciate that reviews count but I can't be dishonest to myself.Sort your prices out (do you really need three staff) and it could be a decent place.

First, a confession. I am a bit obsessive about cheese scones. The blame for this lies with my daughter-in-lawâs mother, J, who bakes a perfect cheese scone. Consequently, every NT property tea room and similar establishment that bakes and sells cheese scones that I visit has its cheese scones rated on a 1 to 10 scale that has Jâs level of perfection at the very top. Suffice it to say that almost never has this near impossible target been reached. A crunchy, cheesy outside (not too hard), a fluffy inside, a clean taste without excess soda, not too dry, not bready. Rare indeed. The cheese scones baked here (by the lady I had to meet) are amazingly equal to the standard set by J, and she has scored an almost unprecedented 10. Well done indeed. I also had a delicious tomato soup and Stilton cheese to go with this remarkable scone. Donât let the fame go to your head. The tea room itself is really lovely too and the cakes looked really good too. Their coffee wasnât half bad either.

We are a small, licensed, coffee shop in the picturesque town of Melbourne, home to Melbourne Hall and Gardens, only five minutes' drive from Calke Abbey and Staunton Harold. As well as great coffee and a selection of homemade cakes baked daily on site, Ja
This is our second time eating here.Lovely food, I had a ploughman's and asked for gluten free bread. This was really nice and they replaced the pork pie and Branston pickle for alternates. The Mrs had quiche which was nice too. The staff are all really nice and chatty.
