Dobbies garden centre is perfect for a family day out, with everything you need to enjoy your home and garden from flowers and plants to tools, furniture and homeware.
Having visited for afternoon tea last year and being very impressed decided to revisit with friends to celebrate a birthday. Wish we hadn't bothered. Nothing like the quality and amount we had last year. You are supposed to receive a selection of sandwiches. I indicated likes and dislikes on the booking form. One person got a selection of 2, another person had just one filling, another had 2 but one which hadn't been requested!!Didn't argue at the time as we were with children and they were hungry. Visit not helped by the number of wasps flying around the table (and this was indoors!)Will definitely not be returning and embarrassed that I suggested meeting there in the first place.Give it a miss!

Cup a Cha is a Royal Tearoom with a difference. Offering an unusual ambience surrounded by lots of Royal memorabilia including our letter from the Queen, two murals and lots of photos of the Royal Family. We offer fair trade coffee & a great selection of
Well, just by chance we found this place and we will undoubtedly be back.Menu great, drinks lovely, very reasonable priced what more could you ask for ..... OH Maybe its the lovely friendly staff or maybe the Royal theme. What more could you want. This is just great.

My mother and my young daughter joined me today on our first visit to this cafe and we were not disappointed. Quirky and quaint! There was such a relaxed atmosphere, it was great. We ordered prawn baguettes, they arrived within 10mins and were delicious!! The tea was lovely too. Shame about the weather but this little hidden gem definitely cheered us up. Very enjoyable experience. We will return soon. Thank you

The Soup Kitchen, at the top of Church Lane overlooking St Maryâs Church, has been run by the Sandy family for over thirty years. We pride ourselves on our freshly cooked food and are so flattered that folk keep coming back time and time again to visit us
Went there for afternoon tea on Saturday and as always nothings changed , the whole experience was amazing the staff are always cheerful and happy to help ,we have tried others but there is no comparison to the best THANKYOUMore and more folk are taking afternoon tea here with us Mike and I am so pleased that you found it all 'amazing' when you came in on Saturday. To deem us to be the best - with no comparison - has made my day and thanks for writing that, and indeed for rating us so highly on here. As an aside we have just commissioned a private room upstairs and already it has been booked for an afternoon tea party which I gather was a great success. I sincerely hope that you will continue to visit us.Kind regards from Duncan Sandy and all who help me here at The Soup Kitchen.

Visited this afternoon with our two young grandsons for pre booked afternoon tea. What can I say !!!! everything was absolutely perfect, a lovely mixture of very tasty sandwiches for the adults and separate ones for the children, the array of scrummy cakes were second to non , the tea was plentiful, there were also chocolate dipped strawberries , the child's cakes which were also on a separate stand were thoughtfully selected for their ages , they also got a premium cold drink of their choice. The staff were friendly and helpful I would definitely recommend Dobbies Afternoon Tea . We will be back real soon.

I've recently been back here after 3 years! I visited again with friends for coffee and a bite to eat. One of my friends has recently been diagnosed with coeliac disease so she was really pleased to see that there was a gluten-free option of food to go with her coffee (Well done, Lazy Days!). I had croissant and jam which I thoroughly enjoyed as a light bite with the coffee which incidentally was served piping hot. We found the staff very friendly and helpful.

This is the second visit on Georgie's Canal Cruises. The first was in July on a Fish & Chip Supper, and today I enjoyed afternoon tea. Both visits were great albeit different. There were different staff at each experience and on each occasion they were attentive, helpful and friendly. Making you feel you are part of the family rather than paying customers. The fish and chips were delicious, having previously lived in Penkridge, we were delighted to find that the supper was from our favourite "chippy". The portion size was perfect and was served with bread and butter, and cup full of mushy peas. The afternoon tea was delightful with 4 different finger sandwiches (having a choice prior for normal sandwiches or plain for those who didn't like chutney or Brie). All very nice.Cakes were all homemade and there were 4 including scones with fresh cream and jam. The ones I tasted were absolutely delicious unfortunately I didn't try the scones as they came with strawberry jam, and I have a strawberry allergy, my own fault as I failed to inform them beforehand and they only had strawberry jam on board. Tea was lovely and kept topped up, coffee was available too. We also enjoyed a few alcoholic drinks. I had a Peach Bellini and wow it was good, not expensive either !The barge was very clean and attention to detail for the whole duration of the cruise.Highly recommended and will definitely be returning.Thank you for two great dining experiences

After a walk around Penkridge market we found this tea shop ideally located in the town.We were warmly greeted by a friendly gentleman who gave us free chocolate digestives with our drinks...a nice touch.Ordered a large toasted tea-cake & cappuccino..both tasty & excellent value for money.Nice & cosy atmosphere & obviously very popular...we grabbed the last table.Service was prompt & the menu has a good range of snacks & drinks. We enjoyed our time there & would definitely go back.

We are a family run Tea Room based at Pillaton Garden Centre, serving freshly cooked breakfasts and a fantastic lunch menu. All of our food is homemade by us in the Tea Room. We pride ourselves on our great tasting, reasonably priced, drinks and food. Our
Iâm bemused by the feedback on this cafe? So, the big breakfast which consists of 2 bacon (reasonable quality), 1 sausage (abysmal quality) , one egg (ok), 1 hash brown (good), 1 slice of black pudding ( poor quality) beans ( opted out), mushrooms(Ok, deep fried though), brown toast (run of the mill, sweet brown bread). Included in price tea or coffee £9.95. You can upgrade your drink to something like a cappuccino for an extra 50p. We opted out of the beans and asked for an egg instead - without any mention this was charged at an extra 50p. Thereâs no service, no mention of where to get your own cutlery, serviettes etc. When we asked they were pointed at to fetch ourselves. We asked for a portion of jam for the toast and were quoted 35p, and declined. We go out for breakfast almost every weekend day and for this price we expected premium ingredients and good service, knowing many fairly local establishments that offer this at around this price (actually all a little cheaper). This runs like an upmarket greasy Joes breakfast and whilst thereâs absolutely nothing wrong with self service and a bog standard breakfast this can be bought in many establishments from £3.50 - £5.....Grossly overpriced and insultingly average (at best) !Hi, Thank you for taking the time in length to write this review. We were all expecting this from you after you came in Saturday and thank you for the other too. To be honest after speaking to the staff I donât think we would like you to return anyway. Our breakfasts are 5 star, thatâs why we are always busy, our regulars canât all be wrong. Our food has been the same for 2 years, nothing has changed itâs all good quality butchers food. As for no service?, you were served at the till, then your food was brought to your table, then my own daughter went and got your cutlery for you, she told me so you have lied there, We also after you left cleared your table, in my eyes thatâs service. My staff are very polite. We are a family run garden centre, the prices we charge are what we can afford to do them at, all the prices are on the menu and no one is forcing you to have them, you also did not complain to the staff about your so called poor breakfast. I am going to carry on doing what we do well and ignore this review as itâs inaccurate and very unkind. If anyone had a problem with their food they should bring it up at the time, as after is no good to anyone. Thank you for your time, we all wish you well from Pillaton Tearoom
