Visited here after reading positive reviews, was not disappointed, what a little gem! Sunday lunch was amazing, fresh and beautifully cooked, and the price was just unbelievable. The pub is very quirky, definitely no frills but I liked it, loads of interesting things to look at. Staff were very friendly and accommodating, canât wait to go back. Please note, they donât accept payment by card here, itâs cash only, donât get caught out.

Wow we have eaten in here twice so far this week whilst staying nearby and we will definitely be eating here again before we leave, The food is superb and the staff and locals are lovely. The portions are HUGE and the steak and ale pie is AMAZING. The best pie we have ever had. Thank your the lovely food x

Just been to this pub to celebrate Motherâs Day. Already been about 6 times and enjoyed it. Today we had a table booked for 14:00 and @15:35 we still had not received our main meal. The starters arrived for he second time. The young girl assured us meals were coming soon. The food was very good but we had to ask for extra veg not nearly enough for 8. We then had sweets the people awaiting our table were ushered into the bar. Disappointing that no bone came to explain the unacceptable delay. My wife spoke to one of the staff and he knocked some items off the bill.

We celebrated my birthday/our anniversary here last Saturday and it was a perfect celebration, starting with a complimentary aperitif to commemorate the day. For the first time we sat in the upstairs restaurant and it is fabulous, very atmospheric and with beautiful views over the sunlit hills The chef is to be commended - we are veggies and as we didn't feel like the pasta on offer on the menu, she prepared one of the best dishes we've ever had, a mushroom and polenta medley that was out of this world. The starters were excellent too and we had a bottle of very pleasant Portuguese wine, The service was also brilliant, nothing was too much trouble. Highly recommended.Dear turqu0ise,I am delighted the Crewe team were able to make your birthday & anniversary celebrations so special. Thank you for your kind words and 5* review. I will pass on your feedback and so many lovely compliments, and I look forward to hopefully welcoming you back again in the near future.Kindest regards, Marie BeckettFront of House Manager

Probably the best pub food we have had for many a year. Good choice, excellent quality, value and service. Good beer and ambience. We will return
Having booked a holiday cottage in Frosterley I was keen to know what was available where we could eat and drink. I emailed the pub and got an instant reply from Tracy who very kindly sent a menu and a list of events that were on for that particular week. When we arrived we introduced ourselves and were made so very welcome by everyone and particular attention was given to our Labradoodle by way of water and treats.I had to attend a funeral on the Wednesday and although on this particular occasion food wasn't available Tracy offered to cook us a meal as she was working that night which saved us having to travel after having a long day. We were very grateful for this gesture. The food was really nice and four clean plates speaks for itself.!!The locals in the pub were also incredibly friendly and it was nice to see such a community spirit especially on the bingo night where I also had the bonus of winning £20.Nothing was too much for Tracy and Lisa all I can say if you are ever near Frosterley give this pub a go as you will certainly not be disappointed.Thank you for taking the time to post your review David, it was a pleasure to welcome you and your family (including your pooch) to the Frosterley Inn and we look forward to seeing you again the future.RegardsTracy & Lisa

We serve food in our restaurant and bar area weekdays 17:00 - 20:30, Saturdays 12:00 - 20:30 and Sundays in 3 sittings - 12:00, 1:30 and 2:30
If you book a room here make sure you dont mind staying up until 1am as most of the rooms are above the bar which has last orders at half past midnight. On the second night I stayed they had a karaoke evening which finished at 12.30 and then roudy drinkers for the next hour. I made the mistake of asking them when it would all be quite as I could do with getting some sleep which was received with a torrent of abuse by the landlady saying if I didnt like it I should #### off. Charming. We are a pub and all of our b&b rooms are on the 1st floor. We often have events in our pub, the particular one we had when you stayed was a charity event. This was an extra busy night and the pub was full which obviously increased the noise level. Our last orders are at 12pm and you have half an hour drinking up time. The music stops when the pub closes, as it does on other event nights, at 12:30.I would like to point out that you started asking when the noise was going to be stopping from 10:30 onwards. You were told each time you asked that it would stop when the pub closed. After being asked several times when the noise was going to be stopping the landlady must have gotten frustrated giving out the same information each time.We received no other complaints from other guests staying in our B&B rooms on this particular weekend.
Traditional pub with open fires, serving a lovely selection of refreshing beverages and real ale. Bar meals and snacks available daily through the season. Evening meals by advance booking. Bed and breakfast Accommodation from £35 per person based on 2 peo
I was the sole customer on a Thursday lunchtime, and I had the beer garden all to myself. After a very enjoyable curry and chips I lingered in the sunshine with my drink, luxuriating in the tranquillity. I had only clouds of butterflies for company, as they delighted in the garden's fragrant flowering buddleia. Bliss...The garden is scheduled for refurbishment, but I rather liked its relaxed, rundown charm. The staff are absolutely lovely, and work hard to ensure you have a pleasant visit.I must add that I passed by again on Saturday afternoon when the Inn had a very different vibe, with a boisterous party of revellers at the outside table. So, like many places it may offer a rather different sort of experience depending upon when you go.I was very lucky to enjoy the peace of my weekday lunchtime visit, probably the ideal time for a solo lady diner to call.

We have visited the Black Bull a number of times, the food is consistently good as is the welcome and the service. Four of us called in for lunch, I chose Northumbrian pork and apple sandwich with homemade potato wedges, honey mustard salad and mango mayo, what lovely flavours. My wife chose the Glebe Farm hot beef sandwich which also came which also came with the home made potato wedges, honey mustard salted and mango mayo, very tasty indeed. Our friends had the pan roasted free range chicken breast with potato dauphinois and pesto, once again lovely food. The Black Bull is a interesting place to have a look round, the service was pleasant and friendly, the food was exceptional and a lovely location.Well worth a visit.
