The reviews for this establishment are very misleading. My partner and I visited off the back of the positive reviews that itâs had. I pre-booked a table prior to attending but there was absolutely no need, the bar and restaurant were both empty. I found the quality and presentation very average. The meat was a poor cut, the mushrooms were cooked in butter which was disgusting and the onion rings were coated a huge clump of greasy batter. Donât expect great things. Wonât be returning.

Went with my wifr for a meal as we were staying locally for a few days. We got there early, before it openend and had a wander around the village. WHen we got back we sat on the patio with our dog and ordered our food. I had Grilled Chicken, my wife had the pie (Chicken Ham & Leek). Food was lovely, the service excellent. We were the only customers but so often that is when service falls down, not here. They were very good. Not the cheapest place we went to but certainly worth the money

Pub was open nice and early for trade.Locals and regulars galore were treated to free bacon rolls and excellent drinks.Friendly staff and a very clean and tidy pub / restaurant.Well worth a visit for both drinks and food.Highly recommended in Cwmbran.

Been here a few times with generally disappointing results.Tempted by a 40% discount voucher we tried it again, and were pleasantly surprised with the food, the camembert starter was baked reasonably well, and the mains of cottage pie ( although rather dull ) tasted fine and the chicken wrapped in cheese and bacon was ok, once again we were seated and given drinks before being given the now seemingly compulsory news when visiting the ashbridge that half the food on the menu is unavailable, including what we initially intended to order,this info should be given on entering not when you've ordered drinks as we probably wouldn't have bothered staying, on the whole a little better than previous visits so going in the right direction.

The food was good but spoiled by having to book and order before arrival. The food was good but rushed in this very busy and vibrant pub. The gardens are superb and helped keep the children occupied. Friendly bar and service staff, joined in our Banta with us at the table. Four starters and four mains, all very good. Definitely recommend the garlic mushrooms as a starter or the king prawns. Staff were very rude and abrupt from arrival to finish. The tables were not wiped down properly and the plates were unusually small, making it difficult to even cut the meats. The Sunday lunch itself was extremely underwhelming. Such a shame as the place seemed like it had so much potential from the outside. Would not recommend!Martha 1 review ? In your entire life ??!!! I don't believe for one second that you are a genuine customer, Sunday was a fantastic day we achieved 140 covers with NO complaints, all our staff are happy and helpful, kind regards Beverley.

We dropped in by chance while were in Pontypool. The Lower New Inn is an old coaching inn that has now become a gastropub. We received a warm welcome and had an excellent lunch - steak and chips/ veggie lasagne/ crumble and custard - all very tasty and well-presented. About £30 for two courses, drinks and coffee at the end. The restaurant was full of local people at lunchtime - always a good sign.

Have only moved to Coed Eva 6 months ago and have tried the Blinking Owl quite a few times for lunch, have only been disappointed once when the steak my husband had was mainly gristle but was changed straight away for a lovely steak that was edible. We like the Blinking Owl as it is local, we will definatley be back.Hello Pauline C, Thanks for leaving us a lovely review and showing even when there was a problem, that we rectified it!
