Lovely Sunday Roast here. Fancied a traditional Sunday dinner so we booked a table and we werenât disappointed. We had three courses for a very reasonable price. I had the Camembert wedges to start and they were lovely. My partner had the pate and wasnât that impressed but enjoy his lamb dinner and snickers cheesecake. I had the chicken dinner and really enjoyed it. The meat, veg & potatoes were all lovely. The Snickers cheesecake was amazing. Probably the nicest cheesecake Iâve had. Lovely traditional Sunday Roast. Iâm sure we will be back Dear Reavs,Thank you very much for your great review. We are really pleased you both enjoyed your Sunday dinners. I will feedback your positive comments to our kitchen team. Hopefully we will see you both again to try another flavour of our amazing cheese cakes!Love from all the team at The Schooner x

A family run village pub serving home cooked English food 7 days of week with a great name for value dining a great range of draught lagers and beers with cask ale also available
On my previous visit i was very underwhelmed and wasn't fussed on returning.Went for a family birthday meal last night with 7 other members and EVERY single one of us were impressed, personally i will be returning on an often occasion now.I ordered from the 3 courses for £10 menu and had the Potato Skins and then the mince and dumplings, both courses were outstanding, the potato skins were the best I've ever had and the sauces (BBQ, SWEET CHILLI & GARLIC) they were all spot on, Garlic being the star of the 3.The mince and dumpling i got with Chips but wish i got the vegetables as it was a tad too much potato, the chips are unreal though, proper chip pan chips so they still went down a treat. Not one member of the entire party had a bad word to say about it at all, which speaks volumes as some are on the picky side.I dont know if it has been taken over recently since my last visit, but if it has the new owner and chefs really have pulled off something special.Cheap, GOOD eats! I recommend highly.Thank you so much, not new owners but we have certainly worked hard on the food side of things, decor etc

A lovingly restored bar and eatery in the heart of Tynemouth. Youâll find us midway down Tynemouthâs bustling Front Street just through the sleepy arches of the old arcade. Nestled amongst the boutique shops, restaurants, old pubs, surf shops and deliâs t
We used to go here every week but once the chef left and the food quality suffered we stepped back... The replacement chef is OK.... The place is tired now and needs a serious lick of paint too which I am told is happening in August... Fingers crossed as we do like the place and the staff Hi Stephen,We are sorry to hear youâre feeling a little disappointed with Lola Jeans as of late, especially with you being someone who has been a regular guest in the past! We agree that our venues are in need of a little TLC due to the wear and tear our busy weekends bring. With this in mind, we have two big refurbishments planned due in October which weâre very excited about! We canât wait for everyone to see what we have in store. We take great pride in our food quality and quality of service, and will be sure to pass on your comments to the management team to ensure that our food is up to the signature Lola Jeans standard you have come to expect of us. Went for meal with friends after visiting for a drink a few weeks ago and thought the meals looked lovely. Food was all beautiful, everything cooked fresh, good sized portions. I had steak and ale pudding which was really good, friends had steaks, sausage and mash and fish and chips and everyone really enjoyed their meals. Really good value, would definitely recommend it.

I was in charge of organising the annual outing for our history group which was today. We had a terrific time at Jarrow Hall, 11 of us.I had phoned the Ben Lomond on 14 August to ensure that they would be able to cope with 11 of us and to reserve a table for 1pm. The person went off "to get the book", made a note of date and time and contact number. I said "Do I need to confirm nearer the date?" "It's in the book."When we got there today, no record of any booking, barmaid not remotely interested, no offers of help or anything. When I got there I made myself known, she asked who I booked with my reply "a female", "what does she look like?" " I don't know I did it by phone." Off she went and returning in less time than it takes to tell said "the manageress says there is no record" and disappeared to serve. I should point out that she seemed to be the only member of staff on duty front of house. Did the manager show the courtesy of coming to see me? No. Was there any effort made to accommodate us? NoI should like to point out that during the 25 minutes some of the group were there no food came out of the kitchen and, as we left, another customer also left saying, "I'm not prepared to wait that long for my food"I suspect there were staffing issues both front of house and in the kitchen but that does NOT excuse appalling treatment of customers. I can assure you, that I do not fantasise and, if I did, it would not be to fantasise making a pub booking. We left without any offer of trying to help and ate nearer our homes in Northumberland. We had travelled specifically to Jarrow for this outing and this pub really let the place down badly.I think the manageress should be ashamed.Sandra H, we regret to hear that you had a negative experience with us, but would appreciate the chance to turn your experience around please feel free to contact myself on 01914833839 to discuss your experience further If you are willing to give us another chance. We apologise for any inconveniences caused, hope to hear from you soon.Alison

We returned here after a good value carvery recently. This time we opted for steaks we all had Rump steaks with thick cut home made chips, roasted red pepper, mushrooms and a peppercorn sauce. Everything was freshly cooked to order and the portions were generous, the steak was perfectly cooked and was tasty and tender. We will certainly come back again. Good value food and pleasant service. Beer prices are reasonable too.

Today (25/10/10), My friend was treating me to lunch so we decided to try the brewers fayre south Shields. We arrived just after 1pm & the restaurant was nice & quiet. We opted for the 2 meals for £8.99. I chose the 8oz gammon along with peas & pineapple & swapped the chips for a jacket potato. My friend chose the fish & chips & paid an extra 99p to upgrade to haddock. Both came freshly cooked & were delicious. My friend's haddock was huge & was a proper deep fried fish (not like some where they are oven baked). My gammon was very tasty, not salty at all. I bought our drinks. A refillable coke & lime/soda for just over £3.50. We finished off with a coffee & tea (£5.38, free refills) after resisting the delicious looking dessert menu (always next time). Heard mixed reviews about this place but we couldn't fault it today. Lovely pub, tables well set out & very friendly staff. Would definitely go back. 8/10.

We ordered a grilled chicken breast with a sauce, mash and vegetables and I had the fish finger sandwich with double-cooked chips. Great range of beers. Friendly welcome. It's a real local as well as attracting visitors. Both meals were great. My fish finger sandwich looked like home made fish fingers. The chips were excellent so was the tartare sauce. The chicken was delicious apparently. There's a nice community feel- there was a MacMillan coffee morning happening in the other bar. The cakes and coffee looked great. The staff were friendly and really helpful to customers. Food arrived pretty quickly. Portions generous. Everything clean. Prices good. We will be back for the famous pie and chips soon.
