Arrived early afternoon on a sunday with my partner, the staff were brilliant and the food was incredible, I read reviews before hand and people had complained about price for food, well I can vouch that the food is worth every penny and it is a beautiful pub, we even installed trip advisor just to leave this review! Amazing well done!!! Highly recommend! I had the chilli con carne and my partner had the lasagne! 10/10 in our ratings and we will be back!

Good pub food, in middle of forest. Very friendly service and lovely setting. Open from midday and food is served throughout the day until 9.00Pm
Popped in for lunch and we were not disappointed. Lovely meal and such good value. Shame we didnât have room for dessert as they sounded delicious. Had our dog with us and he was made very welcome and had the benefit of a fantastic walk seconds away from the front door in the forest. We will definitely return, thanks.

We came here for our final family holiday meal and certainly were not disappointed. The interior of the pub is well put together, the bathroom was modern and clean, the staff were extremely friendly and nothing was a bother. We had specific requirement for the meal as we had the dog with us and a 9 month old baby but the staff were very accommodating and had reserved an area for us without any fuss. The table had been decorated with flowers and the atmosphere felt homelyThe service was prompt, and there was plenty on the menu to tickle our tastebuds as well as the plentiful options in the specials menu as well. There wasnât a long wait for food and when came it was extremely mouthwatering and pleasant. The lamb chops certainly were a favourite for one member of the family. The portions were of good size however it depended on the chosen dish. A very enjoyable evening felt by all, would definitely if ever back in the area.Thank you so much for taking the time to write such a full and generous review. You really have made such complimentary comments about everything from start to finish which fills us with great pride and suggests we are maintaining the high standards we set ourselves. We really look forward to seeing you all again soon.

A large number of us stayed on the campsite and also utilised the hotel. We booked the back room for dinner on Saturday night. We pre-ordered as there were 30 of us and arrived promptly at 8.30 as was requested by the pub. Our meals still took 45 minutes to arrive, which is understandable, but longer than we had hoped as it was so late. I also felt like I was sitting in a school canteen being shouted at by frustrated dinner ladies as each meal was barked/yelled out! By the time we were finished and had to ask if we could have deserts, we were told that deserts would take potentially half an hour because the kitchen staff had gone home! This was at 10.20pm. We didn't bother, which was a real shame. We stated until the bar closed and our empty plates remained uncleared. Delicious food, poor service.Thank you for taking the time to leave us a review,We are disappointed that you were not happy with the service you received and would like to just clarify a few points that you have made,Firstly; the time that was scheduled for your food to be served was 8:45pm and not 8:30pm, 8:30pm was the time stated for your arrival. Its important to note that when the waitress began bringing the starters out, it was apparent that your party were not seated or ready for their food, therefore we took the starters back to the kitchen to keep them warm and the manager informed you that your first course was ready to be served. It was then requested by a member of your party that we serve the children's meals with the starters, which we did as quickly as possible. Your first course was then cleared and main courses served around 9.20pm. I do not think that this is a particularly long time to wait between courses, especially considering that we were also asked to serve the children's meals in between. In regards to the "school canteen" that you mention in your review, it was actually requested by the organiser of your party that you were seated in that room. I am sorry that you felt as though you were being shouted at by the waitress, although, as I am sure you can appreciate, sometimes when serving such a large party you do have to speak louder in order to be heard over the general hubbub of chatter.I apologise that you felt you were unable to have any desserts, as explained on the night we would have been more than happy to make them for you, however there would have been a slight delay as at 10.20pm the kitchen staff had finished for the evening and we would have been reliant on a member of the bar staff to make them. I would again like to emphasise how disappointed we are with the negative comments received, especially considering your party was only booked four days before the event, and we specifically explained to the person organising it that we would not usually take a booking of that size during the extremely busy bank holiday weekend, however we would be happy to do so on the proviso that you be understanding of this. Please feel free to contact us if you would like to discuss anything further. We hope to see you again, Many thanks, Management

We were in Yorkley on holiday last weekend and my uncle booked Sunday lunch at the Nags Head. As we were a large group, we had the whole upstairs room to ourselves. We all day on a long banqueting style table. The food and drinks were very reasonably priced. We ordered our choice of meat when booking the table. The food all arrived quickly and everyone was served promptly by the two waitresses. One of the best Sunday lunches I've had and everyone on the table enjoyed. The waitress read out the dessert menu after they had cleared all the plates away. There must have been around 20 different desserts on this menu and you could choose between cream, custard and ice cream to accompany them. Most of us ordered different desserts and the waitresses still managed to serve us all in what seemed a matter of minutes. Highly recommend this pub and we will be booking a table here again next year for another family celebration.

Visit the Red Lion for dinner after walking our dogs, unfortunately the service from the waiting staff was below expectation, our food was mixed up with another table and although my meal arrived on time my wife's took over 20 minutes and after speaking to two staff member eventually the manager intervened and managed to secure the delivery of the outstanding meal. In their defence it was very busy, we have visited this pub several times and this is the only visit were we encountered a problem. The food was very good and the intervention of manager was swift and dealt with our issue with professionalism and care. Definitely will revisit as its a jewel of a pub with very friendly and welcoming locals.

The Miner's Arms is a family run free house pub and restaurant now under new ownership. The Miner's Arms is a popular, locally supported pub as well as being a destination venue for diners and live music lovers. It is host to Jazz and other music nights.
We visited the Miners Arm on holiday . They had a fantastic range of beer and the staff were really friendly and helpful. They have got a great value menu for kids and were really flexible to adapt the menu too. We went on curry night, and they offered a great deal on a curry and beer (£10!) The curries were a bit tame and it would be good to see some spicy ones on offer. They did a fantastic burgers too . If your staying at the nearby Whitemead Forest Park you can walk through the Forest to the pub. Perfect excuse to leave the car at home. Thank you for leaving such a positive review Joy, we're really pleased you enjoyed your visit. I've forwarded your helpful constructive comments about the curry to the kitchen team and provided them with some scotch bonnet chilli's so they'll make an appearance in one of the curry's on Wednesday this week. Hope you come back and see us next time you stay at Whitemead - as you say it's only a walk through the forest away.
