The Deli at Number 4 is a downstairs deli with a cafe on the first floor.Access - right in the centre of Hexham a short walk from the bus and rail stations with cycle parking over the road next to the Abbey. There is street parking outside and in the main Hexham car park a short walk away. You will need a parking disc but itâs free. The cafe itself is not accessible to anybody with mobility or sight issues being up a flight of stairs. The cafe - a small room with wonderful views straight into the Abbey very cosy with comfortable seats. The menu has a range of food and treats as you would expect from a Deli and caters for vege/vegan people. There are toilets but as they are upstairs they are obviously not accessible. The deli downstairs has a huge range of tasty treats including a massive range of artisan cheese. Recommended as a very good cafe and excellent deli

My wife & I were visiting Hexham on the 50th anniversary of when we had got married in town. I used this café while my wife was wandering round the shops.I was really impressed by the friendly service & the home made coffee/walnut cake with cream was to die for !!

We stopped here for coffee and lunch after waiting over 25 mins at another cafe (Small World) and nobody even taking our order. I wish we had just come here instead! The owners are friendly and the food is good, definitely worth stopping here if you are hungry.

Right in the heart of Hexham, the Hextol Tans is a vegetarian and vegan café, serving a great range of delicious soups and lunches - as well as bean-to-cup coffee, tea, and our fabulous range of cakes. Everything is homemade, and we have a selection of sp
Had a random day off with the missus so decided to have a look around Hexham, by chance wandered in as we strolled around and had the veggie chilli that was on the specials board, thoroughly enjoyed it and was great value, whilst there read with interest the background to the company/ charity and left with a warm feeling! Not only from the chilli but also supporting a great cause! We will be back, well done to all involved.

The Refectory Cafe is a hidden gem in the bustling market town of Hexham. Situated within the famous grounds of Hexham Abbey, the cafe caters for local and tourists alike, with everything cooked and prepared onsite using local suppliers. A wonderful outdo
Stumbled upon this place during a visit to the Abby with my wife and dog. Its tucked away behind large hedges so was difficult to spot, but glad we were here. They allow dogs outside which is great. It was a nice and sunny day. Staff here are very friendly and the food is very good and reasonably priced. If you're in the area and after a spot of lunch this place is worth a visit!

Pie & mash brunch & lunch Independent place Home made locally sourced ingredients Just a lass that loves to cook
We arrived soaking wet after a punishing morning's cycling along Hadrian's Wall through driving wind and rain - then came across this marvelous little place (the signs for pie and mash caught our eyes as we needed something hot and savoury as we trundled into Corbridge). Absolutely delicious pies, perfect mash and a big jug of excellent gravy to keep it all nicely submerged. My pie was a meatball and tomato sauce pie which sounds odd but was fantastic, believe me. I tried all the others too from my traveling companions - we all felt we'd chosen the best. Nice side dishes of veg too to choose from. Salivating thinking about it now. It's the kind of place I love but all four of us did - and I wish there was a branch in North West London where I live! I can't say much about the atmosphere when it's full (which is often I hope) as we arrived before normal lunch time and had the place to ourselves but the staff were very welcoming, accommodating (we were all soaking wet) and friendly. Good luck with this venture - it deserves to succeed.Wow...thanks for your lovely feedback .hope u enjoyed the hadrians hut Kind regardsSarah

The Small World Cafe is a family run Licensed Coffee Shop in beautiful Hexham. We are open Monday through Saturday and serve fresh homemade food everyday. Daily newspapers and magazines add to the enjoyment of your visit. We source as many products as we
This cafe has a wide selection of food choices and drinks, particularly for breakfast or a light lunch. Scones are v good. Service was efficient but nothing special. The most disappointing part of the visit was seeing a large number of smoothies being served in single use plastic cups with plastic lids and straws - so unnecessary and bad for the environment. What's wrong with a reusable glass?Thank you so much for your review. I am pleased you enjoyed your food and scones.Thank you for your comments about the Smoothies, I only wish you had mentioned this at the time as I would have explained how we are very proactive in supporting the environment and cutting down on our single use plastic. Our Smoothies are made in a machine in the cup which is 100% compostable, as is the lid and the straw. This ensures that we are minimising the use of the dishwasher constantly washing out the jugs from the previous smoothie machine. In fact all of our takeaway items are 109% compostable and where we can all plastic containers that we get in with deliveries are used repeatedly to store other items in as much as we can possibly manage. I appreciate your concerns but we are doing as much as we possibly can to reduce our carbon footprint within the limitations of our business and the suppliers we use.

Wholesome, freshly cooked meals prepared in house. Food cooked to order so, in busy periods, may be a 10 - 15 minute waiting time while we prepare your food. No microwaves on the premises.
There's a bit of something for everyone at this delightful deli-cum-cafe. We were intrigued by the varied menu; there were a lot of things we would happily have tried, but couldn't resist ordering the reuben sandwich. Yes, it was tasty - but we were shocked to find that it was cold, untoasted, and served on white bread. A proper reuben requires rye bread, toasted till the bread is crispy and the cheese is melted.

Three of us had tea and scones at this nice little tea shop yesterday morning. Rather small and compact on the ground floor, upstairs is much larger with a lounge are at the back next to the toilet facilities ( which are nice and bright and a pleasure to use). If you can go upstairs do so but be warned - the steps are quite steep. We all had tea and a cheese scone - total cost £15 which is alright but a little pricey. There's a good selection of food especially cakes which all looked delicious. Nice friendly staff and a pot of water with the tea was a bonus. Recommended and we will return.
