2nd visit and the food and service is absolutely fantastic. Authentic greek food, souvlaki and pizzas fabulous. It is obvious where the chefs are from as they have pride and passion creating thier dishes.Very very tasty.Well done everyone. Travelled from peterlee to penshaw so it must be good. See you all soon

I canât fault the food at all, yet the service at front of house was below standard. We were made to feel quite unwelcome when the waitress checked her watch (arrived at 1750 and they serve till 1900) when we arrived to see if they were still serving. We sat for ten minutes before being asked if we wanted to see a menu, never asked if our food was okay, never asked if we wanted more drinks, never asked if we wanted a desert then sat for half an hour waiting for the bill. There are much better places in the area to spend your hard earned pennies so we wonât be returning in a hurry. Itâs a shame as the chef deserves more after their hard work.

I'd read some good and bad reviews and decided to go Anyway. The pub, hotel looks lovely and would be good for drinks etc but food, the Sunday lunch was very bland. Roast potatoes and parsnips were over cooked, mashed potato I couldn't eat as it had a very strange taste. Fish cakes starter, fish cakes were very small, there were three, these also rather over cooked. Won't be returning for food

Visited with Ashleigh & Diane on a cold January day - after a warming drink we selected from the extensive menu and were content with the fare in terms of both quality & quantity. My homemade steak & ale pie was excellent, not a single piece of gristle in the goodly sized slice which came with equally generous portions of mash & veg. Downsides were slow service (despite being attentive) and no backboard specials despite a mention in the menu. Nothing badly amiss but equally, nothing really special to tempt us back......

Friendly bar/ restaurant. Situated on the river Wear in Fatfield. Large outside patio overlooking the river. Serving good food and a wide range of drinks.
Me and my husband went for an evening meal. The place itself is nice, with a friendly atmosphere. The staff were very friendly as well. The meal itself was ok. The butterfly chicken was really small , and would have liked salad and coleslaw with it. The chips I had were ok. I think for price i paid, there could have been a lot more to it . Bit disappointed unfortunately. Not sure if we will go back

Traditional roadside English country pub/restaurant, recently extended creating new dining areas, kitchen and toilets. 'Brewery tap' for Leamside Brewery which is housed in an adjacent building.
My wife and i had a sunday lunch recently and found it to e very nice.We arrived in the bar area around 2 ish and ordered drinks and put our name down for a table when it comes free.We sat in the dog friendly bar and got a table after about 20 mins.We went through into the restaurant area although you could eat in the bar area, approx 8 tables with real ale drinkers in positions around the bar.The menu should all three courses with starters @ £5 ish and the main course £9 and the puddings £5 ish.We ordered starters and main courses - cheesy garlic mushrooms and beef brisket. The mushrooms came and was very nice but was missing some bread for the the garlic cream. The main course when it arrived was accompanied by two fresh roast pots, freah yorkshire pudding, two slices of beef and a veg assortment arrived with two large carrots, cabbagemcauliflower cheese, mushy peas and mashed potato/turnip.Extra gravy was requested. The food was very nic especially the roasties and yorkshire puddings. The disappointment was the mash and turnip which was a bit tasteless and a small amount of cabbage between two.The svc was very efficient and friendly and the pub had a nice ambience as it was busy.Would we return - most definitely and it has real ales for beer lovers in the small bar area.Recommended.

Had the strangest lunch ever!!Kofta kebab served with rice, coleslaw salad and a pita bread....sounds fine but it was served with the pitta on the bottom, then the salad and rice with the kebab on top! Pleasant enough but almost impossible to eat as not possible to cut/tear or pick up the bread without scattering rice everywhere! My friend has scampi which was reminiscent of 1970s chicken-in-basket. Both meals served with sauces/pickles in little plastic pots. OK (if strange) meal, nice staff, terrible toilets. We wonât be back!

Small dog friendly pub located on the edge of Herrington country park serving real ales and home cooked food.
Visited twice, both on a Friday night for tapas. Can't fault the food, it was bautiful. However on both occasions terrible service. Staff were unwelcoming and unfriendly on both visits. A mistake that was made by staff was made out to be my own and i was spoken too as if I was stupid for questioning it. The mistake was still not rectifed. It appears a lovely pub for locals but as a visitor we were made to feel unwelcome. For this reason I would not visit again, despite the food being lovely.Dear FrancescaI am delighted that you like our food but I am shocked that you found our staff to be unwelcoming and unfriendly. they all work really hard to give a good experience to customers both regular and new.people generally comment on how nice the girls are
