Family friendly cafe serving fresh, tasty home made food at reasonable prices. Very popular with locals but allways a friendly welcome for all
Stopped by and shared a table with some locals who come frequently. Tried the ploughmanâs lunch since Iâve read about it often. Those ploughmen needed lots to eat, definitely more than I do! Nice serving of ham, several varieties of cheese, pickled onions, cole slaw and bread on the side. Quick, friendly service too.

The Swellies is situated on the historic Port Dinorwic Marina, half-way between the University City of Bangor and the medieval town of Caernarfon. We serve fantastic breakfasts, delicious light lunches, beautiful home-made cakes, and quality barista coffe
Love coming here for a nice cup of coffee and watch the boats. Today we ordered food. Sadly, in my opinion, the food we were served was not good value for money, leaving us extremely disappointed. The ingredients on my salad, although tasting fine, were shockingly sparse. Similarly for the bagel. In contrast, the portion of skinny chips were hot and crisp - lovely. Overall, I expected better and left disgruntled!Hi Richard. Thanks for visiting yesterday with your very cute dog!I must say however, I am dismayed to read your words here this morning. We took extra care to make your coffee order exactly as you precisely instructed us: one cappuccino with extra hot milk (extremely important) and another, making sure the same milk wasnât used as you, like myself, understand that overheating the milk is no good for the taste of the coffee â but only with a single shot as you donât like it too strong. We were also as accommodating as possible in swapping out the ingredients of the Cypriot salad to include goatsâ cheese instead of halloumi, and made sure to put plenty on despite the fact it costs us more to buy in.Having seen the food leave the kitchen, I reject the accusation that the ingredients were âshockingly sparseâ. The halloumi stack which your pleasant and cheerful wife enjoyed was the same size and contained the same amount of ingredients it always does. Granted it is one of our lighter lunch options, but this is reflected in a lower price point.Your bespoke salad was also no smaller than it should have been and contained a decent and appropriate amount of kalamata and green olives, sun-blush tomatoes, and the aforementioned goatâs cheese for its price point (none of these are cheap ingredients) and dressed with our home-made dressing. In fact, as it left the kitchen a team member remarked at how nice it looked.I am glad you enjoyed the fries; we had the thankless task of taste testing lots of different ones before settling on these!2 cappuccinos, 2 meals and a side portion of fries cost you £21.60, and whilst this might not be as cheap as some places, I can assure you that it is in line with other similar cafes in the area. More importantly it is a fair reflection on the quality and expense of the ingredients we choose to use to ensure that our food is the draw that keeps people coming back time and time again. What I cannot understand is, if you were so extremely disappointed, why you didnât mention this to us at the time. We endeavour for customers to leave happier than they arrived and would have attempted to remedy the situation, regardless of our views on the complaint itself. To keep it to yourself however, only to leave and immediately discredit us in a public forum solves nothing. It robs us of a chance to show our apologies and means that you still leave unhappy, whilst at the same time defaming us to potential new customers.I would implore not only you, but anybody reading this, that if you are in any way dissatisfied with things you have paid for or service you receive in any restaurant, café, or similar, to bring it to someoneâs attention. I guarantee that 99% of the time the establishment in question will do as much as they can to make things right, and if they donât, well then thatâs the time to consider writing a review online.Kind regards, Eddie & the small and hardworking team at The Swellies.
It's a hard place to describe, but in a good way. Like Morpheus explaining the Matrix to Neo, you can't be told what it it, you have to see it for yourself.I'm going to have to try to explain I guess, so a nutshell the word for here is cozy. I don't know many places that when you step through the door you get hit with the good energy this place has (and that's not getting into the caffeine yet). It's inviting, it's warm and feels like you're stepping from a gnarly wet and windy Welsh hillside into a bubble of comfort. I'm a big fan of fantasy reads like Lord of the Rings and to me it was like The Inn of the Last home at Solace minus the Spiced Potatoes (the coffee however more than makes up for this) As you're stood at the counter ordering, your eyes start to wander around and take in the details. Every time they do fall onto an object, it'll lead you onto something else new and quirky- the front of the bar is made of old skis and even the tips jar has a tale behind it. The funny thing though is that it doesn't feel odd, or forced. It all feels like it belongs together and the cafe/shop should always, and has always have been her as it is. Floor boards to ceiling, it draws you in and makes you feel at home, and comfortable. Then there are the services here. The Coffee is brewed to order each and every cup. The coffee ranges from 'madman, enough oomf to let you be able to count the leaves on the trees over on the far side of the lake' strength to a rich and flavourful easy to drink cappuccino which is all served at drinking temperature. You're not scalding yourself trying to shuffle it around your blistering tongue while attempting to swallow a mouthful or having to wait 10 minutes for it to cool. It's served hot and perfectly warms you back to feeling like a human again from whatever it is you escaped from outside. Oh, it's all served in vintage chinaware full of character, not faceless corporate mugs thick enough to stop a tank round. You don't do Dairy you say? Not a problem. Non daily whiteners/milk subs are on hand along with a section of cakes to make even a diabetic like me think 'maybe', along 11 different types of Tea to choose from if you're not into coffee. I did notice a selection of cold soft drinks as well but didn't try any this time. It's going to take me a good few visits to explore the options here. Alongside the coffee there are the Outdoorsy supplies. Rumdoodles carries premium, professional grade jackets to OS maps. Firesteels to bootsocks so soft they must feel like walking on clouds (Alpaca Wool!) Next to this we have headwear, Tshirts, dull trousers for interesting people, and quite literally the best section of Kites I've seen in North Wales. It's all (or at least what I looked at) eco friendly too, bamboo fibre reusable coffee cups, eco cotton Tshirts ect. We need more places like this in the world. Finally you've got the host. The crazy Kiwi dude who plays that coffee machine behind the counter like the Phantom of the Opera plays a pipe organ. Rich is an engaging and charismatic guy who can whip up a mean brew and deliver it with a funny tale or two (it's always worth ordering a second cup of coffee here). He's also a keen outdoors enthusiast with bags of experience, and sound advice on many subjects from backpacks to socks.I'm really glad to have found this place open, and it's a welcome change to the instant Nescafe you find offered in a lot of other local alternatives. It's a place where I'll bring my wife, bring my family, and bring my friends to soak up the atmosphere of the place along with the coffee and (sly) cake.87/10, would (and did) recommend to my mum.

