But there was too much mayo in the coleslaw. We played hunt the carrot and counted approximately 12 shavings of carrot. Ploughman's was okay but lacked any butter with roll. The rest of the food was alright but not that memorable. Shame as the decor and surroundings were lovely and could imagine lots of great nights in.. And the gents toilet reaked of noxious fumes that were similar to what you may find in an Amsterdam cafe or in a nuisance premises. And it sure did honk. I suspect it was staff because the clients in the pub were young families or considerably retired.Hi 504fredo,I am sorry to hear your experience at The Hart did not reach expectations and I will look into this. If you do visit again please make yourself known to me, and also if you do need anything towards you meal the staff would always be happy to get sauces or something like butter for you. It is unfortunate that there was a smell but I can assure you it would not have been our staff. They are extremely professional and we are strict with smoking, drugs & alcohol. Apologies for the stange smell but we have not experienced it since. We would love to amend this situation so please feel free to contact The Hart on 01237 441 474 and ask for Laura.Kind regards,LauraManagerThe Hart Inn

If there was no star rating, this would place would get it. Nice welcome, then down hill all the way. Staff are not trained. Potted crab had shell in it, unseasoned, but nicely presented. Waitress tried to clear our plates before we had finished, my partner had I had not! Main course. Chicken parmigiana, how do I start?? Chicken Brest in breadcrumbs, deep fried served with linguine in tomato sauce. Chicken over cooked, this is because it should have been butterfly cut and beaten, pan fried in butter and olive oil. Till golden brown. As for the linguine, it was was over cooked and they must have forgot the salt in the water. The tomato sauce was out of a jar. Just disgusting. A tomato sauce is one of the easiest things to make. On the menu it states Fresh Basil not a chance it was dried. I had the same starter but the Chicken Caesar Salad, what was dumped in front of me was not a Chicken Cesar Salad. Just a few old lettuce leaves an over cooked Chicken Breast it was over cooked by more than 10 minutes, rubbery, no taste I couldnât eat it. I didnât nor did my partner as his was no better. Now for the Salad part limp lettuce a spot of dressing, out of a packet croutons and a very small amount of finely grated Parmigiana. Disgusting. A Caesar Salad should have Romano or baby gem lettuce, hard boiled egg, and shards Anchovies and bacon, and shards of Parmigiana, It had non of it. Itâs traditionally made at the table. We work hard 6 days a week so like to relax with a nice meal. I know what I am talking about with food I have been cooking for 50 years, and just won 2 one stars in the Great Taste awards. Typical British seaside RIPOFF it way over priced for Westward Ho! I would happily come in and teach your cook, how to cook as he is not a Chef! But I am not cheap! This exact response has been posted to your partner. As you came together.Dear Sir,In response to your review we feel that it is extremely unfair. Unfortunately you do not know our head chef, he is very tallented and very hard working with a fantastic work ethic. All of our staff worked extremely hard that evening on what was a very busy night for them, we are a small family restaurant. We as a professional establishment feel that you as a fellow chef made a scene in front of all the other customers when it could have been dealt with in a calm manner. We are more than happy to discuss your concerns and answer your questions if you would like to come in and speak to us. As you can see from our many other reviews they are all positive as were all of the customers when you left the restaurant, they very much enjoyed their evening. We always aim to make our customers happy, and always do our best and our regular customers and reviews support that. Kind regardsThe Drift Restaurant

Best Chip shop in Bideford
Thought we would try fish and chips from here having heard a few recommendations. Decent size portion of chips and fairly decent sized fish. Nicely cooked and the curry sauce was okay too.Would eat here again.I am fortunate to live very close to one of the best fish and chip shops in Hampshire, if not further afield too, so always going to be tough to get five stars. This was nice though.
