My partner had the pork belly which was not over-fatty, beautifully cooked and came with to-die-for crackling. I had the Malet burger (100% real cow) with posh cheese, perfect chips and a dressed salad. Service, even on a busy Sunday lunchtime was efficient, friendly and fuss-free. Did I mention the helpings? You won't go home hungry. While I undid my belt a couple of notches my partner finished with the cheesecake which was so light it must have been home-made. Relaxed watching a bit of cricket on the green opposite - bliss.

We stopped here as we were travelling down to the area and we had not yet had lunch. We found the Black Horse online and thought we'd see if they were still serving food. They were â just. They do a service from 1200 to 1400 and 1800 to 2000. As we had a blowout planned for the evening, we both had the soup and shared a sandwich. The sandwich was nice in a freshly backed baguette and the soup was so clearly home made roasted carrot, tomato and garlic. Along with hearty food in a charming old boozer, and a decent pint we got a warm welcome, which is not a ubiquitous as one might hope.Well done The Black Horse.

We have used this venue before and have always seen it busy, but have always been looked after. This time we were shown to our table where we ordered a drink. Quite a while later I went to the bar to collect our drinks as they had not arrived. I was shocked to find that my drink was poured and had been left there, my partners had been half poured, but left under the tap.The young lady was racing around trying to serve everyone. Had she been trained, she would have finished pouring and delivered our drinks the went on to attend to those who had just turned up. We donât expect 5* service in a Toby, but we do expect a certain standard. The food was up to the usual standard and was enjoyable. Itâs a shame there is an atmosphere of penny pinching.

Let's start with a few of the whines and whines in the other reviews. No they don't take cards, it's a cash only business model. There's a sign up stating this, and a cash machine less than two minutes walk away. If this is a problem, go elsewhere. There's also no website, no menus other than the big sign up on the back wall over the fryer, and from what I've seen no advertising. Yet despite this the business is still running with plenty of customers. And one has to ask why this should be?Well the foods simply excellent. The chips are good, tasty, not soggy. Battered sausage crisp on the outside and flavourful on the inside. Fish has that delightful buttery texture and crispy Battered coating. The service is more old school, in terms of what one recieves, and that's no bad thing. It's a nice reminder of how businesses were not too long ago. To put it simply, this place doesn't need to show off, the food does this for it. The best thing is the price - 2 adults and a hungry teenager fed for under £15, that's great value. As a result I'll be making this a regular stop on my monthly meal choices.

The food was quiet good when you finally got it the pub was not busy but staff just loved to chat about boyfriends husbands but the till service was poor tables left unattended not good like I say food was reasonable for the price then the girl at the till at the bar where I had to pay as nobody came back even though Iâd asked for bill had the cheek to say should she keep the change which I found very rude and the service didnât warrant a tip and the crowning glory when we got outside a guy in chef whites including hat was emptying the bins in car park at that point I really wished I had not eaten in there no return ever sorry very poor and itâs not a case of they were busy it wasnât just lack of interest and the bin situation was disgusting no excuse for any part of our experience

We had been to Guildford and left at about 8am , heading back to Cornwall . By the time we got to Amesbury it was time to eat . We parked easily and walked to the pub , situated in the main Street of a beautiful town full of character . Proper old pub and typical efficient and friendly Wetherspoon service . Splendid breakfast which meant that I did not need to eat again until the evening .

A home from home kitchen serving delicious and tempting fare, healthy breakfast and lunch with a naughty Cake or two! Couple this with an Amazing collection of Tea and absolutely supurb Coffee...!!! Come join our family!
We thoroughly enjoyed our lunch here, not just because of the food. The owner, Callie, was a breath of fresh air and weâre glad we came in. The sandwiches were freshly made and the fillings overflowing. This a lovely little cafe, not your run of the mill cake and coffee shop, although it provided excellent examples of both. Itâs light and airy with comfortable seating and parking at the rear.Katie,We absolutely loved having you! Thank you so much for your kind review and we hope to see you again soon!Cals
