In the good weather its a nice restaurant , cafe , bar. You loose the sun late in the afternoon . Great view over Hamble River.Drinks are a little expensive and food can be surprisingly good but quality of food variable ; maybe dependant upon the shift and who is cooking. Staff are happy and welcoming .Burgers snd Pizza are very good. Worth a visit but if your not a member watch out parking can be a problem.

So my wife and myself sit down for afternoon tea as advertised outside ,When some one evetualy notices we are there we are told that we have to book 24hrs in advance , But she agrees in a condesending manner to serve us Tea and scones . well thankyou for that . The tea arrives first without cups then odd cups turn up ,then scones with cream and jam without plates or cutlery ? we are asked if we would like plates and cutlery ? yep that would be usefull ,but shurely this is all the wrong way round the table should be prepared first before the food is served . We are just about to tuck in when i sense the presence of the waitress hovering card machine in hand . This in is rude and totaly unexeptable nad i told her so . Its just not done . You present the client with the bill and then when they are ready to pay you may attend table and take payment anything else is a intrusion . we pay as to keep the peace . but low and behold having upset their customers once is not enough someone calling herself a manager ? turns up to upset us even more with some sort of argument about a customer who left without paying the implication being that we were about to dop the same . She had to be told to go away and leave us alone before she got the message . They really have no idea about good service . The young waitrees i can excuse its down to lack of training and doing as she was told . but for the so called manager to interupt our tea a second time was just ignorance beyond belief . sorry but you are not very grand at all .

The place was spotlessly clean and the staff very welcoming. It is actually a lot bigger than it appears from the outside. The menus were extensive with a fantastic choice of dishes....and we say that as vegetarians, so even more choice for those that arenât! We ordered two cheddar ploughmanâs and two portions of chips (we were really hungry), the waitress suggested we probably only needed one portion...and she was right! With the ploughmanâs was lovely fresh bread and good sized salad, pickled onions and a delicious chutney...and they didnât stint on the cheese either which was very moorish!Later family members joined us and had ham, egg and chips which they enjoyed. We also noticed other peopleâs meals which looked good! When visiting Southampton would definitely return!

Welcome to Lakaz Maman Mauritian Street Kitchen in Bedford Place, specialising in Mauritian Street Food. Owned and run by MasterChef winner Shelina Permalloo, we serve authentic recipes with a modern mauritian twist. We accept bookings and walk ins. Open
Always wanted to come here after reading about the restaurant and Master Chef credentials- just happened to be on other business and walked by- and in.We had the butter bean wrap with salad, and jack fruit burger and fries. The wrap could have been served hotter- it was on the luke warm side of hot- my burger was ok but served with very small fries, not like the ones pictured n here.Nice combination of spices and textures and tastes on both meals- but difficult to eat as served in small trays, there is no better serving utensil as a hot plate for hot food!.Very good young waitress serving by herself and just starting to fill up when we left. All in all a nice lunch time meal- a few tweaks here and there and it would have special.Hi thanks for your message - we are happy to put things on plates by request of course, we just like to present some of our dishes a little differently. We will certainly look into making sure our wraps come out hot thanks for bringing this to my attention. I hope you come and try us out again soon. Shelina
