Visited with work colleagues for a banquet for five. Arrived, sat in the waiting area for our table. Was extremely busy area, staff seemed to be more interested in takeaways rather than booked tables. Waited ten minutes for drinks, another fifteen minutes for someone to take our order after promoting. Finally seated at 7.45 . Our table was booked for 7pm and was ready when we arrived so couldnât understand why we hadnât been shown to the table on arrival. Service continued to be poor. Wrong soup was served to one person , was taken away but not replaced until asked . Other members of the group had finished their soup when I finally got mine. Poor communication between staff. Staff seemed stressed. Food was good but poor service. Wonât be returning again.

Yuet Ben restaurant is in a Grade II listed building, located at the heart of Frodsham, one the most unique towns in Cheshire. The building itself is a classic example of mid-Georgian architecture, and throughout most of its history served as the local sc
This place is going further and further down the TripAdvisor list, no surprise. The management will no doubt dismiss what I say as they always seem to tho k they are that bit smarter than their customers. If they were, they would learn from and improve, but they wont. So, this is an honest, unbiased truthful review. The restaurant has no ambience whatsoever. The management, who of course lead the staff by example, tho k not in its seems of having vociferous communication with staff whilst there are customers dining, their restaurant, their choice. As has been said many times before, the portions are minute. A serving of hot and sour soup at nearly five pounds which consists of a tasty base stock with strands of bean curd and three peas, nothing else, atrocious. The main course consisting of so little of the main ingredient, meat, covered an area of approx 2 square inches. The food was tasty, absolutely and well cooked. Presentation is average and service is good.No draught beers, I imagine, due to the prohibitive cost of drinks they wouldn't be able to sell enough to justify it. So you have to take bottles at £4 so slightly over a pint = 2 bottles = £8 = extortion. The place is clean but soulless. The management will no doubt say that their attention should have been drawn to any issues on the night. If i had been paying the bill they absolutely would have been addressed, have no doubt. The three times I have been here in the last 18 months I have always been a guest, so I would not be so rude and inconsiderate as to possibly embarrass my hosts. The management will no doubt come back as they always do with the same reasoning, basically implying as I said at the beginning that the customer knows nothing about the food and they are insulted. That's their view.Customers are generally intelligent enough to know when prices are not in line with what they are getting. So, I take no joy in criticizing local businesses but if they refuse to accept that they need to even consider what customers have to say, then that has potentially dire consequences but, as I said their business I'm sure they know best. If you want good food, yes, good service, yes, clean restaurant, yes, value for money, no, reasonable portions, no, reasonable prices, no, unless the aforementioned are addressed.I'm sure the management will be pleased that I will not darken their doorstep again, as I said three visits, three embarrassing disappointment. Finally on each occasion my kind hosts who paid the bills all agreed with my opinions on each occasion, so potentially quite a few people not too impressed who may have come back, shame, but, the management know best, I'm only a customer. A customer who if not happy should be heard and learned from before it is too late. This applies in my business, in this business, in any business. Too many poor reviewsHi Dave, we're honestly disappointed that you deem us only worthy of a 2 star review. As you can see by some of the feedback we have been getting recently and our TripAdvisor certificate of excellence that we have been receiving year on year that the general consensus is otherwise. While it is refreshing for a negative review to acknowledge the quality of our food and service there are naturally a few points we would like to address.Firstly yes we don't have the decor or equipment of some other restaurants in the area but being privately owned we don't have the means to splash £100,000 on refurbishment, we have been in the same premises for 38 years and the building is satisfactory for what we do as our main focuses always have been and always will be the quality of our food and service.£5 for soup we find to be very much in line price wise with other restaurants in the area. The Hot and Sour soup also comes with chicken unless the vegetarian option is ordered, I would also like to reassure you that there are many more ingredients to the Hot and Sour soup than a base stock, which we wok cook to order. Our meat portions for the mains are the equivalent of a large ladle which equates to approx. 4.5oz of meat, so while we are happy that you enjoyed your food we find your description of the portion sizes to be a bit of a stretch.Unfortunately we cannot provide draught beer, as you state due to prohibitive costs of the equipment necessary and inherent running costs. Bottles will naturally always be significantly more expensive per litre to buy than draught which while unfortunate is the same case everywhere, I would like to point out however, not only do we provide bottles of beer cheaper than our premium lager that our prices fall well within the £3.50-£4.50 price bracket of other restaurants in the area.Lastly yes, we are more expensive than other Chinese eateries in the area, mostly due do the quality of the ingredients we use (I for one don't know of any other Chinese restaurants that use fillet steak in their dishes that is specifically bought from Coward's, a renowned local butchers). However when compared to other restaurant venues in the area we are actually comparatively cheap. Our main courses range from £6.40 to £15.30 to dine A La Carte whereas the main gastropub in the next village charges between £10.50 and £22.95 for pub grub with a difference of £8.25 between our fillet steak dishes. We do however respect your criticisms and see it as a shame that you will be no longer dining with us, however it is your prerogative to dine in a venue that more suits your tastes, and hopefully, has draught beer.Best regards,The Yuet Ben team.

Dined here as part of a group of friends on Saturday evening. Service was first class - friendly, helpful, patient and speedy. The poppadoms were freshened served with 6 delicious accompaniments - including âthe green stuffâ, which I have never encountered anywhere else and is utterly delicious, worth returning for on its own! The main courses dishes, rices, breads and side dishes were all excellent. A thoroughly impressive night in all respects and we will be back soon, Iâm sure.

Terrible service not enough staff. Food very average.Very long wait no apologies till I paid. Other tables were complaining about wait and food. One table threatened to leave without paying. Worst experience in a restaurant ever would never go back. I rarely complain but this was terrible!Iâd be inclined to say we are sorry you didnât enjoy your visit to our restaurant and that on this occasion we were extremely busy but we always hope to offer good service, we can only apologise for the circumstances surrounding your visit and the very negative impression given. We arranged the number of staff on the night relative to the number of bookings received and our experience based on our many successful years in the restaurant business. Please give us a call and letâs show you how good we really are.
