We tried their Breakfast offering, and it was good food at a very good price. The Menu is structured for the number of items you require, for example a fried egg, rasher of bacon, sausage, tomatoes, mushrooms etc, are an item each, and you can choose 4, 6, 8, 10 etc items, all with a free cup of Tea/Coffee. I choose the 10 items and had a good filling breakfast. The choices were extensive including Onion Rings etc, and the food quality and service were fine, although to be honest the sausages were âCatering Qualityâ, but it was all very edible. However that said, the surroundings are austere, cold and impersonal with only basic seating at the tables. In general the Red Lion could desperately do with a makeover to add some âcheerâ into the place. A good value for money breakfast, but I would not choose to visit again until it is âbrightened upâ.

What can I say, this pub is an absolute gem! Mum & I enjoyed a fabulous lunch here, proper home cooked food served in a warm & friendly atmosphere. From the moment we arrived we felt so welcome, exceptionally friendly service, but you can't really call it that - we just felt at home! Thank you Allan & your parents, we loved your friendly banter & obvious affection for people - please do not change a thing!

Unfortunately our experience here on Sunday 1st September 2019 was not a good one, we were looking forward to a hot Sunday Roast- sadly this was not the case- we had roast pork with very undercooked veg, the roast potatoes were not properly roasted- all served with some sort of mustard sauce and no gravy - the pork was so thinly sliced it had the appearance of mass produced box meats - additionally the meals were warm and not hot - at £13.00 per roast it was not good value for money. The front of house staff were very hospitable and helpful with nice décor - but the overall atmosphere was a bit clinical for a lovely looking County Inn on a busy Road - its a shame as we were returning customers from several years ago where we had enjoyed our meals and the atmosphere - however this was not to be on our last visit :(Hello, Thank you for taking time to give feedback. We're very sorry to hear that you weren't completely satisfied with your meal. We pride ourselves on the qualty of our food, and it sounds like your meal didn't meet the high standard that we aim to provide. We have passed your comments onto the kitchen and will be working on all of the issues you raised. We're glad to hear that our staff were professional and friendly, and hope that we get the chance to show you how amazing our food can be with another visit in the future.

Came on a recommendation. Fantastic service. Started with the scallops, amazing. Followed with steamed cod and the Seabass, both totally perfect. Delicate sauces in the side. The unusual ratatouille was so good we asked how they did it. This is a restaurant for foodies. Servings not huge so have a side or two. Great value. We will be back. Dear TimGPoundbury,Thank you for the great review, We are really pleased you enjoyed your dining experience here at Underwood and please thank whoever recommended us to you. Just back from having breakfast. What can I say?! It was absolutely the best breakfast we've had in a very, very long while. My partner went for the full English, I had the veggie alternative. It was freshly cooked, massive, piping hot, presented very well, and delicious. The toast/fried bread were thick doorsteps of fresh bread, with proper butter.Fresh tomato, fresh mushroom, lovely sausages, eggs cooked just right, hash browns, beans. Meat one had bacon and black pudding as well. Oh, and a hot drink too. Either £7.99 or two for £12, unbelievable value!!The staff are warm and welcoming, and service is really swift.Absolutely 10/10, we will definitely go again.Well done to the Carrington Inn.

It is an interesting building, often the case with spoons restaurants. You know exactly what the menu will be and they're always reasonably priced. Positives over... Ordered meals for 2 adults and 6 children, ended up with the wrong pizza so one of the kids had to sit and wait with no meal while the rest of us ate our (cold) food. Staff brought us an extra burger, which we hadn't ordered, then while we were trying to eat our meals, they stood at the table going through our receipt with us (leave us alone to eat our food!!) only to decide after 5 minutes of pestering, we had neither ordered nor paid for this erroneous burger and it was their kitchen's mistake. Long wait at the bar to order food and drinks. The worst bit though, there was a long, fair hair entwined in my salad and a chunk of some plastic wrapper in it too. Luckily the Koppaberg is so cheap I drank lots of it,so was reasonably chilled out about the poor food hygiene. Doubt anyone ever died from eating someone else's hair, although it was pretty off putting to say the least. To be fair, I probably should have complained and given them the chance to rectify their mistakes, but we'd only popped out for a bit of tea and I really couldn't be bothered.

There appears to be no water plumbed into the gentlemen's urinals! The toilets SMELL they regularly look and smell unclean and lack daily inspection the pee mats ìn each urinal do not appear sufficient. Shame really as they seem to have most things going okay

We ate here for two nights/two breakfasts and the choice and quality was excellent. Great to see a slightly different dinner menu each day reflecting the food in season. The breakfast choice was also good - the American style pancakes were light and fluffy. Very good indeed

Booked here for dinner and overnight stay, it has a great location near Wells, Glastonbury and Street. The pub is lovely with reasonable prices. The highlight was dining in the train carriage, food was amazing with attentive service. A lovely welcome to this part of the world.
