Perfect for families, ideal for cycle enthusiasts - so if your family likes to cycle you get to have twice the fun and joy out your holiday at Sol Garden Istra. The interior is decorated in a rustic Istrian village style, with a lot of lavender and olive trees planted everywhere. The lobby looks exactly like a tiny village square, with reception on one end and a bar on the other - but the rooms are urban and comfortable. When not cycling through the Istrian countryside looking for a perfect tavern for lunch, you'll enjoy a spacious outdoor pool with a red brick sundeck around it (there is a smaller indoor pool so that you can keep up your training regime even during the colder months). The beach is some 100 meters away, through a nice pine tree alley. There are tennis courts nearby (Umag being the tennis center of this part of the world, ATP tennis tour and all) and you are welcome to use the gym and the fitness center.
We booked this hotel because it’s rated very good on many portals. The Hotel itself ist huge and has a great pool and Bay Area. The room are also big, but unfortunately very old, dirty, if you look closer, the bathrooms have mold and are poorly cleaned. The food was the worst. The buffet has a good variety of choices, unfortunately the quality is very low. The Personal is not very friendly at all. There is no help with the luggage, no information when checking- in. No recommendation!

Hotel Aurora is one of Croatia's first environmentally-friendly hotels. And because it is the only all-inclusive resort in Umag, Aurora is a perfect destination for the traveler who wants to enjoy every aspect the hotel has to offer. Located directly on the beach, the outdoor swimming pool, which is shaded by an olive tree, a symbol of Istrian lifestyle, presents spectacular views of the Adriatic Sea. This Umag accommodation is the ideal spot for romantic getaways and fun-filled family holidays.
Very large hotel. When we arrived it was not full but more people arrived daily. Although there were queues for the bar and food they coped very well. Room was basic but clean and all we needed. Food was delicious. Lots of veggies, salads, fish, pasta and meats. Dessertslooked lovely but not so tasty.. although plenty of variety andnice hazelnut icecream. Good staff. Loved the free bike hire. The wine on all inclusivewas perfectly drinkable. Evening entertainment was a bit hit and miss but all in all had a great time.

Luxury private villas in Umag, Croatia Istrian style villas, each with a private garden accommodating up to 8 people, are beautiful relaxation oases, hidden in a quiet, car-free corner of the Stella Maris Resort. To carry your luggage at arrival and departure, there are golf carts and a driver at your disposal. Cars stay parked near the reception. Istrian Villas are shaded by ancient pines and only a few steps away from a Blue Flag beach or the pools. Some villas have a whirlpool bath on the terrace, others offer a hammock intended for afternoon naps, when you tire from all the sports and available activities. The breeze and sun will caress you, as you listen to the waves lapping at the shore. If you like to swim no matter the weather, you'll love the indoor pool access available to all Istrian Villas guests.
It was our first holiday as a family with our one year old daughter. The resort is nice, villas a bit old schools, could do some refurbishment but after all it was enjoyable stay. We had self catering, we didn’t use any restaurant at the resort so can’t say anything about them. It was after high season and because of corona not many people so it was nice, quiet. Staff friendly.

The Polynesia apartments are the last in a long line of beach hotels/apps on the Umag seafront. Spacious and modest with a lovely terrace or balconies, they provide easy access to the paved or pebble beach located around a beautiful bay. Plenty of playgrounds, so there's one close to your apartment, no matter where you are. The pool is nice and big, and there’s also a shallow one with fountains for the kids. You can find natural rocky beaches up and down the coast, in 10-15 minutes. The surroundings have everything for a pleasant stay: mini golf, restaurants, shops, bars, ice cream, massage parlours, watersports and sports rentals. The famous Umag ATP tennis stadium is very close. You can start your day with a yoga or aqua aerobics class, and keep moving till the sun sets: swimming, Zumba, Pilates, cycling, paddle boat, diving school, parasailing - have some dinner served with a beautiful sunset, then go to Umag for clubbing (it is 10 km away, which is 40 minutes walk along the seas
We stayed there in Apartments Polynesia for 5 nights, with 3 children. We slept in Bungalow for 5 people, room No. 934. The bungalow it self was good located, close to the sea side in the first row, in a quiet area, in a shadow, which is necessary when there is no air condition. The accommodation would desperately need some investment and renovation. Everything is pretty old, very used and not working.(see pics) As children said at the arrival, inside it smells like somewhere in the cellar!(dank air hit you) You can not open the door to bedroom cause its two small and bed is there. You can see mold everywhere in the bathroom. Toilet is leaking when flushing, water tap is missing the water regulator so water splashes on you. Right after the arrival when leaving some food in the kitchen, it was suddenly full of ants! Every chair inside or outside is different... the whole accommodation is outdated!!! Too much money for this kind of room! Food in general was good, but as the complex is quite big, many apartments and people, be ready for mass of tourists during breakfast and dinner, its problem to find a place to sit sometimes and you are almost fighting for food and standing in the queues! Just grab what is available at that moment and eat, especially for dinner, when there is only 2 hours time window for all the hundreds of people to come and eat. There should longer time for the dinner, not only two hours! Positive things were the evening entertainment for children and adults and willingness of the personnel. Also the resort it self has good location and lot of greenery. Also the beach with blue flag is nothing special, there is a mud at the bottom and when there is more people it looks like a dirty lake, not a clear Croatian sea. Also you can find there trash/rubbish on the beach, as looks like nobody is cleaning it regularly ( e.g. some plastics, one shoe, swimming trunks...) Better to use near by public beaches... And definitely, if you decide for this resort, I would suggest to go for more expensive Katoro Apartments instead... we wanted to change for these after the first night, but it was fully booked.... Our friends who were there with us, they had also outdated small apartment and the ground floor without any terrace or balcony, overlooking the parking lot and other houses, terrible...

