Things to do in Waltham Abbey
A small family ran pub in the heart of Waltham Abbey. Serving delicious food and refreshing drinks with a smile! Unrivalled Traditional Sunday Roasts and music every weekend!
...start of the bank holiday weekend and so we made a random choice and went to the Welsh Harp on the Friday night. Spot on - tasty fresh cooked food in really good portions, the previously really dark interior has been brightened up and the staff were friendly and helpful. Ignore all the negative stuff from before, the Harp is well worth a visit nowadays!
Treat myself to a Full English Breakfast here at least once a month. Lovely family run business and wholesome cooked food. Never had a problem. Great range of dishes on the menu.

Came here for an early dinner with my partner, our youngest and his friend (after they had been to Rye Racecourse) as had read great reviews. The place was easy to find and parking available in the neighbouring street. The décor of the restaurant is great â I loved the memorabilia, the train track that runs above the bar and, of course, the jukebox (you each get tokens to choose your own songs) although the music that is played in between is great too and brought back brilliant memories). The menu is quite straightforward (American Diner fayre) and the pricing is very good but have to say was a little disappointed with the food. I had read about the huge portions and amazing food but what we were served was just basic, plain tasting, café/Wimpy Bar style food at best and average sized portions. Our friendâs son had chicken wing starters (4 wings served in a plastic type bowl) for mains our son had cheeseburger and chips, his friend had a chicken burger and chips (he said the chicken was a little dry), my partner had burrito and chips and I had ribs and cheesy chips. The chips were a little underdone and the ribs were a little dry and a lot smaller than I was expecting - these were more like lunch type portions than dinner. I did however enjoy my ice cream sundae (very reminiscent of the 1970âs Wimpy bar!). All in all I would say itâs a fun place to eat and very reasonable but wasnât quite what I was expecting on the food front.
