The award winning Falcon Inn nestles with the heart of the village of Fotheringhay, famous as the birth place of Richard III and the place where Mary Queen of Scots ended her days after being held captive in Fotheringhay castle for 12 years. From fine ing
Having previously visited we had high expectations and we were not disappointed. The Inn is located the village of Fotheringhay. There is ample car parking to the rear but in any event visitors can park on the roadside outside. We know The Falcon is very popular so had made a reservation for the main dining room. The staff are all outstanding as is the food. The only slightly negative comment is that service was a bit slow, something that weâve noticed before. That said this is a great place and well worth a visit.

This is a typical roadside pub offering fairly traditional dishes but definitely a cut above your average pub grub. Everything was very nicely presented and perfectly cooked. I had calves liver which was tender and delicious, two people had lamb shanks which were very good. Main courses come accompanied by potato and seasonal veg which were nice and crunchy. We went there for lunch, meeting friends who were coming from Cambridge and it was halfway between them and us. It worked out really well for a bit of an "off-chance". You can have a nice walk round the Titchmarsh nature reserve afterwards as well.

run by Gem and Mel, based at Oundle Golf Course in Northamptonshire. With easy access to and from,Peterbough, Cambidge.
I know it's a simple meal, but this jacket potato with tuna mayonnaise was to die for. A lovely jacket potato with a crispy skin and the fluffiest inside ever topped with really well seasoned tuna mayonnaise, with a delicious salad garnish. I've had it three times now and it's always perfect. The chips I stole off my mate's plate were brilliant as well. I also had a a couple of pints of well cared-for real ale. All this at extremely reasonable prices. I'll eat here even if I'm not playing a round at the golf club. Very good quality and value!

Nice pub in a lovely location. Have enjoyed lovely lunches previously but chose badly today. The âamazingâ ploughmanâs was very disappointing. A greasy pie, small slice of cheese and three small pieces of ham. The chunk of bread was actually two slices. The salad was barely worth its appearance on the plate! Not great value for £9.50I guess to me, a ploughmanâs consists of a generous chunk of cheese, a chunk of bread, pickled onion, salad with dressing, celery, an apple! Push the boat right out and throw some coleslaw in too!Oh well, we will avoid the ploughmanâs and stick to the classics we know are good here!

We all enjoyed a wonderful delicious family Sunday lunch . Thank you. Great easy relaxed perfect family venue. The kids were happy playing outside whilst we enjoyed relaxing watching them. The men enjoyed a good pint of bear... and my husband usually enjoys Guinness but the George's Original was really good. Delicious and thank you great. Go there again

Had a great sunday lunch here, very welcoming and friendly and the sunday roast was seriously good, really good beef and fresh vibrant veg and yorkshires to die for! Probably the best pub roast dinner I've had, and I've had a few! 4 adults and three kids very happy indeed.

The White Swan has a traditional 17th Century stone exterior, surrounding a contemporary open plan interior, with tall tables around the bar, cosy booths around the log burner and solid wooden tables and floor throughout. We serve beers from local breweri
Visited for lunch on Sunday my GF had soup of the day and roast beef. She left most of the soup saying it was ok but didnât set the world on fire. She gave a similar response to the beef I had a homemade scotch egg for starter which was ok but a bit bland. Main was an âItalian stallionâ burger which was ok and thatâs all I can say about the food. It was pretty average for the reviews it had, I stay over 100 nights a year in hotels for work and eat a lot in chain restaurants and it was no better than a beefeater, I really want to be more positive but I canât. we researched somewhere nice to go based on reviews (as we always do) and had driven the 25 miles to go. Our experience may have been a one off who knows? The pub itself was nice, decent decor and nice outdoor seating area, staff were friendly enough.Thank you for visiting The White Swan and your feedback. We are sorry you didnât enjoy your meal, we would have been delighted to have had the opportunity to have rectified this at the time if we had been made aware. We are pleased you enjoyed the ambiance and the service and would hope that maybe you will give us another try in the future. If you would like to come again please email us via our website and we can hopefully ensure you have a better experience next time.

Popped in for a couple of pints whilst visiting the area, no atmosphere, bar staff were young and looked lost. All the oak beam's had been painted gloss black which took away the old worldyness of the place. Not a great selection of beers so had 2 and left.
