This is the third time that my husband, friend and I have visited Shahib's for a pre-theatre meal before going to the Old Laundry. Its location and early opening are perfect for allowing us a relaxed meal close to the theatre. We have always enjoyed the food which is flavoursome with non-overwhelming portions. I felt that the heat level was well described in the menu. My husband started with the onion bhaji which he thought were very nicely done and not greasy as can sometimes be the case. My friend started with the bhuna prawn which she also thoroughly enjoyed. Our mains arrived sizzling to the table. My main of fateh special bhuna was rich and satisfying with the garlic flavouring coming through and just the right amount of heat. My friend and I shared a vegetable pilau rice which was delicious, very morish. The service was prompt without being rushed and inquiries were made as to our satisfaction with our meal. The atmosphere and decor are quite traditional and pleasant. My only criticism of the evening would be that, when we arrived, we were directed to a four top with only two place settings. Instead of setting another place properly, a partial setting (there was not a full set of tableware) was removed from a neighbouring table and placed in the centre of our table, leaving us to sort out the placement ourselves. I thought that this could have been better performed and so I have not given a full 5-star rating. However, it did not significant impact our evening and we will certainly return to Shahib's, particularly for our pre-theatre meals (we do not live in the Bowness area, so don't generally dine here unless attending the theatre).

Japanese restaurant and deli shop importing Japanese products. Sushi, sashimi, seafood omakase. Vegan and vegetarian options. Pescatarian, gluten free. Taster menus, takeaway and cookery school. Sushi making ingredients and Japanese teas. Bookings highly
We found this restaurant by chance and they had a cancellation, luckily for us.We had sushi, which was freshly prepared made in front of us, chicken gyoza and edamame. We finished with the Kyoto duck which was perfectly cooked and in a beautifully balanced sauce to aid digestion. All the while watching the chef prepare food for 14 other diner's. This place is an excellent experience a whole evening and we weren't rushed even though they could be a genneric restaurant and get you in and out. We'll definitely be returning to this hidden gem, lovely hosts, fantastic food.

We dined at Wabi Sabi last night to celebrate a special birthday with a 7 course taster menu. The evening from start to finish was superb. Everything from the ambience, our wonderful host, who explained all the courses and the beautiful presentation of each of the dishes made this dining experience something that just has to be shared. The Sashimi and Sushi with Native Lobster and Tuna Toro was just divine. Whole Langoustine and Snow Crab Tempura and Native Lobster Ramen an absolute taste explosion. The Sesame and Miso Cheese Cake and Ice Cream was a delicious surprise, but the jewel in the crown has to be the Japanese Wagyu, never before have I tasted such perfection!!! Wabi Sabi is an absolute must for anyone visiting our wonderful Lake District. Thank you again for such a memorable night.

What I liked initially about this restaurant was the immaculate bar and restaurant area, absolutely gleaming. The staff were very chatty and friendly and the takeaway food was excellent. Definitely worth paying cash to get 20% discount which probably has a link to VAT exemption for not eating in but more than happy to have had £8 deducted from the takeaway menu price whatever the reason.I'd recommend the takeaway food and will be trying the restaurant next time we visit bowness.

Very happy to find this after reading some indifferent reviews of other oriental restaurants in the area. A busy little place, and we made the mistake of failing to book for an early dinner on a Tuesday night. But they said we'd be ok in 40 minutes and were happy to wander round the town. Very pleased we chose to wait because the food was well up to the best local Chinese places in our area. And very friendly service despite them being rushed off their feet coping with many take away orders. Strongly recommended and excellent value.

Take Away
Absolutely top class food. The menu had different variations to ours at home such as curry spring rolls and salt and pepper beef. The pork curry was fantastic. Hot salt and pepper chips just the right amount of heat. Usually busy when we walk past. Don't think they do delivery and are closed Mondays (I think) Worth phoning in an order or placing one then going for a swift pint in one of the local pubs. A must if you are self catering in Ambleside.
