I rocked up here at 9.30 p.m. after hiking since 6 a.m., totally knackered. The landlord made me feel welcome and asked me if I'd eaten. I had, but it was very thoughtful and unexpected of him. I had a drink at the cosy, attractive bar and a chat with him before he showed me to my room. A quick bath--yes it had a bath, a sight for sore feet for a hiker--and I crashed out. The room was in an ancient outbuilding just across the lane from the main bar and was clean and cute, with a low ceiling and windows on both sides, as in a caravan. The landlord was there at breakfast and did me some eggs on toast and a nice coffee. I've nothing but praise for this attractive, well-kept, friendly establishment. Also, its location is invaluable for the coastal hiker, being near the Erme estuary, which can only be waded around low tide. And B&Bs don't grow on trees along this thinly populated but beautiful stretch of the coast. Top digs.Thank you so much for your great review! It was so nice to meet you. We hope you'll visit us again soon. Happy hiking!

Traditional pub and restaurant with hotel accommodation and function room, pool table, big screen TV.
I vowed not to return but my other half was wanting Sunday Lunch and we were back in the area so thought we would give the White Hart another chance. No chicken - sorry itâs all gone - so lamb and gammon it was - food today was really not that fantastic but filled a gap - as we were waiting for our fodder - the lads came in to watch the rugby on the big screen - killed lunch dead for us. Didnât stay for dessert - we had had enough - my other half has a slight fear of pubs and sporting stuff - but we were only on for a single quick lunch so made our way back to our holiday flat. Whilst we were in the car park we bumped into a gent who advised that he had heard that the current tenants are selling up - Phew !!!!Hopefully the place will recover to its former glory with new charges behind the bar and on the kitchen - lets give it a few months for the changeover and see what happens !!! 'The gent advised you that he'd heard' oh dear!! Well watch and wait. I find it strange how ever time we get a 'bad review' it gets liked 5 or 6 times but when it's an Honest good one, we get none. Strange that PS. We had plenty of chicken, also lamb shank and pork ribs.

Award winning food set in a place to relax, step back & be steeped in history. The Church House Inn, Churchstow, a 13th Century pub, built as a rest house for Bendictine Monks from Buckfast Abbey it has been a hostelry of one kind or another all of its li
We went for curry night and the food was excellent. Three curries and rice and a samosa all for £14 and really delicious and well presented. Friendly pub that does not rely on it's location to attract customers. Came her back in March and the food was really good then.

Amazing pub oozing atmosphere. Brilliant staff, very helpful, small lunch menu but very good quality. Hotel guests can reserve a table for lunch but make sure you use it, there can only be about six tables in the whole pub and it it very busy! Good selection of local ales.

Open for lunch and dinner seven days a week and throughout the afternoon on Saturdays and Sundays, The Pickwick Inn is a great treat for everyone, from those looking for a light lunch to those after a gourmet three or four course meal. Our fully stocked b
Cosy pub, comfy sofas with lovely log fire in the winter. They are very dog friendly with a big biscuit jar on the bar and water offered. Dogs are also allowed in the restaurant as well as the bar. Perfect stopping point after a bracing beach walk! We were chatting with some locals and were told there had been issues with staff previously but they have since left and and new staff taken on.. it seems to be working as we had no issues whatsoever. They also have a new chef, the specials he created were awesome. My husband isnât keen on sea food but when he tasted my sea bass he wanted to swap! So nice to find a welcoming pub, both for us and the dogs, especially one so close to beautiful beaches. Well worth a drive out!

The 16th Century Village Inn, complete with beams salvaged from Spanish Armada ships wrecked on the nearby coast, is a popular free house owned by the Grose family for more than a century and is where they first offered hospitality to visitors. Recently e
Our once a year visit and once again well pleased. A warm smile welcomed us and the menu offered a good range of options. We both went for the fish pie which was well presented and really tasty. Happy to go again.

Our 14th Century Inn is steeped in tradition and is a short walk from the surfing beach of Bantham.
We came for a late Sunday lunch, the place was still packed. Sitting in the older, atmospheric front room, tables were cramped but cosy. Service was charming, prices reasonable & we approved of their bespoke gin menu. Roasts were traditional & generous as was fish & chips. A lighter dish was the catch of the day (cod) served with salad minus the menu potato option. Parking was a bit of a nightmare since it was a sunny half-term day but ultimately worth the uphill walk back. Felt like an authentic English Sunday pub experience.

Went walking down to Ayrmer Cove from NT car park, blissfully empty beach! Walked back via circular route, stopped for lunch at this 13th century inn. Food, home cooked and delicious, service well timed with good portions for us adults and children. Prices reasonable for mains, £7 for pudding but once again home cooked. I would recommend eating here wholeheartedly.

Welcome to the Millbrook Inn â gloriously situated in the charming village of South Pool, Devon. A place to discover and enjoy great, honest cooking in an atmosphere that celebrates why villages need pubs and pubs need villages. Take a look around and see
I was worried this was going to turn out to be an overpriced local pub, but although it was more than your average, the food more than makes up for it. We went with our boys, but they are at the age where it just about worked. I wouldn't have gone with any younger children - neither the menu or space would make it right for them really. I saw that they have a bbq on some nights with a different set up and that might work better for less formal. Extremely helpful front of house (owner?) was not sure who he was, but made us feel welcome, made sure the dog was comfortable and had water. What they call the bar snacks are more like starters really, and the menu is not 20 pages of inedible food, but a few choice options for fish, field and hedgerow to suit all, with some more basic, and value, children's options. Highly recommend. Make sure you book though as it is not a big place!
