We had the best Italian meal here Saturday evening. The owner/waiter could not have been more attentive and polite. Nothing was too much trouble and the food was delicious. Would definitely recommend and will certainly be returning.

The £19.95 two course lunch was frugal and hardly value for money at any level. The rib eye steak was fatty and minimalist, the home fries (5) were pleasant but hardly substantial and the sliced carrots although plentiful were hardly a culinary masterpiece. The pear and ginger dessert by comparison was superb with a rich Creme Anglaise.Service was good although the restaurant was empty one would expect it to be. On balance at £65 with wine for 2 we probably wouldnât return, there are choices locally which offer a better dining experience and value..

Major things are happening at Stansfield Compasses; the local farmer is supplying the pub with beef, lambs, turkeys, rare breed pigs, wild venison and game of all sorts. Next year, we will growing our own vegetables, herbs and salads in a smallholding nex
Tony the Landlord/Chef gave us a warm welcome and produced a delicious Sunday roast with all the trimmings; this was followed by strawberries and cream for me and homemade cherry pie with custard for my Partner. These two courses together with drinks came to £40 for the two of us, an absolute bargain for the quality of the food. Tony sources his meat, vegetables and fruit locally and also brews his own beer. All tastes are catered for including vegetarian just give Tony 24 hours notice and he can produce pretty much whatever you want from the ingredients he has available. There are often themed food evenings for example Italian or Middle Eastern as well as regular music and quiz nights. Tony opens from Thursday to Sunday so it is best to give him a ring first. We had a great time and look forward to returning for more of Tony's mouthwatering offerings, he is clearly very passionate about his cooking and we are just as passionate about eating great food! Thank you Tony and we will see you again soon.

Karen, Paul, Damien and Jack welcome you to the Wickhambrook Greyhound and Twenty one. The Greyhound opened its doors under its current owners in August 2011 after being purchased from Greene King. The Greyhound has since undergone a huge refurbishment in
On 14th September I held a surprise 50th Birthday party for my partner at this restaurant which was a 3 course meal and a disco afterwards. Everyone who attended said how exceptional the food was and how well it was organised. I had been liaising with Jack since January and he went above and beyond to accommodate my requirements and ensure everything went smoothly on the night. He responded promptly to my messages and helped ensure that the surprise was kept a secret even planning the arrival at the venue to ensure the surprise was kept until the very last miinute. I would not hesitate to recommend this venue whether you are planning an event or an evening out. I have had many evenings out here and the food and service has always been amazing. I can't recommend this place enough!

Starting with the good, the flat iron steak was perfectly cooked and the hake fillet blackboard special also, so the chef knows whatâs to be done. We were left unimpressed by the service. We had booked and on arrival taken to table with an A3 sized sheet and two smaller pieces of paper arranged for us with no explanation of what they were. Turned out to be a large drinks menu, a set menu and a main menu. We sat by the blackboard so could see the specials. That was the arrival, some minutes later another server placed a bottle of water on table. Ten minutes later the drinks order was taken and after what seemed a long time the drinks arrived with another bottle of water. Other diners had bread rolls and I saw ours do a tour of the restaurant before the server found out that the rolls she was carrying should come to our table. Food arrived with another server who asked if we wanted a second drink which we did but never got before we finished our meal. We didnât bother with a dessert as four loud staggering drunks arrived and were seated next to us, so we left. We got a âsorry â for the lack of second drinks when paying at the bar and were asked to identify the one who took the order but we had had so many at our table it was hard to say. A disappointing evening.
