Good eating place near job site outside of Ulysses, Kansas. The café is run by sweet Mennonite women who make everything from scratch. They serve hot meals and sandwiches. Get there early or the lunch special may be sold out. Buy a dozen cookies as an afternoon snack for your crew.

The tavern just opened so I am hopeful that some of the issues get worked through. First the place was smoky from the grill, there was a smoke haze throughout the dining area. Second it was excessively slow. We waited over 45 minutes just to get our food. The menu is limited, mostly burgers but a few other items available. I had the bacon cheeseburger and it was cooked as ordered and tasted very good. Overall given the limited eating options in Ulysses this does make an okay choice.

Wow. This was probably the busiest place in all town. Tons of people inside eating and people waiting to get donuts. That's good to see since everything else was pretty dead.
Very good donut choices, maybe 20 or 25. Dozen donuts costs about $9.50 or so.
Would recommend to anybody wanting breakfast or picking up donuts for coworkers.

Stopped to eat here while visiting Ulysses and had some of the best Mexican food ever. Being from Kansas City I've sampled a lot of Mexican fare but Alejandro's was impressive. My wife and I were wanting some good food. The sign on the building was missing. However it is a must stop for some great food. We ordered out and waited. The restaurant was super cute. Plenty of tables for large parties. The are open 10am to 10pm everyday except Tuesday. I wasn’t really sure what I would get. I the best thing had to be the charred jalepeno. It still makes my mouth water writing about it. We ordered tacos and were up there in terms of tender steak and great blend of flavors. My wife ordered the side of beans and rice. I have to say they were as good as mami makes, god test her soul. They had the lime to squeeze on the side and I look forward to trying everything on their menu. I was sad I didn’t get to have the menudo.

This Pizza Hut has great food and during the lunch special they kept bringing on the new fresh pizza every 10 minutes, I could not believe how much Pizza they went through. They also did a really nice cherry dessert.

Having an early appointment, I stopped into the McDonald's to use the restroom about 6:40 am. The restaurant was open, well attended by staff, well lighted and very clean both insdie the bathroom and in the dining areas. Although I did not buy anything, staff was receptive and friendly. Later in the morning, I stopped in again, with a family member, this time purchasing a CinnaMelt and a McGriddle to go. Both of these items were fresh, at the appropriate temperatures, and service was prompt and efficient. About 4 and 1/2 hours later,we dropped in again, this time for lunch, ordering a four-piece Chicken Nuggets and the new (7-pc) Mighty Wings to go. I also asked for a small Coca-Cola and the lady taking orders let me know that for $1.00 I could get a large Coke, but the small was $1.20! I thought this was very kind of her to mention this, and I did get the larger size, which my companion and I split (we asked for an extra cup.) One last thing to note, when I was asked what kind of sauce I wanted I said, 'the hottest you have got' - I was given 3 picante sauce packets AND chipotle bbq sauce to go with my wings, which was very generous. It was overall very good food, both lunch and breakfast, much better than the typical McDonald's which usually struggles to even get the order straight and freshly prepared food is not the norm. Good work, Ulysses McDonald's!
