The Jenyns Arms is situated at Denver Sluice and has a very good riverside position. With such a location, and with it's outside terracing and seating, I thought it would be busy - if it were on e.g. the Thames I'm sure it would be busy all day - but the sluice is off the main track a little with little passing trade and there wasn't much activity on the river so that's not the case. My wife and I went there first of all during the afternoon to find it closed; it closes between 3 and 6 pm. We returned as part of a group of about 30 for an evening meal (a midweek roast) and the food was quite acceptable; nothing to go overboard about but, for the price, was ok and it was all served hot. Where it stood out for me was in it's choice of desserts: there was quite a few I could have chosen which is quite unusual as I'm a bit of a traditionalist where desserts are concerned. There was bread and butter pudding, treacle tart, apple pie, jelly, and others all on display. I chose the bread and butter pudding and it was good. I heard no complaints from anyone else either. Overall I'd rate it somewhere better than an average 3 but below a very good 4.

Church Farm Tea Room serves light lunches and fabulous cakes. There is no admission charge (for the Farm) to visit the tea room & gift shop.
We came to the farm and stayed for lunch. Our children had the lunch boxes which they polished off. A little bit expensive for what it was but all very nice. I had a tuna mayo jacket potato and it was perfect! The filling was in a little ramekin on the side which I loved because I hate it when the filling is plonked in top! A delicious side salad with a homemade dressing and homemade coleslaw. It was worth the money and I ate every bite. The staff were friendly and helpful at all times. One lady helped me numerous times with high chair and table cleaning and was very sweet. I would eat here again. It was refreshing to see lots of homemade options on the menu. Thank you for taking the time to write a review for Church Farm.We are very pleased that you enjoyed your lunch and that the staff were helpful and we hope to welcome you again soon.Church Farm

Restaurant and Bar - Refurbished and reopened for 2018. Sunday carvery a specialist and curry night on Thursdays. Superb food serve from Monday through to Sunday
Went for a meal for the first time before the Wednesday evening quiz and was very impressed. The food was good enough, and a reasonable price, the service excellent and the beer, from Lowestoft, was brilliant. A good evening all around, and we will be back.

Stopped here en route in our campervan. Took advantage of the two steaks and a bottle of wine offer. The steak was of excellent quality and both were cooked as we requested. The staff were very friendly and helpful and had no problem with allowing us to stay in the car park. The pub stands alongside the great river Ouse where you can also moor a boat.

Baytree Hilgay provided some excellent friendly and attentive service on a hot Friday afternoon and came through with an excellent and generous ploughmans which was just right for the two of us. Loved the enthusiasm and charm which served to erase much of the memory of a walk around Wisbech.

Visited on a recommendation and we weren't disappointed. Meal was well presented and very tasty. The pub was traditional and very much in keeping with the community location. Ample parking. Would recommend to others. Just watch out for the Peacocks when parking!

Always go here for breakfast before catching the train back to London. Good value with lots of combination choices for a fried breakfast. This time just had eggs on toast. Well cooked, friendly waitress and quick service. Haven't tried lunch but cafe seems to have a regular clientele all day long.

This place is temporarily closed due to a major renovation of the location. Stay tuned to the official Facebook page for updates. We are excited to announce that The Heron is under new ownership. There is lots of work and renovations to be completed prior
Beautiful location by the river, nicely refurbished, with a varied menu, that serves good pub food, it is very popular and on our visit, we were given a table in the middle of the restaurant, which had the feeling of being squeezed in , as it was the main thoroughfare for the serving staff our chairs were bumped into several times. We had an enjoyable evening staff were very pleasant, and the restaurant had a nice atmosphere. The most petty and astonishing thing was they charge 50p for custard, on desserts that already cost £5.75, my favourite dessert sticky toffee, does not come with either, ice cream, cream,or custard, astonishing. Why do restaurants spoil things by doing such petty unnecessary things like this.Glad you had an enjoyable evening, we do get very busy on weekends we have customers booking weeks in advance, we are in the process of extending our restaurant so making more room for excising tables. Our sticky toffee pudding is priced without ice cream or cream or custard as not everyone wants extra with it, all our desserts can have these added, thatâs why they are an added button on the till. Your sticky toffee comes with extra pouring sauce in a jug on your plate, I think you will find most places charge for add ons. Thank you for your review.

Arbuckles was recommended by the local proprietor of our B&B and I must thank him. The menu has a good varied choice and the portions are generous. Service is very good and the whole restaurant is clean & tidy. We enjoyed the food & drink that much we returned the next evening. For a starter that 2 can share I would recommend the classic Nachos. EnjoyThanks very much for your great 5* review, great to hear you enjoyed your visit so much you visited twice! Hope to see you again next time you are staying in the area!
