We stopped by this traditional roadside inn on a sunny day in early June. We live abroad so seek out a decent fish & chips when we visit. We were not disappointed. Sizeable piece of code in the tastiest, lightest, crispy batter I've ever had. Washed down with well-kept Cornish ales on tap. Highly recommended.

Menu looks lovely! We arrived earlyand had confirmed our menu choices by email requested a read and receipt.(this did not happen I had to confirm by phone).Food was very disappointing. I had chicken and mango burrito. Wish I had taken a picture. No mago to be seen, only an orange sludge I assumed was mango chutney. Chunks of chicken rice and cheese ( this was not as it was described). Another member of the party opted for tuna anchovy and caper pisa. What was served was 2 wrapp wit tomato past in between and everything else piled on top. This is not a pisa. Deserts were in a fridge and obviously not home made! We opted to give it a miss and drive 10 minutes down the road for coffee and cake!

This is a traditional pub/restaurant that offers b/b accomodation. It has a 45 seater restaurant and a beautiful.,spacious garden. It has been under the current ownership since March 2017 and is now a firm favourite with locals and visitors alike.Live music
We came here for our final family holiday meal and certainly were not disappointed. The interior of the pub is well put together, the bathroom was modern and clean, the staff were extremely friendly and nothing was a bother. We had specific requirement for the meal as we had the dog with us and a 9 month old baby but the staff were very accommodating and had reserved an area for us without any fuss. The table had been decorated with flowers and the atmosphere felt homelyThe service was prompt, and there was plenty on the menu to tickle our tastebuds as well as the plentiful options in the specials menu as well. There wasnât a long wait for food and when came it was extremely mouthwatering and pleasant. The lamb chops certainly were a favourite for one member of the family. The portions were of good size however it depended on the chosen dish. A very enjoyable evening felt by all, would definitely if ever back in the area.Thank you so much for taking the time to write such a full and generous review. You really have made such complimentary comments about everything from start to finish which fills us with great pride and suggests we are maintaining the high standards we set ourselves. We really look forward to seeing you all again soon.

A welcoming and friendly local pub in a picturesque corner of the Forest of Dean. Visit us for hearty dinners, lunches and snacks and an excellent selection of beers, ciders and wines. We are located just off the A46, next to the Castle in St Briavels, a
very nice location-just stopped off for a drink- type of village pub we like-sat in the garden quite and peaceful- drinks reasonably priced- had a wander to the church and castle.

Went to the Inn on a recommendation from where we were staying in Tintern. We were not disappointed!! The barmaid was extremely welcoming and obviously could tell we were not locals. The drinks and food were all well priced. The food was amazing!!Although the Inn quickly filled with locals we were not made to feel unwelcome or unwanted. A definite place to go to if staying or visiting Tintern.

The restaurant at the Royal George is called the Wild Hare. The wait staff were great. Very helpful and they were more than eager to answer our questions regarding the menu. My wife started with the smoked duck and I had the pork belly, both were delicious. We both had the same main which was the pan fried cod. Absolutely perfect! Seasonal veg to go with it. Our wine was a Pinot Noir from New Zealand. Dessert was the cheese platter for 2 with port. Overall a very delicious and satisfying meal!

We serve a variety of meals from a BLT to a Trio of Game - wild boar hare and venison - All of our food is freshly cooked to order and always locally sourced. We are a traditional Inn that serves exceptionally good food. We are well known for the variety
This place is a little gem. Iâm so glad we booked a table as itâs not large but clearly popular and we could see why. Fantastic olde world decor, real log fire, snug bar and great natural atmosphere. Food was great, good selection for those with either A hearty or tiny appetite. Home made desserts a real treat especially the cheesecake. All for an extremely reasonable price. Highly recommend

Great evening, good pub food, nice beer and great value. A little quiet but customer numbers down to the road closure which I hope doesnât have long term effects to the pub. Friendly & helpful landlord. Lovely walk opposite through churchyard to river bank walkWell worth a stop
