Ate here when staying over on business. It was a busy Monday night but the service was good and quick. Food was good and good choice of real ales.

Haven't been here for about 30 years. Got a tip off from a friend to go and try the two for £15 on a Wednesday and Thursday. I had the home made pie with chips and mushy peas with the best gravy I've had in ages. The better half had Spag Bol. Proper home made with good quality mince, both meals were of generous portions.Great service, lovely cosy atmosphere and a great choice of beers.I will be back.!!!Thank you for your review hope to see you again cheers

On a recent visit to Barrow friends took me for Sunday Lunch to The Crown at North Scale. My friends pre-booked a table as it is a very popular location for meals, especially Sunday lunch. Staff were friendly and efficient and we spent a pleasant hour and a half enjoying the relaxed atmosphere. The food was well prepared, tasty and definitely plentiful. I ordered the shrimp cocktail which came with enough shrimp for two â but being somewhat of a pig I managed to eat the whole lot. For the main course I chose the Roast Beef Sunday Lunch which came with mashed and roast potatoes, Yorkshire pudding, a variety of veggies, gravy and five or six slices of tender roast beef. They certainly donât stint on the amount they serve on the plate and itâs all totally delicious.Iâll definitely be returning on my next trip to Barrow.

Staff and ambiance wonderful. Great selection of beer and fantastic array of Laurel and Hardy memorabilia, that really enhanced the decor. We went twice in three days, once for Sunday lunch and then for dinner. Mid-week they have a special menu that was very reasonably priced, we ate from the specials board, as that did have GF and Vegan options. Food was very good, but not great allergy advice on the main menu and very limited gluten free options, had to ask for each dish, less still choice for vegans. They were very accommodating though, never made to feel bothersome and I was offered a vegetable gravy with my roast dinner. Spotlessly clean and clearly a popular choice with locals, always a great sign. Only GF dessert was ice cream, no hardship, locally produced and delicious. Exactly what you wish for in a pub that serves great food. They are dog friendly too, even though we didnât take ours.
We are a pub/restaurant serving traditional 'pub grub' at value-for-money prices,5.00 P.M.-8.00 P.M Monday to Friday,5.00 P.M-8.00 P.M. on Saturday.We have a large and varied selection available. Sunday Lunches served 12 Noon-3.00 P.M.with a 3 course Sund
6 of us went for the Sunday lunch recently. We were all impressed by the value for money and the portion sizes. However there were a couple of things that took the shine off the experience. The man serving the meals didn't have great customer service skills, the meals were covered on gravy rather than it being served separately in a jug and the mashed potatoe had huge lumps in it. Despite everyone in the room we were in eating there was sport on the TV which ruined the atmosphere for us. I wrote a review on social media (Not even mentioning the mash or the man serving) and was surprised by the response. Whoever wrote the response blamed me for the points I highlighted saying I should have asked for the gravy in a jug and could have eaten in a different room to get away from the TV. As this was our first visit to the pub for food I have no idea how I would know I had these options ! The food is plentiful, it's very cheap but it's not great customer service during or after visiting . Not sure we will be returning which is a shame. In the Facebook review there was no mention whatsoever of mashed potato having any lumps in,nor any mention of lack of customer service skills-yet all of a sudden, after me giving you a reply, which you've taken offence to,,there now is?If you go in ANY restaurant for a Sunday Lunch,if you don't like a particular item, surely you'd tell them? I don't like broccoli or cabbage so ask them to leave it off the plate. As stated previously, the TV was showing sport-which we do every Sunday,as it attracts 'regulars'.I,as landlord wrote the response, which was honest and accurate.Your daughter-who was in your company, comes in the pub most nights of the week, frequented both other rooms only this week-pool on Tuesday & was in the darts room only the night before,so surely she could of told you there was another area available to eat-with no TV on? We do value our customer service & after 15 months of doing food, this is only our only poor review,100s of happy customers,I think we're doing OK myself?

You won't find a better pint than at the General Burgoyne. We welcome you to take advantage of our well kept beer and fresh, home cooked pub food. Our real fire is a real draw, whether toasting your toes in colder months, or drying out after Lakeland show

We visited the Brown Cow on Sunday evening. We were seated upstairs, there were a couple of other tables full, the atmosphere was quite flat up there though. Service was quick and friendly. For starters I had the pate which came with chutney, toast and some salad. The pate was really tasty, I thoroughly enjoyed this starter! My husband and daughter shared chicken strips and garlic bread, again both garnished with a little fresh salad. The both really enjoyed theirs, especially the chicken strips. For mains I had Mexican chicken which came with chips, it was really tasty, but I only managed about half the portion and a couple of chips. My husband had lamb shank, he said it was cooked well & very tasty. My daughter had chicken tikka masala- the potion was huge! She orders this meal quite often when we go out, however, she did say the curry had a funny taste on it, like tangy. Anyway she probably ate a quarter of the dish as it was so big. In summary, the service was friendly, itâs s nice little pub, the food was good, just too much of it! If we ever passed through Dalton again, we would return and just have a main from the small portion menu.

Converted 17th Century town mill with the original waterwheel still intact in centre of pub. The venue has a beautiful cask ale bar (CAMRA's Good Beer Guide 2011-19) with eight hand pulls serving a variety of Cumbrian, Lancastrian and national ales. We ar
My husband and I came here for a meal to celebrate our wedding anniversary. We enjoyed a couple of drinks outside on the upstairs terrace initially, which was lovely, then ate in the bar area downstairs.Food (3 courses) was amazing - especially the scotch egg! Service was prompt and overall it was a lovely evening. Really recommend! Hi 254alia, thank you for taking the time to leave such a great review, and congratulations on your anniversary! We're so pleased to hear that yourself and your husband enjoyed your wedding anniversary at The Mill at Ulverston. We're delighted with your feedback, and hope to see you again very soon.
