We went to the Dog and Partridge for Sunday lunch and the food is nice although a little pricey. After spending quite a large amount of money, the barman (or he could have been the landlord) was really rude towards us. It was really irrational and quite upsetting - I believe he thought we were being too noisy but there was only 4 of us (2 couples) and we were sat in the garden that was practically empty. You want to be able to go to a pub to chat and relax which is impossible with this barman around. We won't be going back while he is there.Dear JoWe are really sorry about your terrible experience you have received on your last visit to Dog and Partridge.This kind of behaviour will not be tolerated by our company and the person in question has now left.Hope to see you again at some point in the future.Regards Tomasz and Grace

This has always been our 'go to' restaurant for birthday meals & special occasions. Reading the other reviews I have to agree that this place has really gone downhill. When we first walked in a guy turned and looked at us, no smile, then just carried on what he was doing and left us standing there until his colleague came! The Sunday menu is very limited. We had roasts, so disappointing, you get much better quality meat and veg at the Toby Carvery and at £15 a plate it's an absolute rip off. Also they add 12.5% to the bill for non exsistent service! (We couldn't be bothered to argue it as we were already so disappointed and didn't want to make a birthday treat any worse.)The pork was fatty and tough. The cauliflower cheese didn't get to the table until we were half way through our meal and it was just chucked on. The potatoes were undercooked frozen ones, I left half of my dinner and the waitress didn't even query it. All in all, we wont go back. Need to find a new favourite now!

First thoughts were that the menu is rather extensive which sometimes means not so good food. Some restaurateurs think offering customers a wide array of items will be more appealing. It doesnât take long to realise that an overly large menu includes an excessive amount of prep time, the bigger chance of food spoilage than a smaller, more streamlined menu.As for La Cloche, my opinion is that whilst the food was on average 7/10 we maybe had chosen the wrong dishes. I had the starter special of fish soup and my wife had the french onion soup. The fish soup was quite good and the onion soup whilst reasonably tasty but was possibly heated up in a microwave as it burnt your mouth if not blown on to for a long time. For mains I had fish pie and my wife the ratatouille. Fish pie again was possibly microwaved and finished off under the grill to melt the cheese. Couldnât eat it for about five minutes as it was far too hot. Never had fish pie with mashed fish before, I had one prawn, one scallop and the rest mashed potatoes and tiny pieces of mashed fish but hardly any creamy sauce.Being used to very good restaurants and prepared to pay well for good food we found La Cloche rather lacking. For these prices, a reasonable but certainly not a great night. Best course of the evening was the fresh bread. Service was average and lacked attention to detail such as removing the unwanted wine glasses and nobody bothered to ask if everything was OK. Wonât bother to return and does the manager ever bother to smile?

After an unwelcome visit some months ago, I decided to try again after finding the White Hart closed until 3pm on a Sunday (!), and was met by chatty and charming ladies Sarah and I think, Becky. I was immediately attracted to the range of beers - Black Sheep best, St. Austell Proper Job and Robinson's Trooper, which I didn't try. The Hogs Back Tea was off.The beer was excellent, but frankly, that's not enough. Without food, except for a bag of crisps, it's nowhere near attractive enough for a Sunday lunchtime drink.I can understand how difficult it is for a pub to turn a profit, especially when so many punters have been turned away for various reasons in the past, but I saw no evidence of an effort or investment to give the customers what they want - especially at this time of year. There was almost no Christmas decoration, no food and sadly, no customers staying for more than a pint, except for my wife and me.This is the most historic pub in Bagshot and should be able to raise its game, as it has done for the last 3 or 4 hundred years. I hate giving average marks to an ancient establishment with a vibrant history, but if it wasn't for the beer, my rating would have been lower. A pub cannot expect to succeed by serving good beer without something to eat.Please, 3 Mariners, try hard to make this pub a success. I wish you luck.

We stayed here for an event at Pirbright army training centre which is about 10 minutesâ drive from here. We had a superior double room which was roomy, scrupulously clean and had a lovely comfortable bed. The food at the pub was very nice. Aspects of the breakfast were a little disappointing eg unsalted butter, muffins not toasted enough and too much Hollandaise on the eggs benedict. Also my husband had scrambled eggs one morning and he felt that they were pasteurised eggs rather than fresh. To end on a positive, all staff were very friendly and welcoming. Thank you for a pleasant stay. Hi Nicola, many thanks for your review and feedback, glad you enjoyed your stay with us but I apologise for the couple of issues with your breakfasts which I will address with our chef team. We always use fresh eggs so apologies if the quality did not shine through on this occasion. Hope to welcome you again next time you are in the area :o)

Called in for lunch,The first thing that hits you is the awful smell inside the door way.Time for a coat of paint I think or best a good clean.Empty when we arrived.The staff as always attentive and caring, which is a bonus.However, the food is pretty dire.Rib eye steak at £20.00 so thin....I wanted medium to well.WHY cannot that be got right, so bloody it was awful and fatty.Thin chips cold and so hard I thought I was eating crisps.He had the ribs and chicken, over cooked and over priced.This meal used to be a winner,, not anymore.PLEASE GET THE LADIES LOOS SORTED OUT,.The smell is dire like walking into a black hole.Dark and dingy.Sorry I cannot see us returning anytime soon.

5 of us went on a Friday , a very warm welcome.nothing was too much trouble ( a few off menu requests) all good. The eggs benedict were really delicious, the ham was thick and tasty as was the hollondaise.Others had smashed ago and poached eggs, smoked haddock yumm.sausages were delicious too.big pots of tea, refilled.Really good value breakfasts all round, we will definitely be doing it again.Thanks to the team.You are all so welcome and thank you so much for your very kind review. Lovely staff very welcoming,they have a new Fresh pizza menu ( barrelandstonepizzas)2 sizes small and large , absolutely delicious really authentic Italian pizzas, we had mushroom and truffle, and chicken . Really good, and they are going to be doing Takeout soon too . Very reasonably priced too.

Lunched here recently.Nice day so decided to eat in garden. Garden was dirty, tissues and rubbish all over floor. Wasn't busy at all, one other table. Filthy overflowing ashtrays too.Beer was awful. Wine was nice.Food was poor. Greasy burgers in soggy rolls. Sandwiches at £8.50 were on Tesco sliced bread, no salad available just a tiny pot of grated carrot and peppers??? Couple of spoons of coleslaw. Very odd. Worst overpriced pub lunch I've had in years. Been here once before, wasn't great then either, has got worse. Pub inside was virtually empty on a Saturday too. Such a wasted opportunity here. Iâm so very sorry you had a bad experience and would of really appreciated it if it was said on the day. A little confused as the garden Is cleared every day, burger buns are toasted and burgers are cooked to order in the oven. Bread is fresh daily from the bakery (Tesco way to far to travel) Unsure about the salad as again itâs delivered fresh daily. We also have 5* rating on our beers..Home made Coleslaw and chips come with our freshly made sandwiches, (coleslaw as a dressing)so we are rather shocked to read this, compared to our other great reviews.
