Traditional Village Inn. Gluten Free Options . Vegetarian Options. Dogs and Muddy Boots welcome. Children's Menu available. Lunchtime Light Bites Menu. Pretty Beer Garden.
We ate with friends on both a Friday and Saturday night recently and we could not have been made more welcome! The food was excellent and everyone we spoke to, including numerous staff, could not have been friendlier or more helpful. Our friends were staying from the US and we turned up, not having booked, and still received excellent service and fabulous food. Highly recommend the vegetarian oatcake with Brie and walnut or the burger! We were a party of 11 with 6 kids and a puppy! - so not the easiest group to accommodate but The Crispin did it admirably! We will definitely be back and we strongly recommend it to all. A proper country, dog-friendly, village pub who offer all you could want!Excellent!

Traditonal pub, with a modern twist serving a selction of well kept cask ales, and excellent pub grub.
A long way from home, we came to The Manners for lunch. Inside and outside it appears to be a no-frills pub. The food, however, is absolutely amazing. A high proporttion of items on the menu were either gluten-free or could be made so (important for us as one of us is gluten-free). One of us had cod wrapped in Parma ham with green beans and citrus cream sauce, the other had honey roasted belly pork on black pudding hash. Exceedingly generous portions, beautifully presented, exquisitely cooked. In decades of eating pub lunches and dinners, I do not recall one as good as this one at The Manners. With a side of veg, two lime and sodas the bill came to £33 - unbelievably good value. The super-friendly waitress told us that a husband and wife team own and run the pub and do the cooking. Well done to them and many thanks!A lovely place which we will be back to next year when we make our annual pilgrimage to the Rock and Fossil Fair in Bakewell.

Husband and I stopped in on a spontaneous drive through the peak district and being left disappointed at another nearby pub. We weren't disappointed! We were greeted promptly and the place was warm and inviting. The food looked amazing and the prices were great!! I had a steak, cheese and ale pie with mash and it was absolutely scrumptious. My husband had the Yorkshire stack and he was well impressed. This was a great find and were so glad we stopped in.

The Devonshire Arms, Inn and Kitchen offers good honest food, great ales and wines, 11 en suite rooms and warm hospitality for anyone seeking escape, exploration, socialising, relaxation or refuelling.
After a tiring day âdoingâChatsworth this was a comfortable and welcoming hosterly. The room was comfortable but on the smallish side having been advertised as a larger room! It was clean and had everything we needed.Food wise the menu was typical pub, tasty and served with smile. However as value for money it was overpriced.

How do you keep happy a very fussy green warrior, two young blokes recovering from the rugby and middle aged hungery game fans. The Moon managed this last Saturday, the veggie crepes were approved of and the accompanying salad was lovely. The fish and chips large and sustaining, camembert cheese starter gorgeous, the guinea fowl really good, antipeto a bit weak not much variety and quite pricey. Very good service from a very happy guy (obviously hadnt watched the rugby!) and a great country pub atmosphere, real fires on a horrible evening

The food was outstanding. The large portion of quiche was superb and great value for money. The steak and ale pie made on site was delicious which I cannot recommend highly enough. Service was swift and Cheryl was an exceptional host. Thank you for a fantastic lunch! We will be back.Such an amazing 5* review thank you so much for taking the time to share. I recently left a poor review after having a bad Sunday roast so it's only fair to review now we've been back. Today we selected the pork schnitzel. It was served with chips, a cheese sauce and crispy onions. Personally, I would have appreciated some veg. However, it was delicious. Only available until the end of October, I believe, which is a shame.Thank you for your feedback. So pleased that you came back and everything was good for you. The seasonal specials will be changing around every 6-8 weeks. Look forward to seeing you again soon.

We were staying in Chesterfield for 4 days and I found this place when looking for places near us on-line. We were really happy with the food. Cajun chicken burgers were delicious. Thought the portion sizes were great. Would recommend this place.
