Things to do in Mildenhall
Once again, a great Sunday Roast was enjoyed, this time being a generous portion of my choice of roast beef (husband had beef & pork) with an enormous, mountainous Yorkshire Pudding, roast potatoes and a large "help-yourself" dish of perfectly cooked fresh vegetables left at the table, along with coupes of apple sauce and the most amazing zingy horseradish cream ever! The service is friendly and accommodating - and very prompt - and the cafetiere of good coffee and china pot of tea are both enjoyable and sensibly priced. There is always an extensive choice on the dessert menu, (each dish priced at £3.45, I believe), making the whole meal very affordable and a regular option for us. Our two roast dinners, a big jug of iced water with lemon slices & the coffee cost £16.10. We've enjoyed it before and will certainly be back again soon.

We came from Isleham via kayak, how many pubs in the area can you do that with? The garden is large and lovely sitting by the river enjoying a couple of pints in the sun. a family moored up in the large river cruiser kids reading on the front and not using the decent looking play area. We ordered the Ferry Burger from the rather chilled out staff. Given my dietary requirements usually causing confusion, in this case I was pleasantly surprised - no problems! The burger was tasty, chips were excellent. Feeling contented we kayaked back to Isleham. The inside of the pub is huge and so I imagine an atmosphere is hard to get in sleepy village pub and yes, one half of the pub is a bit dated and old fashioned, and yes we can't talk about the carvery as other reviews have, but for a burger at £10 and beer in the garden, couldn't fault it.

An independent cafe, tea rooms and deli, offering freshly made food from local ingredients. Vegan, vegetarian and healthy options available. We also cater for events for up to 200 guests or meetings in the workplace.
Visited here for brunch one quiet Saturday. Staff were friendly but not at all organised. We ordered drinks, which took a little while longer than expected, but no rush. Waitress was not aware of items not available so 2 orders were not available after having ordered. So amended their choices to some time later find that wasnât available either. After an age 2 meals came. No cutlery or condiments or bread for the ploughmanâs platter, which after a while I went and got. After a good time finally the last 2 meals arrived. The overall presentation of the ploughmanâs was disappointing for the price. On paying noticed a nice fat flyng about in the deli counter. I think for a tea and cake this place is great and reasonably priced. Donor recommend for anything more.Hello, I am the owner of the Barleycorn and was so sad to read your review as it is not how we want anyone to experience our lovely little cafe. and we always get lovely feedback and reviews. I have waited to respond after speaking to the staff concerned and get a full picture.Customer service is paramount to us and you truly did not see us at our best and for that I am very sorry. We had experienced a very busy Friday and Saturday morning which due to the Easter bank holiday weekend, meant we had run out of several items on the menu. It happens sometimes and we train our lovely staff to check throughout service to avoid disappointment and be aware of alternatives. I have retrained all staff this week on all the points you mention and would love to invite you back in at another time to see us at our best! even if it is just for a cuppa and a slice of cake! Once again huge apologies x

Been several times for an informal lunch. Really lovely friendly staff, yummy food and great prices. A panini and fruit smoothie comes to around £7. Good children's menu too with options from £2.

really off putting "tab" system for getting your food. can't seem to decide if it's waitress table service or a normal pub e.g. you have to pay at the till and woe betide you if you've forgotten your special card thing, you have to return to your table to get it in order to receive the privilege of giving them money. the system detracts from human interaction so staff will behave oddly like 2 of them wiping tables near us while we were blatantly waiting for the table to be cleared, on the grounds that presumably they weren't "our" waitresses. we asked for the bill as they had left us too long to want a pudding and although they said sure they just carried on wiping lots of empty tables. just a bit strange? anyway system not that effective as food late, although yes, delicious. Thanks for your review. Outside dining is always a difficult one with tabs. We hold the upmost pride on the security of your card and that means that we won't close a tab without us being handed back the one we give to the guest. Our team don't have sections they should be all working as a team to serve our guests. Apologies if this system wasnt as optimum as it should be on your visit. Kind Regards Sonia

Came for lunch with a few friends. The lamb chops were absolutely delicious! There was so much food I didn't have room for pudding! I will definitely come again!

Family run cafe/resturant that serves all day English Breakfasts, burrito, Sandwiches and are well known for their HUGE challenge burritos, there are 7 burritos to choose from. Serves daily homemade soups & specials, coffees with a great selection of syrup
Great value for breakfast. I had a giant burrito filled with everything. It was under 9 pounds for quite a lot of food. I did finish it. I should have done their challenge because I was starving. The place is popular for good reasons: it's good!
