This is simple restaurant where the grilled fish is the king. There is a wide variety of fish to choose, including good price small fish (like sardine, bass, mackerel, squids, gilded catfish) but also prime quality large fishes such as grouper, snapper, sea bream, scorpion fish and rockfish, just to name some of them. If you want, the waiter brings you a couple of different fishes to the table for you to choose. The fish is grilled on charcoal, outside the restaurant, close to the entry.
We were a group of 5 persons. We have chosen a 2 kg rockfish whose
name in Portuguese is "rocaz". It was outstanding! It was very fresh and perfectly grilled (which was not straightforward given its size). The texture and the taste of the fish were sublime. Delicious! As appetizer, we ordered clams. But contrary to the fish, the clams were not god at all: they were mushy, without taste and too oily. For dessert, we ordered a cheese pie and an almond based dessert whose name I forgot. Both were delicious.
We paid 30€ per person (with wine), which is not cheap as we ordered only one portion of clams and two desserts!

When you go to a restaurant near the sea normally you want to eat good fish. That's what you have here. I had a speciality called "sea flavours". The name tells you little but it is small grilled squids with fried prawns on the top. But there are also many other good things to enjoy.

Oxala restaurant was born in 1991 and from year to year has become a reference for the restaurant area. Here everything is taken into account, from the personalized service, to tasty dishes and decoration. In our restaurant you will find a refined, spacious and pleasant place, located in front of Ovar's Marina, which gives it a privileged and beautiful landscape for a meal. - Welcome and meet us.
As soon as you entered into the restaurant you are received with a flute on a open area with large variety of cheese, bread, olive oil, bacon ...a paradise to the palato. Ze is one of the best men hosting the restaurant with a lot of knowhow about client satisfaction. There are several private rooms on the 3 different floors. We had Fish cooked in Salt. Wonderful!
A place visited by well known people but welcomes everyone as a VIP. One of the wonders of Portugal. ! (Better make a reservation)

Fantastic, Delicious Down-home Cooking, In Stylish, Appealing Setting, At The Edge Of A Lagoon.
After many years without going to that part of the world, I was taken to a very different Torreira, beautiful beach and fisherman village between the beautiful Ria de Aveiro and the Atlantic Ocean. I was taken to this small and simple restaurant by the Ria. And, what a great surprise... I had a wonderful fish, cooked (just grilled) to perfection and some beautiful clams and prawns to start with. It as simply great. The Terrace is very pleasant, only the service is bit slow and desorganised.

Facing the local fish market and the canal dos botirões, at the heart of Aveiro's historic center, O Bairro is the place where you'll have one of the best gastronomic experiences of your life. Starting with the "33cl de caldeirada", followed by the fish&seafood rice and finishing with our amazing dessert of "Ovo Mole à Bairro", for sure you'll want to come back on the next day to experience other deli...
Having tried another nearby restaurant the night before and been disappointed I consulted TripAdvisor more thoroughly for our second night's meal. On Reading about O Bairro's adventurous attitude to modern Portuguese food I booked by phone immediately in high hopes of a meal that would satisfy both stomach and pocket! We weren't disappointed! Although our waitress was a little severe she didn't lack any attentiveness to our needs - brisk and efficient service was the order of the day and I don't mind that. The food was excellent, especially the rightly applauded Risotto de Camarao and Prato Vegetariano. To complement the food we drank the waiter's recommended Lua Cheia Vinhas Velhas - excellent and only €12 the bottle. I finished off the meal with the chef's mystery dessert 'Misterio do Bairro' - I won't spoil the surprise but it was delicious! So choose this restaurant for at least one of your nights in Aveiro and you'll go away satisfied with happy memories. Costs was €65 for two all in.

The most ancient establishment baking Ovos Moles in town, Confeitaria Peixinho is the name of the tradition in Aveiro, following more than 160 years of experience, carrying the original values, art and magic of the recipe that delivers a magical experience for those who are fortunate to try it.
After our gondola tour of Aveiro, we found Confeitaria Peixinho on recommendation of TripAdvisor. We were glad we did. We tried several different pasties mmmm. I have been searching for good almond cookies, I found them here, the best I have tried yet, wish I had bought more of them. The oves moles are to die for. We purchased some fresh in a decorative container. They is no way to sit unfortunately, it is right by the main canal with many place to sit.

We were strolling around in Furadouro looking for an unpretentious fish-restaurant. A nice Portuguese couple recommended this place, situated a two minutes walk from the boardwalk in Furadouro. It was Sunday lunch-time and crowded - a good sign. This is what I call a solid Portuguese restaurant; the food is good and priceworthy.
