I have previously reviewed this place and was unhappy with the staff, I am happy to report that on Monday 22nd of July there was a very nice, friendly lady behind the bar. So it is a nice pub with nice staff. (at least on Mondays)

We came across this Hotel/Pub by chance and what a fabulous evening it was.The staff were so friendly, helpful polite (Sam and another guy both served us, sorry didnât get his name)The service was outstanding and the food was delicious and all dishes were so well presented and we didnât have to wait very long for our food. And sorry am only in Bovey Tracey for a short time or I would be a regular.

We were really nervous about coming here for food because of the recent bad reviews, however it was absolutely delicious. Iâm not sure if something has changed recently (maybe a new chef, menu perhaps) but the meals we had bore no resemblance to the ones described in the other negative reviews. We came on three occasions during our holiday; the first time we had the carvery, then the second time we had the pulled pork tacos, burger and kids spag Bol. Then the third time we had the rack of ribs, chicken wings and the kids spag Bol again. It was all really delicious (especially the ribs, the meat was so tender). We were so impressed by the fact that so much of the food was homemade, all the marinades, pasta sauces, burger patties. Someone at this restaurant is clearly a very good cook! The only negative Iâd say is that menu isnât that extensive and thereâs not much choice on the desert front. Other than that, we loved it

Had the absolute misfortune to witness the owner telling a very heavily pregnant lady to leave the restaurant, after they had ordered their meal, as her young child played up getting in the high chair! Yes the little girl was crying but the flustered mum was trying to control the outburst and also doing her best to try to encourage her to behave at a meal time. This poor young mother was left crying outside, shame on you, we will never visit again. What a pity neither you or your elderly clientele can remember being-young and needing support and empathy

We went here for my partners birthday. Really glad we did because the food was great! The fish was so fresh! The staff were helpful and efficient. They take pride in the establishment. I even raved about how nice and clean the loos were. We will be back

Small friendly coffee shop. Good selection of teas and coffees.I had excellent cappuccino (Large cup) and my son a chai latte. Lovely cake and an enormous piece of toffee and nut tart.Packed with nuts and more than enough for 2 really, still I managed to eat it all.

Phoenix is aptly named, as the original old coaching house burnt down in 2011,so now it has risen from the ashes and with new beginnings. Whether you are having breakfast ,lunch , an evening meal, coffee and cake or just out for a drink with friends, the
Have been here a few times now and canât say there is anything to dislike food wise, itâs good quality and reasonable priced with quick service. Only thing is the owners are not very friendly, never once have they really spoken to us unless itâs to take order, young waitresses seem friendly and always smile though. Thanks for your review. I am sorry that you feel we don't talk to you. I am always in trouble for spending too much time talking to customers .Ian on the other hand ,is the main chef ,and really likes to be behind the scenes ,but when a customer does ask to see him ,and praise the meal ,we then can't get him back in the kitchen ,as he is chatting too much. Hard one to answer really

Came across this little gem, from the outside it didnât look anything special, once inside what a difference, very friendly staff, good selection on the menu, what great tasting food and plenty of it, good prices. Would definitely recommend.

We were staying in a nearby hotel and were out for a walk with the dog. We stopped in here for a drink. There is a restaurant and bar both of which looked nice and inviting. If we were here for longer we would definitely give the food a try. As it was we had some drinks and had a pleasant time sitting in the beer garden across the road. A nice girl came out and gave the dog a treat but didnât seem interested in enforcing their stated âdogs on leadsâ policy. There were a couple of wee yappie mongrels running loose much to everyoneâ annoyance but no one seemed to care. The drinks were on the pricey side which might explain why it was quiet on an otherwise busy with people, warm, sunny Saturday afternoon. Thanks for the review. Glad you stopped by and were able to enjoy our lovely garden on what has lately been a rare sunny afternoon. We do ask for dogs to be kept on leads in the garden and our drinks are very fairly priced we believe for location & quality. We hope you will stop by again if you are in the area.
