Sam and Emma would like to welcome old and new customers. We are a traditional village pub that dates back over 400 years ago, you will receive a warm welcome, we are child friendly with a large play area situated at the bottom of the garden, doggie frien
It's a friendly pub for sure but the food, although not badly priced, was very average and what you would expect from a pub. The Gammon was fine but the Chilli Ginger Chicken although reasonably tasty was watery and not the creamy sauce I expected. How you're meant to eat it with Flat Bread I don't know - it needed rice. I don't think that I'll be back.hi weâre sorry you didnât have a good experience with us . If you had mentioned about the chilli chicken we could have done something about it because that is one of our popular dishes.we do hope you decide to give us another try. We donât like people walking away unsatisfied

I have stopped off here a number of times when travelling north. Always a friendly welcome with good food at reasonable prices. The seating is comfortable and there is parking at the rear of the Inn. On a summer day its lovely to sit outside with a drink and a bite to eat and watch the village life go by.

Old fashioned sweet and chocolate shop with adjoining tea/coffee shop serving homemade cakes and scones, sandwiches, soup, toasted bagels, salad, quiche, ploughmans, ice creams and milkshakes.
I believe this cafe is now called Finka and the interior has changed somewhat. It is run by a collection of very pleasant and efficient young and youngish ladies and the coffee and cakes are very good and reasonably priced. I am not sure Finka means what they think it does in Swedish or Croation not if Google is right but then what does it really matter-it's a talking point. I liked the interior. It's a pleasant and relaxing place to sit and enjoy good coffee.

Eight of us had a lovely circular country walk around Beninbrough Hall estate and then visited the Blacksmiths Arms for our pre-booked Sunday lunch. Our pub host Glen Mimms made us most welcome serving a good range of beers to compliment our meal. Sat around open fires and memorabilia the pub had charm and an aura of friendly village warmth. The choices on the menu suited most palettes, both the starters and the mains. Even a choice of three soups! we're on offer. All our food was good. Especially the steak pie and the fish & chips, although the Thai fish cakes also were a favourite. All reasonably priced and served with politeness from all the waiting staffCertainly a pub to return to!!!

Newly refurbished, the Aldwark Arms is a beautiful village dining pub offering locally sourced, freshly cooked produce. Our menus change seasonally throughout the year. A la Carte, Early Bird, Special Event Nights and extensive lunch menus are available.
Arrived at 8.05 and asked to eat.Asked to have a drink and study menu's while a table was set. Did so for 30 minutes then left after no service in a less than busy pub. They ain't bothered. Will never go again.Hi YorkGeordieFollowing on from your visit to us last night, I am aware of your comments to my colleague but I believe there is a misunderstanding as unfortunately you did not inform us you wanted to eat at any point. My manager served you but at no point did you advise us you wanted to dine with us or ask for menus and just ordered drinks so we were very confused when you then advised you were leaving? We are a very friendly, accommodating and efficient family run business and would have loved for you to enjoy a meal with us but we wouldn't just not give you menus or take your order if we were aware you wanted to dine with us.If you would like you get in touch to discuss it further then please do not hesitate to contact me.Kind RegardsPete HardistyLandlord