If you are in Llanberis then you should call in here. The owner is a very interesting & pleasant chap. The Ice cream is excellent and there is a small tea room.It is the variety of honey, preserves & wines that is on offer that makes the visit worthwhile.Their prices are not cheap but everything is made in small batches. This is not a large scale process.A delightful place.Well worth a visit!!
A beautiful cafe/tearoom on the High Street of Llanberis, with indoor seating and outdoor seating on the front lawn. Each day there is a selection of delicious lunches including a mini afternoon tea, hot and cold drinks and yummy homemade cakes. Chloe has
Lovely period property. Gate / entrance on the high street near to mountain railway.Large lawned front garden with a few tables. The period property seems to be a b&b and possible family home. Smallish tea room but we chose to sit in the garden.Simple menu for lunch. A selection of panini sandwiches. Freshedly prepared and served with pot of tea and coffee. My wife spotted a nice selection of cakes but we opted to save ourselves for an ice cream later.Run by a young lady, who was polite, relaxed and pleasant. Entertainment and conversation by a lovely school child enjoying the last week or so of the holidays.A nice homely tea room with a quiet charm and relaxed atmosphere. All the hallmarks of a genuine family run business. If I were to return, I would visit again and also try the b&b.

Lodge Dinorwig provides breakfast, hearty lunches, light quick bites and a great range of home baked treats.
This place might be literally situated on a crease in the map but definitely worth hunting out for a hearty healthy veggie lunch. Chick pea coronation salad was delicious and the other two meals we ordered were great too. Coffee was also worth the trip alone. Very friendly place, dogs v welcome too

A family run cafe serving homemade, fresh food, freshly ground coffee and homemade cakes. We have an outdoor seating area where dogs are welcome.
spot with delicious baked goods and coffee. Sandwiches were also good, though the green salad was quite disappointing. It appeared to be straight out of the cellophane bag without any quality control for wilted leaves etc. which rendered it mostly inedible.
