We booked this through booking. Com for 3 nights so we could do the elephant safari and orphanage. When reading other reviews we thought it best to book half board. Oh boy what a great choice! This little resort comprises of just 3 cabanas, and a small restaurant/reception area. It's owned and run by husband and wife team Jayalath and Prasansha. We were welcomed by Prasansha who showed us to our cabana and explained a few details. One of them being the crocs outside the bathroom, just in case we need them in the shower to stop us from slipping, what a kind thought! The bed was very comfortable and very clean. Kettle, tea and coffee were available and a fridge with cold drinks, beer, nuts and biscuits at a very reasonable price. Outside there is a patio area with wooden deckchairs and table, and a hammock. Perfect for lazing! We had booked a half day safari with them at the time of booking, private jeep with an English speaking driver, so no need for a guide. He was amazing, with 8 years experience. and didn't follow all the other jeeps, he knew exactly where to go to give us the best safari. Breakfast too was provided overlooking the mountains. Idyllic! Breakfast here was typical SL cuisine, string hoppers, coconut roti, homemade pickles. Dinner was buffet style and so good! Prasansha asked us if we were vegetarian or if we didn't like too much spice, no on both counts for us! 10/10 for food and service. This little gem is perfect if you want a few days to do safari and orphanage (which is within walking distance). We were so warmly welcomed and really didn't want to leave so soon. Thank you guys for making this trip so perfect.

I stayed there for two nights while and did a safari with them. It was great! The rooms are an awesome budget option. Fantastic and delicious food which the host prepared for me at very cheap price. I was only able to eat half of the incredible banquet i was given. Very friendly and helpful with everything. They gave me room service for no extra price. Rooms were clean and nice to stay in. They organised a taxi from there to Ella for a good price also. Highly recommended going there

It’s ok - looks tired and run down. Kingsley, the manager seemed friendly. The lunch and dinner was a buffet style, not a lot of choice. The pool area was dirty and run down. Be careful when you order anything here, check the price. We had a buffet lunch and it was awful, the manager then charged us more then double what we would have paid anywhere else! Disappointing- they are suffering due to covid but should not overcharge customers because of this.

Very nice and attentive people running this place. We came with 8 friends in the evening and felt welcome from the first second. They cooked a very nice meal (and lunch the next day) which where both tasty and fresh. The Safari we booked here a well was also very well organised.

My family with our parents visited this beautiful property looking forward to some quiet family time on a long-awaited holiday. We had booked two cottages for 2 nights and arrived at the property by 12 noon. It was scorching hot and we could not wait to take a break after the long drive. There was only one guy - Nilanga to manage the property, cook and take care of our stay. Upon arriving we realized that he was not expecting us as the cottages were not cleaned and Ac was not on and the rooms were boiling. The entire property was dirty and lifeless as they had just opened after closing down prior to the lockdown. There was no welcome drink. The room had no drinking water, cups, tea-making facility or toilet paper. He told us to drink tap water and assured that he will set up everything soon. the TV was not working. I sat on the chair just outside our cottage only to be bitten by a bunch of Wasps why had built a wasp nest under the chair. Nilanga helped with cleaning up and joked that a foreighnor would appreciate the bite for the experience. I laughed through the pain. We asked for mortein to be sprayed but was not available. We asked for an onion to rub on the bites but never got it. Nilanga suggested that we go out have lunch and take the safari right away and he will have the property ready for us when we were back. He was promising and charming, so we took his word and left the premises with all our luggage. We checked out the Nil Diya Mankada hotel right on top of the same road as we did not have a good feel about Scenery already. However since the price was nearly double and since we did not feel right doing it knowing Nilanga must be doing his best to welcome us when we are back, we decided to go ahead and stay here. We returned to the cottages at 7pm. He gave us tea cups and kettle and left to the city for some of his work. We called and reminded him to bring some toilet paper which he never brought. We ordered bites which was served to us at 8.30pm after several calls. He apologized. He had promised us fancier bites with wildbow but apologized that he could only find sausages. We asked for dinner rightaway as we did not want to delay further, the day was long enough already. None of what he promised was done by our return. TV not fixed, no toilet paper or drinking water just some cinnamon tea bags and tea cups. Dinner was served around 9.30 and food was OK. Our room was fairly ok though it was only a double room and we three had to share a bed (They charged us for a triple) My parents bed was covered with a bed spread and they hit the ceiling when they took it off. The bed was covered with disgusting stains (pictures attached) and it was too late to do anything other than sleep. My parents barely managed the night on one bed. We had requested breakfast for 8am and told him to arrange anything that was convenient for him. My father had to take his medicine soon after bfast. At 9am he came and told me there was a small problem and there was no bread anywhere. No string hoppers and nothing for breakfast. I asked him what he can offer at least for my father. I told him to make a quick Kiribath. He said it will take time. I told him to go back to the town and bring whatever is there as we were starving already. At sround 10.00 he came with stale bread, 30 stringhoppers, small fish curry with 2 pieces of fish (for 5 pax) and sambol. We asked for butter but obviously that too was not available. We gulped down the food and were in a rush to leave back home then and there though we had planed to stay 2 nights. The most upsetting part that triggered me to write this lengthy review is that I was busy on a call while the bill was settled and my parents settled the final bill. The dinner (fried rice, chicken devil and fish devil out of lake fish) and bite cost Rs. 9000/- which is an exorbitant amount that we could have checked before. So this is our fault. But in spite of treating us like dirt, Nilanga had the Audacity to charge us a service fee of 10% of the room rates which resulted in an outrageous and unfair final bill that comes to more than Nil Diyamakada had we chose to stay there. I'm so upset that my parents paid this without questioning which will compliment Nilanga's behaviour to treat other guests the same way and charge more. Super disappointed at a rare weekend we all get being spoilt!
