We called in here away from the main road for a lunch break on our way to Cornwall. It seemed appropriate to start our holiday with a west country pastie. It was quite possible the worst pastie I have eaten I did eat it because I was hungry, but it was not good. The pastry was dry and the meat inside overcooked to hard lumps. There was no juicyness to the filling, no diced vegetables, and it lacked any flavour. The chips were dry also. Not a great introduction to Devon pub fayre.

Imagine the best pubs in the land. You'll be thinking countryside views, roaring fires, welcoming atmosphere, cosy seating and delicious aromas drifting from the kitchens. Got an image in your head? Well, Smith's Brasserie is that, but better. Relaxed and
First time we have had tried this Brasserie, although had a few Afternoon Teas in the adjacent rooms before. The menu was sufficient and exciting.Food was very well presented and of high quality, no doubt locally produced ingredients.Service was good although the food a bit pricey, no doubt reflecting this is supposed to be a 5 star establishment.

We popped in for Sunday lunch at around 1pm and were pleasantly surprised they had all options available. I opted for the roast lamb with stuffing and it was one of the best roast dinners I have ever had. The price was reasonable at circa £11. The staff were very friendly and the atmosphere was great. Will definitely come again when in the areas

Coming into Lustleigh is a nightmare from the wrong direction. Satnav accuracy is dubious. In The Cleave we had a warm welcome, I assume from the owner/landlord and his wife.Varied menu and decent quality. Prices very reasonable and good wine and beers.Would definitely recommend making the effort.

The White Hart Hotel & Restaurant is surrounded by rolling farmland and Devon is bordered by abundant coastline, so sourcing fresh local meat, game and fish is never a problem for the restaurantâs chefs. They source the best new local suppliers and believ
We had dinner only once during our week stay. We ate venison which was fine but were served very small portions. The service was remote and disinterested. Expensive for what we ate.

We were staying in Torquay, were out for the day, came across Moretonhampstead & after the Motor Museum, thought we would have a Drink. The Pub looked lovely from the outside with the Flowers & Hanging Baskets, so in we went. I had a Pint of Porter, which was Really Nice. Friendly Lady behind the Bar, a lovely Country Pub.

Please come and visit us and see the transformation of this beautiful old pub.
Stayed in East Devon for our wedding anniversary. Having rented a cottage in North Bovey on the green a couple of years ago, we were intrigued to watch the renovation of this pub following a fire in 2017.We promised ourselves that when we returned weâd have a meal here. The setting is wonderful albeit compromised by challenging parking when the pub is busy. The decor felt rather clinical, as based on the village setting, youâd imagine old timber, warm and cosy; the stark grey panelling belies a rather modern ambience not really in keeping with the olde worlde surroundings. We ordered mushroom soup & crispy pig cheeks for starters - the soup was a winner but sadly the combination of homemade piccalilli and battered pulled pork didnât really taste of much.Main course was Dartmoor steak (med rare) was more (med well done), again not hugely flavoursome. My wife opted for the mussels which unfortunately were very gritty; sadly mussels is one of her favourite dishes. The waitress kindly quickly exchanged this for sea bass which had been destined for another table, so top marks for a swift recovery.Always ask myself would I come again.... Hmm not sure.

We were staying in a nearby hotel and were out for a walk with the dog. We stopped in here for a drink. There is a restaurant and bar both of which looked nice and inviting. If we were here for longer we would definitely give the food a try. As it was we had some drinks and had a pleasant time sitting in the beer garden across the road. A nice girl came out and gave the dog a treat but didnât seem interested in enforcing their stated âdogs on leadsâ policy. There were a couple of wee yappie mongrels running loose much to everyoneâ annoyance but no one seemed to care. The drinks were on the pricey side which might explain why it was quiet on an otherwise busy with people, warm, sunny Saturday afternoon. Thanks for the review. Glad you stopped by and were able to enjoy our lovely garden on what has lately been a rare sunny afternoon. We do ask for dogs to be kept on leads in the garden and our drinks are very fairly priced we believe for location & quality. We hope you will stop by again if you are in the area.
