Under new management for the 2019 season. We are a traditional tearoom in the most northerly working watermill in England, with the emphasis on home backing and local produce. We Serve homemade cakes, hot soup, homemade sausage rolls, toasted and normal s
Popped in here while on a weekend break. Contacted the staff before to see if there were vegan options and am happy to say the tea room got back to me quickly with an affirmative, even saying if we needed something specific to let them know in advance and they'd do their best to help. The staff were friendly and welcoming, the food was gorgeous. Looking forward to our next visit.

Last year we stumbled upon this place when staying in the Scottish Borders. This year we are in Northumberland and were keen to revisit. We were not disappointed. We had a delicious lunch, there is enough choice on the menu for a snack or a more filling meal, followed by tea and a treat. The chocolate tiffin slice was gorgeous. It was very busy but the service was efficient and very friendly and although we had a short wait this was made clear when we ordered so we were prepared. The very fact it was so busy is a good sign in my book. Iâm sure we will be back next time we are on holiday.

I chose to have my birthday meal at the Blue Bell when we were staying at a nearly B & B for the weekend . Booking was recommended and I can see why . The car park was heaving when we arrived at 1945 . Our table was ready and we took our seats m ordering a bottle of wine which was very reasonably priced . We chose to have steaks an these were delivered in reasonable length of time and were piping hot on piping hot plates . Very tasty food followed by a lovely dessert of chocolate Sundae for me and Sticky Toffee pudding for my husband . Prices were reasonable for what you got and very well cooked. The pub was busy as it was a Saturday night but we were not disturbed by the drinkers at the bar very near our table. Lovely lovely food and highly recommended- jus5 remember to book to make sure if a table as it was very busy

Full of character, The Island View Inn is a traditional inn with open fires, original brickwork and features. It is a typical "Northumbrian" country pub offering fantastic locally sourced food in a stunning setting, all set in the heart of North Northumbe
We decided to eat here to take advantage of the Early Bird offer. The special menu was limited, as would be expected, but adequate The staff were pleasant and welcoming However we were told our meals were ready and directed to our table.45 minutes our meals arrived and it looked as if everyone else on the 3 occupied tables had been waiting ages as well. The meals were well cooked but basic. It was like good homemade food cooked to order, which was a good point , despite the wait.Thank you for the review. We did indeed have 4 tables arrive at once, only one table ordered starters which means the chef had to prepare 15 main courses at once, our cooking space is limited and all food is freshly cooked from scratch to order, for instance if you order our homemade pie it takes 5 minutes to prepare and a further 25 minutes to cook, we do mention that on the menu, to make it worse if there are several orders in front of you that food is prepared 1st, hence a 30 to 40 minute wait on freshly prepared and cooked food is normal. You are perfectly correct regarding the food, it is based on everyday home cooked food, we have spent a lot of time developing the menu along with regulars, locals, tourists and the menu we serve is basically what people have asked for and all freshly cooked to order, we do not freeze any of the food nor make it up at the start of the week, lasagne is even made every two days to keep it fresh, all the sauces are made in the pan the meat is cooked in. This alone makes us stand out from the crowd regarding quality and flavour. The three course for £10 is kept limited to ensure we get the best market price for the ingredients, if a dish becomes expensive we change it, this enables us to keep the menu at that price. We have put a system in place to manage tables better, now if you come in and wish to eat the tables are timed and you will be fully informed of when the table is ready and how long the food will take to cook.Thank you again for the feedback, hope we see you again soon.

Wow... you will not be dissapointed. Fried in beef dripping a treat. Cooked fresh to order by friendly staff & is really as cheap as chips. There is always a queue but don't let this put you off, local folk are so friendly.

Recommended to us by others staying in same B&B as us, this did not disappoint. Service was prompt and friendly, food a good notch above 'pub grub' standard. Duck starter was delicious, whitebait good but portion far too big. Main courses tasty and nicely presented. The best we have found in this area so far. Will definitely visit again when in the area.

We stopped here for a quick lunch whilst travelling South and were pleasantly surprised by what we found. The staff, who were friendly and loved to dote on the dogs, showed us to their dog friendly lounge which is beautifully decorated and spacious. We imagined having to eat outside so the dog friendly area was a huge plus for us. The food arrived within a satisfactory time and we had no complaints in regards to the quality. The chips were particularly tasty! The only downside was that there was very little on the menu for the celiacs in our party to choose from. Overall lovely stop and perfect for dog owners.

Been here before and thought we would call in again for a spot of breakfast or brunch etc Walked in at 11:02 To be told that breakfast finished at 11..thats fine we said we will have a sandwich or similiar. Not possible we were told the kitchen is preparing for lunch you can have a scone! We left at this point and were both in agreement that we won't be back.In an establishment like this hot food should be an option all day and to miss the breakfast cut off point by 2 mins and they being unable or unwilling to accommodate us was a bit of a joke really...went to the rocking horse cafe instead ...so glad we did!!Iâm disappointed by this review. We would like to serve food all day but we are a small rural business so we allow our chefs a break between breakfast and lunch.. given we can do an awful lots of breakfasts on a morning! The chefs need a break and time to prepare for lunch!! This is not a city business that employs shift workers.. It is really unfortunate that you arrived at two minutes past 11 and missed the breakfast order. We have to stick to this otherwise the chefs would never be able to get lunch prepped. I think your 1 star review is really unfair!
