Northumbrian cafe located 800 yards from the A1 (just off the B6347) , serving and stocking local produce, including Pilgrims Coffee. Alongside the cafe there is a gallery featuring Richard Dunwoody's photography and many other local craftspeople's work.
Wonderfully welcoming cafe on a farm. Lovely locally produced food and delicious coffee and cakes. Some dramatic seascape photos, taken by former jockey Richard Dunwoody, on display. Andrew is a very friendly host and dogs are very much encouraged! Highly recommended.Hi Andrew. Many thanks for your review of our little cafe. It was great to meet you.We are attracting more and more dogs (and their owners) thesedays. Our agility course in the garden adds a degree of fun for them. Dogs are very welcome in the cafe, as well as the garden. We hope to welcome you both back one day. With kind regardsAndrew and The Rocking Horse team

A family run business with delicious, locally sourced and reasonably priced meals served 12-9pm daily. We offer everything from light snacks to juicy steaks, and on Sundays we serve a roast dinner with a choice of meats from our local butchers.
Staying overnight so gave the restaurant a go. Good choice on the menu and I went for the fish pie which was delicious. Only downside was the veg which was a little watery and had little flavour. For dessert I had the peach and pear crumble which again was very nice. Service was good and overall I enjoyed the meal. Good price too. Thank you so much for taking the time to leave a review. We are pleased you enjoyed your stay and enjoyed your meal with us, we hope to see you again soon!

Cold, windy afternoon fancied some cake to take home. No fruit scones so ordered a slice of orange cake to take away. £3.00! Lady behind the counter not over friendly so paid up and left.Cake very good - home made but slice small for the price.. felt ripped off..

A café by day and an intimate bistro by night. We serve breakfasts, lunch and dinner alongside a range of coffees, pastries, cakes and savoury snacksâ
I had seen the menu for this place and thought it was a bit pricey for the area so maybe something a bit special. Maybe it is if you call at the right time but not at 3pm on a wet afternoon.I was told that only coffee and cake is available after 3pm. That was fine as it was what I was looking for. The cake all looked too desert like and not what I wanted so I had a fruit scone. It was huge and came with butter and jam (in a small plastic jar). Not a good scone with a tough outside though the inside was ok.The whole time I was there the staff were preparing for the evening; pulling out tables and cleaning whilst one of the staff talked loudly to her colleague. I wasnât the only customer but felt very unwelcome and in the way. In fact everyone left pretty quickly. This is an appalling way to treat customers. Yes you need to prepare for evening so stop being greedy and just shut the cafe for an hour to get it done. I certainly wonât be returning to see if you are worth the prices you charge at other times of the day. We're sorry we disappointed you on your recent visit and can assure you, we will look into the issues you have raised and can only apologise that we let you down on this occasion. I would like to send you a discount voucher, should you wish to visit us again, if you can send an email to [email protected] with your full name and address, I will get one out in the post to you

There are three fish and chip restaurants here; all very close by. When asked, some local people recommended this one. My family and I ordered cod and haddock and chips. Arrived all freshly cooked, decent portions and the waitress was friendly enough. Prices are reasonable - but don't try to pay with a 50 Pound note because they are not accepted. We had to go and get change.
