Our restaurant serves fresh British food using locally sourced ingredients, the menu changes on a monthly basis. Everything is made in house under the supervision of Executive Chef David Kirby, one of the very best chefs in the county. We boast a 100+ win
Couple 2 nights, spent August Bank Holiday 2019. Room spotless, bed comfy with great shower. Breakfast & dinner very good food (recommend mushrooms on toast for breakfast); local produce such as apple juice. Service excellent.Much to explore locally.Hi,Thank-you for the review, we are very happy you enjoyed your stay! Hopefully we will see you back again!Nick

From February 2019 the Heathfield Tavern is under new ownership and is now part of Ridley Inns, a small local chain of family run pubs in East Sussex. You can be assured of a warm welcome at The Heathfield Tavern, with a broad selection of delicious, high
We had heard, and read, positive reports of the Heathfield Tavern since the Ridley family took it over. Knowing how well-run the Cock Inn (near Ringmer) and the Highlands Inn (Uckfield) are, it came as no surprise that we so enjoyed our evening meal there on 12th October. There was a lively, cheery atmosphere in the bar area, whilst the restaurant is smart, roomy and comfortable. The three members of staff who looked after our table were welcoming, friendly, helpful and very capable. Our meals (There were three of us and we each had three courses.) were tasty, ample, well presented and very reasonably priced.I can see no reason why this pub should not thrive. It is a very welcome addition to Heathfield's choice of eateries. Strongly recommended!

The Black Duck dates from the 1500's and is situated in a truly rural location. The views are amazing - not an overhead cable in sight! The property was completely renovated in 2011 retaining its character and opening up the huge magnificent inglenook fir
Had a fantastic bank holiday Monday afternoon at this wonderful & friendly pub,the food is fantastic I had a bbq tandoori Barnsley chop which was so delicious and cooked to perfection and is making my mouth water just thinking about it! The staff are so friendly and helpful and very attentive to their customers, very impressed with the quality of service considering it was a busy scorching hot bank holiday, there was a live band on and a sausage eating competition on at the pub that day, free to enter with a meal for two at the black duck to be won, sadly I didnât win but thoroughly enjoyed participating and came a respectable 2nd place, the landlord & landlady of the pub were out in the beer garden & bar being fantastic hosts chatting with customers made the afternoon have very comfortable & relaxed and enjoyable atmosphere, thoroughly enjoyed our afternoon here will be back again soon! âï¸âï¸âï¸âï¸âï¸

The Catts Inn is a traditional British pub serving traditional pub food. We have a wide range of local beers & ciders and lagers. The pub has been recently refurbished.
On ten way back from Stansted airport we were delayed for several hours due to the closure of the Dartford crossing.Getting pas Tunbridge Wells the road ahead was closed as well so as there was no proper signage and it was late we got, kind a lost in the Sussex jungle (I mean county-site)After passing the Catts Inn. We decided to ask for the way home and the very friendly bar man put the trip back in Madame's telephone.A very nice and friendly pub, we will definitively visit again. (If I can find the way)

The Wheel Inn is a family run fresh, local, food establishment. After being closed for over a year Jack has worked very hard to bring the pub back to its former glory. We serve freshly cooked traditional pub food with a restaurant twist. We also have an i
We were there as part of a large group (around 30) on a very quiet Tuesday evening. All had been pre-booked and we had choice from a limited menu. So far so good. Each person/couple ordered for themselves at the bar as they came into the pub, so names were taken. My husband wanted fish and chips and was told by the lady at the bar that fish and chips might be off as the fishman hadn't delivered. She checked with the kitchen and was told they had fish. Tewnty minutes later, she came to us and said there had been a miscommunication and there was no fish. Se we changed the order to steak and ale pie. I had the vegtarian moussaka. When our meals arrived the waitress would have given them to a couple who had arrived after us, and had ordered the same thing if they hadn't commented on the speed of service! The pie was dry and overcooked, with a minimal amount of chips and some cabbage. Other diners got much larger portions, plus gravy! My mousakka wasn't very hot and the potato raw. I took it back to the kitchen. It was returned in 5-6 minutes piping hot from the microwave, but that was not enough time to cook the potato which was still hard and inedible. I fished the four thin slices out - the rest was OK, but a very small portion.Other guests in our group were kept waiting for their mains, or served out of turn. Portions were haphazard to say the least - which was most noticeable with the steak and ale pie. This seemed to morph into a mushroom pie for the latecomers with hardly any steak in it at all. I really don't think the kitchen could cope with the size of the group, although they knew approximately how many would be coming.

Charming Grade II listed 17th Century Coaching Inn set in the heart of the beautiful historic village of Rotherfield. With unspoilt views over the High Weald from the extensive garden and patios, to the open fires and exposed beams of the bars and restaur

We had a lovely Sunday lunch here.Food was delicious, and in plentiful supply.Staff were friendly, one was a little clumsy but it was his first day apparently but he was polite and well mannered (we just felt sorry for his manager having to look after him). There is a good play area outside for the children with a beer garden that has a great view. We have young children so this was a welcome helpful distraction for us whilst we waited for the food (no colouring books or kindles needed here). Will be coming back soon.

Been here three times in the last couple of months once in the restaurant in the evening. Very good menu and friendly efficient staff so 5* Then again with some Malaysian business colleagues who loved the food and atmosphere so a great lunch, again 5* Finally went for an evening pint which of course was great only small issue was the inability to serve a couple of portions of cheesy chips to go with the beer. Was told that chips could only be ordered as a side to main meal and the didn't do them as a separate order. Have to say this was a little disappointing as there were customers eating so the friers were on.

Very dog friendly....with a Pawroni dog watering hole. Very friendly staff and a lovely pub. Not only did we have a drink there on many days whilst on holiday, but had the fish and chips takeaway...tasty and highly recommend. A must visit.Hi Whoopwhoopholiday, thank you so much for taking the time to leave a review. I am thrilled you have enjoyed our quaint pub and good food. We pride ourselves in catering for all and being dog friendly, the 'Pawroni' is a more recent addition to the pub along with the takeaway being introduced in the last two months which seems to be going down well. Thank you for your lovely comments about my team. I know they do work hard to ensure our customers have a great visit each and every time. I look forward to seeing you again. Thank you again for your 5* review
