Betulla is a family friendly restraunt serving excellent food with great service!
Just had a very mixed experience at Betulla's. Service was OK, prompt and professional. The starter of a shared melted Camenbert was excellent. The main course however was very mixed. My partner had the vegetarian Pizza which was good. I chose the 'Calzone Ricardo'... All seemed fine and it was hot and tasty until almost three quarters of the way through I reached some of the base which was clearly raw and had an elastic and very doughy texture to it. On completing the dish the waitress approached and I pointed out to her my concerns. She agreed it was as described and promised to bring my concerns to the chef. We ordered two espresso coffees whilst we waited for her response. The coffees arrived (from an in house vending machine) and we were told that these would be free of charge as compensation for the meal. They arrived but were both only luke warm. She eventually returned and I pointed this out to her and handed us the bill. Only to find that the coffees were now added to it. I handed it back to her and asked her to re-adjust it taking into account the poor main course and the two luke warm coffees. She returned and stated that she had spoken to the manager and it was company policy to charge full price for food that had been eaten. I informed her that I had eaten all of the mealnthst was edible and had shown her the remainder that wasn't which she had witnessed and agreed was raw. She went away again to 'speak to the owner'. On her return she said she would deduct one of the gin & tonics and the two coffees. I told her this was unacceptable and off she went again only to return a short while later apparently having again spoken to this elusive manager/owner. She now agreed to refund half of the calzone. One gun & tonic and not charge for the coffees. By now I was losing my patience and agreed this as my partner was becoming embarrassed and I too felt very uneasy as the couples on the adjoining tables were clearly fed up with this constant and frankly pointless haggling. We paid the bill and left.... never to return again. This situation could easily have been avoided. The restaurant is pleasant, the poor waitress was clearly put in an awkward situation and was let down badly by her management. As I said the starter was delicious and had this whole debacle been dealt with better Betulla's may well have had a return visit. My advice.. if you must have the Calzone, check that its cooked and dont complain, it's pointless. Good luck in the future Betulla's as with practices like this you are going to need it.

The Coach House @ Ford Park has an excellent daytime menu. From full meals to cakes and afternoon teas, all are freshly cooked on the premises using local ingredients and produce from our own Kitchen Garden just a few yards away. Set in nine acres of park
Turned up with the intention of just having a coffee. Looked over the menu and decided to have some lunch. Offered the meat platter and the vegetarian platter to share between us. Food was great. Meats, olives, toasted bread, olive oil and balsamic for dipping, salad, hummus and chutney, sun-dried tomatoes etc etc. Fresh, tasty and great value. Excellent coffee as well. The only down side was it was very noisy, bad accoustics but moved into the smaller room where it it was quieter. Highly recommended.

Passed a number of times when it's not been open, lucky this W/E. Coffee is very good and the scones were still warm served with plenty of butter and lovely blackcurrant jam, which is a nice change. Service was efficient and friendly, price was very reasonable. It is quite small and narrow so may not be super accessible.

I went here the other night, I come quite a lot however i was nervous coming this time as I heard that all the chefs had left and gone to another restaurant (I can't remember the name) but turns out I was right to be worried the dishes we had were terrible and cold, despite complaining about this we had no change and no refund, hardly touched anything on the plate it was that disgusting. I complained to a miserable woman called carol who didn't even smile once throughout the night the only one who was any help was a lovely young woman who couldn't apologise enough and even suggested puddings to us (which didn't disappoint) the sticky toffee pudding was the only good thing about the night, then carol came over again and asked if we would like any tea or coffee, ordered 2 coffees which took 30 mins to arrive! I will not be coming again. Hopefully I can find where the other chefs went to as the food they served was always excellent. We ate oscars buffet breakfast for our first morning at Abbey House and the breakfast selection was good! Small but a variety of food and a set menu to choose from too. The croissants were lovely and fresh! Cereals and fruit available too as well as a full English breakfast. For room service we ordered pancakes which were tasty but presentation could be improved! We also ordered sticky toffee pudding one night for dessert and wow it was amazing!!!! Forgot to take a picture as it was too good! Highly recommend oscars! Next time we will be sure to try the afternoon tea and also the dinner menu!

Wonderful family meal with my brother & his fiancée, over from Chesterfield, and our son.The restaurant was already over half full when we arrived just after 7pm and filled up totally by 8pm.Bro. and his lady chose from the impressive vegan menu while us carnivores pondered over the extensive array of options at our disposal.Mrs D and I eat here three or four times a year and have never been disappointed but tonight the food was especially good. Every dish was packed full of flavour. From the vegan menus, they chose bread & olives to share followed by Mediterranean vegetable enchiladas & vegan pizza with mixed veg & vegan cheese. The latter, we were informed was the best they have had anywhere.Son devoured a 12 garlic bread to start before plumping for the chicken breast with applewood smoked cheddar. Both excellent.Mrs D chose salt & pepper squid "gorgeous" and the excellent pork pancetta.I, reviving my French holiday tastes, had an extremely tasty and perfectly cooked confit duck followed by a fabulous rump steak, cooked to perfection at medium-rare and packed full of flavour. Even the little salad side-dish was lovely as were the skins-on potato wedges.Vegan black currant crumble, vegan ice-cream, rhubarb & ginger crumble and lemon posset were all divine desserts too.Having eaten in France with their excellent full flavoured food, we are often disappointed when we come home at our bland English fare, but not last night (or last Wednesday when the two of us popped here for tea to suss out the vegan options) - it was simply fabulous.Service was excellent too and we relaxed in the lovely restaurant atmosphere for over three hours as the "chef brought his A game" tonight.
