Mayan ruins tower over the sea in Tulum. The formerly walled city was one of the last to be built by the Mayans, and its archaeological sites are incredibly well preserved. Take a break from the beach to visit El Castillo, the Temple of the Frescoes, and the Temple of the Descending God. Explore an underground river under a canopy of stalactites in the sacred caverns of LabnaHa Eco Park, or dive into Cenote Dos Ojos to snorkel inside of caves in the middle of a forest.

This is a tasteful decorated small hotel right on the beach. It is very well designed, so despite the hotel being on a small plot it maximise space. The pool starts almost as soon as you walk in and continues to the beach. Very clever. Stylish comfortable furniture and beds. Chic bar area. The best breakfast I’ve ever had, served to you, freshly prepared. Friendly helpful staff. Good location, within a short walk to two sister hotels you can also use & dine in. Two other small hotels and a beach bar within walking distance. There is also a cenote (sink hole) a short walk away. It’s situated on a strip a couple of miles long, housing about 50 fabulous villas, so we took a long walk along the beach each morning…. Dreaming of being rich! The hotel is situated about, 15 mins from old Tulum, we loved it.

¡HOLA! We had an absolutely great time at this beautiful establishment. We got caught in the rain and were greeted at the door with towels to dry off which we were extremely grateful for. Reyes was our server and he was more than amazing! He got us a fruity margarita while we waited for a gorgeous cabana that was on the beach. The food & drinks were delicious. We were celebrating my friends 21st birthday and she was surprised with a pineapple with sprinklers and tequila shots that we ordered! It was so much fun! The atmosphere is outstanding and the beach was beautiful. It was just the right temperature to have a great time. Hector was the manager on duty and he checked in with us to make sure we everything was going well (which is was). I definitely would recommend coming here! I will be back again!!!

We stayed here for a girls trip- and while it may seem like Mi Amor is more catered towards couples it could not have been a better spot for a girls trip! We LOVED how beautiful and intimate the property was- it felt like every person working there knew and remembered each guest. Seima COULD NOT have been more wonderful, from recommendations to arranging travel and making sure everything with our stay was perfect. The food was incredible, the drinks were amazing, and to have this tranquil little piece of heaven to come home to after a day at the beach or a night checking out the more lively restaurant and bar scene was perfect! Would HIGHLY recommend everything about staying at Mi Amor!

Introducing, PAPAYA PLAYA PROJECT , A MEMBER OF DESIGN HOTELS™ PROJECT a true sustainable project in Tulum. Having sought far and wide for a place to create an authentic, nurturing experience, the 900 meter stretch of oceanfront paradise cocooned on the Caribbean coast of the Mayan Riviera was the perfect spot. Together with the owners of of the existing Papaya Playa beach resort, Design Hotels™ is initiating the ultimate pop-up camp. Claus Sendlinger explains: “Our idea was to create a transitory, yet deeply culturally-rooted experience and we couldn’t have dreamed up a better place to make this happen. Capitalizing on the natural environment and multicultural character of Tulum, we quickly put together an international team of real visionaries, each enriching the experience with their own food, music, design or wellness concept. The enthusiasm and creative energy of everyone involved enabled us to renovate the camp and put together a holistic program within a very short period of time.” So come December, the authentic-pleasure seekers have a new raw-luxe camp they can sink and rub their feet into. Eighty-seven rooms have been renovated by the Design Hotels™ creative team. Integrating local materials and building techniques, they encourage its residents to soak in the warmth of the elements, both physically and mentally. The separation between man and nature diminishes in these rustic spaces while the perception of small indulgences – like high thread count sheets, flowing mosquito nets and thick towels – is heightened. The ultimate luxury in most of the cabanas, is the private porch, where hammocks gently swing guests into sync with Tulum’s laid-back rhythm.
It was very pleasant, the staff was friendly, for the most part professional, and very helpful. The hotel is one of the more beautiful design hotels I’ve been to, and the natural and sustainable elements were both present and very important to me. The had programming of some kind most days, although it’s important to note the Saturday party was very low key, without really much dancing, and the predominant age group is definitely mid to late 20s and early 30s. As two 18-year-old girls, the party scene was less exciting. But the meals and the restaurants and beach club were very good, although overpriced especially for Mexico, and the entire beach club experience was well thought out and luxurious while still being minimalistic and not dominating the natural beauty. We stayed in a cabaña, first in the jungle and then, in a beach front since our ceiling leaked during a huge storm. They handled that as quickly as they could and then upgraded us. A major highlight was the Sian Kite School located in between the two beach clubs. The instructors were great and extremely friendly and welcoming, and the gear was safe and great for beginners. It appeared to be very good for all levels, however my friend and I were decidedly beginners. The location of the hotel is a noteworthy point, also. We rented bikes and with the exception of one trip biked everywhere (cenotes, downtown, beach strip, etc). Papaya Playa is right in between the main beach strip area and downtown, about a 15-20 minute bike ride to either. That said we were on rickety cruisers (don’t get bikes from Ola bikes) and never biked extremely fast. It’s also unsafe to bike quickly, the roads are not phenomenal in Tulum and traffic in Mexico is different than in Europe and the US. The location is less important if you’re driving, but there aren’t a lot of parking spots in town (there is parking at the hotel for both cars and bikes). I had a really great time at this hotel, and when you’re in the season with no kelp it’s probably incomparable globally. The service, for the most part, aligns with expectations given the implied quality of Design Hotels and the price. The only complaint I have is that the front desk was fast to respond over WhatsApp but slow to execute on requests, and often required follow-up (from requesting more conditioner to a taxi). I will say if you asked in person they were able to get a taxi within 2 minutes consistently.

We booked a birthday trip to Mezzanine in Tulum and have been very impressed with the service, food and facilities. We arrived tired after traveling and were greeted with a margarita. The room is simple and well done, with a fantastic view. We had a small meal at the restaurant for dinner and our server David was professional, knowledgeable, and made us a table-side desert drink called a Mayan Sacrifice which we really enjoyed. Angelica, the concierge, helped us weeks in advance with airport transportation, a couple of tours we wanted to take, and dinner reservations. Can’t say enough good things about our experience, and we will be back.

Great hotel if you're looking for a place to stay in Tulum that has more amenities. The rooms are beautiful and clean with fast Wifi and AC. The hotel itself is bright and airy with food and coffee at your disposal. And a beautiful outside forest area. On top of that, it is located very close to the Cenotes and Tulum Ruins.

The experience I had during my stay here at the Conrad was unmatched. From before I had even flown in, Hugo had made sure I was able to safely arrive from the airport to the hotel without issue by arranging a ride for us. This was just one of many examples of stellar service that summarized my time at the hotel. The scenery was beautiful, the room was supremely luxurious, and the entire staff made me feel like family whenever I needed something. I was a huge fan of the food at the property, being asked about any dietary restrictions upon arrival at any of the several restaurants made me feel like my needs were being taken into consideration and the chefs never disappointed with a meal. Jesus was great at checking in on us while we were dining at the pool (which had the warmest water I’ve ever swam in, highly recommend) and making sure we were happy with how everything tasted. I can’t speak enough on how amazing everything was and I hope to go back soon.
