A Saturday morning bike ride with a mid point break at the surf café. Perfect. Without a plan of where to stop for a break during our ride out, we saw the surf café and decided it would be ideal. We planned on getting a drink and a cake but as we were ordering a guy in the kitchen brought out some freshly baked cheese scones. I'm not normally the biggest fan but these did looked really good and as they were warm out of the oven I couldn't resist. I'm so glad I did as it was the best cheese scone I've ever had. You could see the melted cheese stretching as I cut it open and pulled it apart. The coffee and the cakes were spot on too. It has a friendly, relaxed atmosphere and is the perfect place to chill. Top marks all round.

Really just stumbled across this place. Was just looking for a sandwich and saw the menu and went in. Seating is cramped as its very busy but shared a table and it was no bother at all. Ordered 3 different dishes, nicholson crispy bacon sandwich/rice bowl with pork/nicholson steak bowl. Each dish was brilliant, tasty and tangy and filling. Free fruit water was available. Really impressed and will deffo go back.

Went today for afternoon tea with family and have to say, it was really nice, sandwiches scones 3 choices, cheese fruit or cherry and coconut, small cakes and trifle, as much tea or coffee as you wanted, the girls were so friendly and brought out a small cake with candle on as it was 1 of the ladies birthday. I would definitely go back.

At Starks it's all about serving fresh, tasty food using the best ingredients. During the day we serve brunch from 10 - 3pm and a selection of cakes until 5pm. In the evening we set the tables, light the candles and offer a vibrant, seasonal dinner menu.
Every now and again you come across a place where they just got things right and Starks Kitchen is one of those places. The decor is simple, modern, clean and bright with white walls, tasteful prints and a mix of banquette seating and chairs. Two of us went for the veggie Sunday roast while the third went for beef. Dinner took a little way to arrive but was great when it did. I'm not a veggie, but the nut roast was delicious, my wife enjoyed the beef which was tender and cooked just pink. The plates arrived with a good Yorkshire pud, roast potatoes, a quenelle of mashed potato, a quenelle of carrot & swede and of course gravy. A bowl of french beans, cabbage and some mange tout came out for the table plus side of cauliflower cheese.Everything was great, really great. The veg was perfectly cooked and tasty. If I was going to be really picky, the gravy was slightly over seasoned but hey, I don't use a lot of salt!I went for the cheese as a pudding, an excellent cheddar and a soft blue, while my daughter went for the pecan pie.The meal was finished off with a couple of good coffees. We booked for a late Sunday lunch via Open Table on the same day which worked well. All round, a really good experience and I thought, good value.

We were staying at the Premier Inn but decided not to take the breakfast offered there at £9.50 instead tried here after reading reviews. So glad we did. Massive Full Monty breakfast with large coffee for less than it would have cost at hotel. Friendly staff and fab food. Weâll be back on Monday just a pity theyâre closed on a Sunday. Highly recommend.
