We read a lot of positive reviews about this place and decided to give it a try while staying in Diani. I'm sorry to say that we didn't have a good experience. The staff was very friendly, however they were slow and placed our order incorrectly. The kitchen also seemed to be backed up that night, as it took a very long time to receive our food. When it did arrive and we noticed it wasn't what we ordered, we were so hungry we decided to simply eat it because we didn't want to wait another 45 minutes for the correct food to arrive. The food we received (one of us got what we ordered the other did not) was only alright, neither of us were very impressed with the pasta dishes.
I don't generally leave negative reviews, but wanted to provide a contrast to all of the positive reviews as our experience did not seem to match that of many others. Maybe we just hit them on an off night.

You'd be hard pushed to find a more romantic place to dine than Ali Barbour's Cave Restaurant, set inside an ancient coral cove and lit by warm candlelight. The a la carte menu specializes in seafood, international & traditional cuisine and is accompanied by a great wine-list so take your time over dinner. The Restaurant opens every day from 7pm. Reservation Required.Courtesy transfer from Hotels in Diani.Dress Code: Smart casual. No shorts, no hats.We apologize we do not allow children 6 and under.Cigars from our humidor available.
Completely and utterly beautiful cave setting where you can see the stars shining above you, but food wasn't that good. Lacked authenticity for Italian food and I appreciate this is Kenya not the Italtian coast but it could have been a lot better. Seafood chopped up in seafood pasta instead of whole seafood and not massive on flavour. Also portion sizes felt too big for the pasta dishes. It was OK. Definitely go for the atmosphere and surrounding as it is gorgeous and the service is wonderful; maybe go easy on the food.

Beach Restaurant and Bar. Blue Marlin Beach Restaurant is known for its freshest seafood offering and breathtaking views of the Indian Ocean
Fantastic restaurant with marvellous views and ambience!
After spending nearly three weeks in Diani Beach I could safely say that Blue Marlin offers the best seafood in town. Creative recipes and fresh fish combined with impeccable service, fine music and spectacular views makes this restaurant an outstanding choice and my favourite place in town!
P,S, Cocktails are excellent!

The Best Italian Restaurant & Cafe in Diani Beach with wide selection of Tuscany meals, Wine and Ice cream
The most beautiful ambiance of any restaurant I've ever been in. Absolutely beautiful setting. Rich wood, decorated in red and grey with big cushy comfortable seats. The bruschetta and carbonara were divine. The bar is ideal for relaxing at and having a few drinks before you sit down to dinner. A must eat place in Diani Beach.

Located on the beach front within Almanara, this breathtaking piece of architecture is both stunning and unique. The sweeping sails and curving beams create an ambience unparalleled on the east coast of Africa. Executive Chef Luke Doig & his team are on hand for lunch and dinner to bring to you a variety of international flavours perfect for any mood. Fresh seafood is delivered daily by the local fishermen, allowing guests to sample all that the Indian Ocean has to offer.
A nice beautiful place with ok food right on the beach. This is one of the best restaurants in the area. I love the sails in the roof/decor. The lounge furniture might need some update. I think this place has more potensial. The night I was there it was a bit "slow". But go. It´s worth it.

Forty Thieves Beach Bar & Bistro: relax and savour the sensation of waves lapping your toes while having a refreshing cocktail, listen to live music, play bar games, watch water sports and have a delicious lunch with your friends and family.Disco into the early hours of the morning every night. All these can be done at this unique bar, the only one situated actually on the beach on the east African coastline. It is a vibrant atmosphere not to be missed.
Great ambience, but high pricing. should add more lounges by the beach instead of benches. It's one of the few open bars by Diani beach that is great. I would go back.

The food was absolutely delicious - coconut vegetable curry was exceptionally good! Favourite meal in Diani (we've eaten almost everywhere), and best price as well - the bill was really cheap for the amount of food we had. The atmosphere was also great, with friendly staff and nice music. Definitely recommend African Pot!!!

This was our favourite restaurant in Diani Beach during our holiday! Very nice and cozy interior and Terrace on the beachside, friendly staff and delicious food (especially drinks, fresh seafood and desserts) We came here for 3 times in 10 days of holiday and enjoyed it everytime. We didn't pay much for such a good quality of food and ambience. Really hope to come back here one day!

Colobus Shade is a sea food restaurant located south coast diani beach direct to indian ocean, we are 20 meters behind the main restaurant, we offer delicious sea food.
This is a really nice and unpretentious place with amazing views of the sea. It is actually located on the beach with limited Seating which makes it even more enjoyable. The food is very good..swahili style lobster and prawns are amazing... They do a wonderful cachumbari (swahili style salad). There is not much choice for vegetarians but i still highly recommend it

Having been to Lymingtons at the Diani Shopping Centre I expected that same setting, which is not the case. The entire complex is somewhat Bohemian, casual and very beachy. The food was good and the wine list extensive and it is very good value for money. At one point we were invaded with flies, but as the sun set this issue resolved itself with the help of a candle. Best to order praws after the sun sets! The main negative was the bar scene which was rowdy.
