We are always looking for a good place to eat Sunday lunch, and this is definitely it. Everything was delicious and cooked to perfection. Really nice eating in the garden on a sunny day. We will be going there regularly. The owners and staff are lovely and couldn't be more helpful.

Once again on a very busy Wednesday evening The Cott gave my youngest son a fab 41st birthday venue. We've been coming here for years as we live close by and it's had it's ups and downs in 45 years but the current landlord works wonders and it maintains it's Best Pub title for yet another year. OK so it's got low ceilings and a slightly cramped space, with the men's loos outside, in fact everything a 1320 AD pub should have. Our meal for 10 persons was cooked and delivered as we'd expect. Looking forward to next time ..

The Live & Let Live A pub "great friends, great stories, great food - the beating heart of a local community"
This lovely Inn tucked away along little lanes, was well worth the effort of driving a bit off the beaten track. Visited, with my daughter, on Tuesday evening to find an extremely reasonable set menu of their 'leftovers' WOW! we were blown away with the quality, service & price. Really tasty, perfectly presented food such flair & imagination. The New Zealand wine wasn't overpriced either & packed a punch. Just perfect on all levels. Doubtless to say we have booked for next Tuesday.

Just donât bother. We have been here a few times and each occasion it simply gets worse and worse. Today we popped in for breakfast and were met with - an empty building. No one to be seen. When someone did finally appear and we ordered our coffees, not only did we have to remind them about them ten minutes later, despite there being no other customers, we then had to ask for the correct menu as none were out on the tables. My husband ordered for both of us, and we waited - and waited - and waited. When it finally arrived it was wrong. I was missing the eggs from my breakfast and had tomato and mushrooms on my plate, something weâd asked not to be included. When my husband managed to find the disappearing waitress again, she was so rude. She came over to our table and pointing at his plate saying âyou have eggs right there, see!â - yeah, wrong plate love she then started saying weâd ordered a different dish when we hadnât. No apology, she just stormed off. Another waitress came and apologised, who was lovely, but sadly the whole meal was - gross. The vegetarian sausages were mush, the toast cold, eggs were slimy and I ended up giving most of it to my dog. Weâre not going to bother again, the last few times have been just rubbish. Some really rude members of staff that let the rest of them down, have had dishes forgotten about despite asking for them several times, chicken that was yellow and hard from being under a heater for too long - much better to either go on the moors and go to a proper pub or head towards Darlington and get something decent out there. It is really disappointing to hear that your experience was anything less than great, and your feedback will be taken on board. If you'd be willing to provide more feedback, please get in touch at [email protected].

When we arrived there was only one young lady serving behind the bar, taking orders, delivering food and clearing tables,,we waited 15 minutes for order was taken and a further 20 minutes for it to arrive. A bowl of soup and a cheese and bacon baguetteThank you for taking the time to report on your experience at The Globe Inn.We had an exceptionally busy lunch time on Wednesday which caught us by surprise. None of the full pub of customers had pre-booked tables so our usual staffing level was applied to the rota.Given the exceptionally busy trading day, we don't consider someone waiting 35 in total for their lunch when it is freshly prepared to order a particularly long wait, and when we managed to serve such a large volume of customers. I applaud the team for an excellent job well done under such busy circumstances. It's such a shame that you fail to comment on your freshly baked baguette, or the quality of our locally sourced bacon, or our home made soup. We're assuming you enjoyed them as you haven't put any negative feedback regarding the quality. All best wishes,Dan and all at The Globe Inn.

We've been waiting for this pub to reopen after a winter re-fit and weren't disappointed. We went for Sunday lunch and the roast beef was excellent, on the pink side which is just as we like it, the staff were attentive and the service was prompt and courteous. Full marks to the manager who is clearly running a good establishment and has trained his staff well. The decor looks fresh and the whole experience was very positive. We will be back again once the summer holiday season is over as we live fairly locally and will be interested to see if the high standards have been maintained.

We received a warm welcome from Kevin, one of the owners, who showed us to our room and gave us all the useful info re breakfast, etc. He was very friendly and took a genuine interest in us which was nice. The room was light and fresh with a wonderful scenic view. Weâd also booked dinner for that evening. It was a guest chef evening where a local resident creates a three course menu and guests then rate each course - a bit like Come Dine with Me. Kevin had let us know in advance this was taking place and the menu looked good so we booked on (there was no obligation and the usual menu was still on offer). Overall, a tasty meal and very reasonably priced. The only downer to the experience occurred when ordering drinks with our meals. It was table service and we ordered drinks with one member of the team which was fine...only to find that when we tried to order again later, we were told by a different member of the team that we needed to go to the bar to order - the delivery of this was quite abrupt. Appreciate that after the meal it would be appropriate to order at the bar, but we were still sat for our meal and given weâd had table service to that point it was a bit odd! If ordering at the bar is how itâs always done, Iâd suggest communicating this at the beginning to avoid confusion.A tasty breakfast the following morning.Overall, a lovely, dog-friendly pub. Would recommend.Hi, Many thanks for your review. Point taken about the confusion over the drinks service. We do ask that customers get their drinks from the bar. Occasionally, if we are taking a food order, we'll take an order for drinks as well. In busy periods this is not always possible. Having said that, there is no excuse for being abrupt to any customer and I will address this. Glad you enjoyed your stay. Thanks againKevin

an unexpected find with good food. Has accomodation and is within a few hundred yards of Buckfast Abbey, lying alongside the river.
Our third visit to Abbey Inn (from the states). Really lovely inn on the river. Super relaxing and great location for touring around Dartmoor. The food is also pretty good although on Sundays, a very limited menu. If you like a full english, the breakfast is huge! The rooms are basic but they are upgrading the property as they go. It's worth a stay if you want a lovely retreat to eat, drink, sleep to the sound of the river.

We were staying in a nearby hotel and were out for a walk with the dog. We stopped in here for a drink. There is a restaurant and bar both of which looked nice and inviting. If we were here for longer we would definitely give the food a try. As it was we had some drinks and had a pleasant time sitting in the beer garden across the road. A nice girl came out and gave the dog a treat but didnât seem interested in enforcing their stated âdogs on leadsâ policy. There were a couple of wee yappie mongrels running loose much to everyoneâ annoyance but no one seemed to care. The drinks were on the pricey side which might explain why it was quiet on an otherwise busy with people, warm, sunny Saturday afternoon. Thanks for the review. Glad you stopped by and were able to enjoy our lovely garden on what has lately been a rare sunny afternoon. We do ask for dogs to be kept on leads in the garden and our drinks are very fairly priced we believe for location & quality. We hope you will stop by again if you are in the area.
