The Black Lion offers a relaxed atmosphere providing good quality food, beers and craft ales in a tutor setting.
We arrived just before the kitchen was closing for the evening. We chose something quick so as not to delay them going home (thatâs how we were made to feel) Reasonably priced and food was ok. We ate quickly and left. Wouldnât hurry back, sorry.

This traditional English cafe is more than just a sandwich bar and is more of a "diner" where full (or partial) English breakfast amongst other basic meals can be enjoyed at any time of the day from 8am onwards. One of my favourite breakfasts or light snack is grilled chopped onion and English cheese on freshly baked toast. The cafe has a fast take away service where a multitude of sandwiches or filled "baps" or baguettes can be purchased, stuffed with an assortment of freshly made ingredients. This includes vegetarian & salad options as well as traditional cheese, chicken, beef & other meats. Also available are a whole range of home cooked cakes and other delicacies to delight the eye as well as the pocket.I thoroughly recommend this establishment. Tip: enjoy an English breakfast tea with your meal!

Upon entering the empty establishment on an otherwise busy Friday afternoon we were met with the stench of chip fat. Everywhere else was packed out and I needed to feed my baby so we had no choice but to stay. We all had to have showers and wash our clothes when we got in. My babyâs pram also still reeks the following day. This is unacceptable, avoid unless you want to stink!

Wonderful fish & chips, homemade chunky chips yummy! All the food here is homemade. My son had squid and calamari and his girlfriends and the sword fish steak. My son & his girlfriend eat here regularly and he usually has the mixed grill. All the food is locally sourced and truly delightful. They are the best fish & chips in the whole area. We shall definitely be back.

Excellent tapas and very good pricing. Followed by very, very good desserts (not had a lemon meringue pie for ages and this was fabulous)!! Beautiful setting as ever and first time been for a while following some naff service quite a while ago. Happy to put that behind me as service was good and food very good indeed. Well done Boathouse.

What a gem? The wonderful welcoming locals and warming atmosphere make The Vault an awesome find. Steeped in history with delightful decor. The steps leading down to this underground tavern, give no clues to the enjoyment awaiting any visitor. Beautiful bricks, curving arches dancing with shadows from ambient lighting.Consume a plethora of gins, locally brewed ales and during summer months tasty food platters. We will definitely return...thank you Paul, Tracey and your loyal locals for such a enjoyable evening.

Set overlooking the delightful Shropshire Riviera of Ellesmere serving Lunch daily, Breakfasts on weekends, and Suppers Friday & Saturday.
It's been a while since we visited The Boathouse. This time it was for breakfast with family. Super fresh, lots of choice, attentive service and all in the most wonderful location.Dog friendly and clearly a popular place with walkers, bikers, families etc...Heavenly!

Wanted to go to Greek in Ellesmere as dog friendly and great food but it was shut, so was looking round for somewhere else that took dogs.We passed the red lion and it said dog friendly in certain areas, so we went in and were shown the pool room which was very down market to the other areas in the pub. But the pub was quite busy so we presumed the food would be ok, but it was very average. My ham was half fat and I am not sure what they had done to the chips but they were horrible. The burgers were ok but again nothing special. Will not be returning.