Four star family beach apartments in Umag, Croatia If you like your accommodation to be so close to the beach you can hear the murmur of the sea from your window; you'll love Apartments Amfora. Blessed with a shaded terrace and a grilling station, these family apartments located within Stella Maris Resort are minutes away from the children's pool and the waterpark with sprinklers, slides and all kinds of fun water effects. Lots of available activities, excursions and adventure will keep even the liveliest of families entertained through the day (if the beach is not the only option). You could cycle into the rolling hills of Istria, visiting picturesque villages and quaint taverns, adore the landscape or get a boat and explore north and south from your location. Beaches are Blue Flag clean and beautiful. Great fitness classes might inspire your family to pursue Zumba, Pilates and weight training and return from holiday in better shape than when you left.
We stayed at the end of July with the family of 4. Pros: Location is great. Incredible sunsets on the beach and the marina, despite the numerous hotels and camping using the beach (even people not staying in these hotels were coming to this beach) there was plenty of room, you could keep a distance to other vacationers. Pools are crowded, though, the indoor pool was more quiet. Plenty of sunbeds on the beach. Relatively few mosquitoes. The weather was perfect, even under the rain showers we could relax on the spacious balcony. Friendly room service (cleaning and maintenance). We had a traditional Balkans hospitality: the staff was very friendly, and regardless of the challenges they had at the end of the day the problems were solved. ie: the sofa bed collapsed when we tried to open it, and 1 cleaning lady, 1 security guard and 2 maintenance guys were needed to have it fixed up, also the lock was in such a poor condition we could not close our doors. Btw there are no keycards but old fashioned keys to the door. Separate and strong air conditioning for living room and bedroom Great department store at the resort: you can buy anything you need in the Konzum store. To be improved: Worn down furniture and rooms. The beds, sofas and bathrooms were in unacceptable condition. (I’d recommend the management to try sleeping on the sofa bed for a week, they would regret all their sins). The bathroom was last refurbished in the mid 90s, and you can see it. There’s an electric water heater INSIDE the shower, it’s trilling to shower with the chilling risk of electricity) Front desk. The staff at the reception is unfriendly and not guest focused. One example: we had half board, and according to the website of the hotel you can exchange your half board to a discount at the ala cart restaurant at the reception. They refused to help, and reacted hostile to the request, claiming that they never heard of this offer, and sent me off to deal with the restaurant staff, who of course could not help. Parts of the garden was not maintained, causing a lot of debris and mess in your room as you walk in and out. The dry leaves were not collected during our stay, also trash thrown away by random people was not collected. Other parts of the garden were kept groomed and tidy. Very basic kitchen. You can do the minimal cooking, but bring every special tool you might need if you want to cook. Noisy bedroom. We stayed in one of the Sirena Premium Apartments and the bedroom was going on the main road which was very noisy even in the night. No free parking. We were charged for parking despite free parking is advertised at the hotel’s website. Not much of a cost but leaves a bitter taste. We were invoiced in EUR, but charged in Kunas upon paying the invoice, so bring Kunas or be prepared for exchange fees if paying with your card. I had to exchange the cost of my stay twice because of this, adding a couple of per cent unexpected cost to the stay. Half board (Amfora restaurant): bottomline: doesn’t worth it. Breakfast was very poor and monotonous, even basic vegetables like tomatoes, salad were missing which is totally not understandable in the summertime Dinner was tasteless and lack of variety in the first 3 days of our stay, then a complete change: seafood was on the menu, fresh fruits and interesting desserts. Still it’s worth considering skipping the half board and test when you arrive if it’s up to your expectations. Pizza slices are the last resort for the dinner, with constant good quality Waiters are friendly, taking away dirty plates as soon as you put down your fork. There’s a large terrace where you can eat outside. Room tips: Avoid two bedroom suites. These are located at the two ends of the building, both are noisy and have high traffic Book the Sirena Premium Apartments on the ground floor with spacious balcony and sea view. Rooms above the ground level have no sea view because of the trees. Some of the apartments have smaller terraces than the others, but priced the same.

This is our second stay in Sol Katoro. This time we had one of the superor Apartments with a view of the bay and pool arera. The atmosphere is Nice and calm. The perfect spot for children to have fun and for adults to enjoy themselves. The city of Umag is full of nice restaurants, and though it is 4 km away it is easy to reach with the frequent trains driving all day long. Definetly worth a visit
