nearly 40 minutes to cook two breakfasts?one sandwich order in front of us,breakfast bearly warm at best possibly the worst fry up we have had, nice coffee and toast though ,door wide open and freezing inside.had a mediocre breakfast in here last year so gave it another go dont think we will bother again. not cheap either!
The bowling green is a table table restaurant a little more upmarket than its sister Brewers Fayre Not so many children running aroundI do find the tables close together not leaving much room or privacyThe staff are always friendly and polite I feel the food is a little over priced for this type of place

I have been eating here since pretty much the new ownership took over. I really like their flavours, dishes, especially their Sunday roast! It is to die for! Especially when you are lazy! :))Really good food, really nice live music evenings, great service and customer attentiveness. Will always come back and I am sure I will always enjoy my stay.

We finally stopped here after driving past hundreds of times on our way back to Walton, always wondering what the food was like. It was mid week and just before 12.30pm, parked easily outside, very quiet inside, served quickly, food arrived in good time and was delicious. There was a good choice of meals and ours were large and whilst not cheap still not bad value. Got busier by 1pm, but we had had a lovely meal with no problems and will return.
The food is OK, but not great and the kids meal was not even big enough for our child who never finishes her dinner. I wouldn't bother going back. The fish and chips come from the shop next to it, cheaper to just go there. Either that or the fish and chip shop the other side has tables and seemed very popular.

Took mum in a wheelchair out for lunch.easy access for the wheelchair.we ordered the oap menu for 7.99 plus 1.00 for dessert.we had amongst ourselves the steaks and hunters chicken .the salad with the steaks were really fresh .although the guy serving was also serving at the bar ,he was polite, friendly and we were served without feeling he was rushed or stressed.i understand he was the assistant manager ,but a credit to the relatively new proprietors.the decor has also been changed for the better too. Lot lighter and airy.we enquired about the Sunday lunch and we will definitely be back to try that meal too .highly recommendDebbie H,Thank you for your lovely review, I have passed on your review to the team and particularly to the members of staff working during your visit. This place has many good reviews for a reason. It is good!We randomly happened across The Ship searching for something else and decided to go in for food as we couldnât be bothered to go on any further. The place lived up to its TripAdvisor reputation. The food was lovely, arrived on time, piping hot and well-cooked. Staff were pleasant and friendly and we left a 10% tip.No complaints whatsoever.

Really really nice place, very comfortable and extremely friendly, polite staff. Food for four of us was excellent and generous size portions which stay hot throughout. Being by the seaside I plumped for the whitebait which was really tasty and homemade cherry pie to finish. Highly recommended
