Never been before. We were staying at the Wensleydale Heifer which is a minutes walk away. Proper jukebox. Proper ales and beers and a good selection of every spirit. We had a warm welcome and met some lovely people and their dogs. Good pub grub menu too.

A beautiful historic public house and restaurant, recently refurbished and under new management. Our bar offers a wide selection of local and national ales, and a great choice of spirits, wines and gins. Our restaurant offers great food made using locally
While having a lovely day out in the Yorkshire Dales we headed for Askrigg as itâs one of our favourite places & as we were hungry we decided to call here for lunch, what an amazing place it is, from the wonderfully stocked bar, fabulous fire place & many other items of interest with the history of Askrigg shown in many of the pictures including the cast from All Creatures Great & Small, now to the food, delicious steak & ale pie full to the brim with tender meat, fresh veg & yummy mash with plenty of gravy, the burger was also lovely with tasty chips & salad, all in all a great meal & we will return when we are back in the wonderful Dales, will recommend The Kings Arms to my friends too

Traditional country pub, full of character, offering a mouthwatering menu of typical pub meals, plus more. Food is ordered through table service. Menu includes gluten free options, though this is not stated on the menu. Plenty of starters, mains and typical traditional puddings. Real ales available plus wide range of spirits and wines. Pub owned by a couple who are very welcoming and ensure you enjoy your experience. Well worth a visit.

We visited mid-week and had the giant Yorkshire pudding with Cumberland sausage, the gammon, egg and pineapple and the fish and chips. The food was freshly cooked and very tasty although quite basic pub grub. Very good portions especially the gammon and eggs. Good selection of beers. Seating quite basic. Dogs are welcome.

This pub is well worth your time and money. Good choices on the menu at reasonable prices, a pleasant bar dining room with other rooms available away from the bustle. We chose a lamb and a salmon dish both well cooked and presented together with a couple of home-made soups which were delicious, hot and filling(with chunks of lovely bread). All for £39 pounds to include an above average tip...and well worth it too. Great evening.....accomm. available and a large camp site very close, so book ahead.

We serve traditional pub food, big portions and value for money
Spotted the pub whilst exploring the area. The parking is restricted. We were firmly directed away from the dining area and made do with the comparative 'rough and tumble' of the bar. Ordering food took a bit of exploration, but drinks were quickly served. A good atmosphere and our food came quickly. I had ordered new potatoes and two out of the five were totally raw - sent them back spiked to the forks at the end to make the point. The 'boozy beef' was tasty with plenty of gravy.

Sadly not impressed at all. As per another review the vegetarian options are shockingly lacking and expensive. I too had the wellington which was underwhelming and honestly, tiny. It was nothing like what the name suggests, a small smudge of mash with one (yes one very small) mushroom, a slice of goats cheese and a finger sized piece of puff pastry on the top. No veg or chips with it that's it for £13.00.Another party member had the mushroom stroganoff which was also very small - being that the dish is only made of veg you'd think there would be a generous portion given the price, sadly not the case. We ended up having to order extra chips just to fill us up. Really disappointed as had very high hopes for the place - it used to be brilliant!

The George and Dragon Inn is a timeless Victorian gastro pub nestled in the Yorkshire Dales National Park complete with a crackling log fire, traditional ales on tap, a patio with views of Pen Hill and rustic walls decorated with framed sketches. We could
Four out of six in our party ordered the fish and chips, and it was excellent. I can see how other reviewers might have encountered the landlord when he may have been grumpier, because he may have been stressed out about something, but he was perfectly pleasant when we met him to pay our dinner bill. We were amused to note that all the dinner checks are hand-written -- not computerized -- and that there are spikes on the wall to put bills/checks, based on what section of the dining room the order needs to go -- very old-fashioned, but appropriate in a public house in the country!

We received the warmest of welcomes to this lovely hotel. Our rooms were huge and well equipped with very generous supplies of great biscuits as well as tea, coffee and hot chocolate. This is a wonderful location from which to explore Wensleydale, just walking distance to the stunning Falls and a short drive to see red squirrels. The Latvian waitress in the morning looked after us really well, with a great choice of breakfast and the dinner menu is superb, we loved the lamb, grouse and sea trout. This is one of the most caring places I've ever stayed.
