This vacation spot is a true quiet and relaxing area of the North Carolina coastline. Places to eat out, fish markets, fishing boats, ice cream, and small shops to enjoy. Just a fun, nature centered area.

This tour was quite enjoyable ! I think the time amount is perfect which was about 2 hours. We had Matt as our tour guide. He was very nice, informative and laid-back. We took my four and a half year old nephew. They had a life vest and small paddle for him. He loved the tour.?
Watching the sunset on the sound-side while kayaking was simply beautiful and relaxing. We come to topsail every year since 2000 and I have been wanting to do this for years and I think we will make it a tradition every year. I highly recommend the tour for couples or as a family.

It was a bit tricky to find – our sat nav took us round the back.
This is a great place.
When you enter you pay you $5 admission (well worth the money) and walk down the corridor. There are manned exhibits. Stop at each one in turn to learn about conservation and the ocean. Then move on to the “tank areas” one is the hospital, the other is the rehab area where the turtles recover before being released.
The volunteers are very friendly and knowledgeable, one even offered to take my phone over to the tanks that were furthest away to take photos for me.
A really interesting place, undertaking really wonderful work.
There is a small gift shop (got me some socks with turtles on), and toilets on site.
You must visit.

Here at EMA we believe that hands-on learning is the best kind of learning! We offer classes for kids ages 4-7 and ages 8-12. Our summer program consists of a variety of shorter (1 day or 3 day) programs and are designed to be fun and encourage children to explore the outdoors. We strive to ignite children's natural curiosity about the world around them while providing them with the knowledge and tools to preserve, protect, and enjoy our environment! We also offer a FREE Community Class every Tuesday at 1:00pm at the Kinston Street beach access! We can't wait to adventure with you!
We scheduled a Ghost Crab Monitoring session with Ecological Marine Adventures. We were impressed with the whole experience, and our kids loved it! The hosts were knowledgeable, excited about the event, learned the kids' names, and really tried to make it enjoyable for them. Kudos to EMA for making an excellent little event! We spent every night for the rest of our vacation using what we learned to look for ghost crabs!

This is a nice little relaxing spot in a little relaxing town. We just like to sit and watch the clouds roll by and the fishermen/women put their boats in the water. There's a playground for the children. There are also a few picnic tables under cover. They also have restrooms. We purposely drove here to watch the sunsets and were not disappointed.

This is my favorite jog at sunrise every year, from Queen's Grant down to the Surf City pier. Sometimes it takes me all week to get all the way down here. Leave as the sky lightens to get back before the sun gets punishing.

Such a nice gallery to visit. Sandy, the resident artist we spoke to, introduced us to the gallery and was very interesting to speak with. We bought a buoy (which we collect) and she signed it for us and drew a seagull on it which made it very special.

There's not much to do in Surf City/Topsail, NC -- but if you're there for vacation and looking for a quiet morning or a rainy day activity, this gallery is a great stop-in (and it's connected to Mystic Treasures Jewelry, which is an interesting stop in as well). The gallery (though small) has work by local artists about the area, which is nice -- and the owners are super nice.
Like I said, this is a great way to take a "break" from the beach, a quiet way to spend the morning, and/or a nice rainy day stop-in. But if you are a jewelry person (and particularly like maritime-inspired pieces), it is worth a stop in. (It's also across the hall from Mystic Treasures Jewelry which carries pieces made by local artists so it's like a two-for-one.)

We were lucky enough to be on the island the night after they opened. The space is beautiful, the beers we sampled were really distinctive and good, and it was a very cool atmosphere. Seemed like a nice mix of visitors and locals. The owners are very personable and the merchandise is better than most bars! It’s a must visit if you’re near Topsail.
