This walking trail takes approx.45 minutes to walk around the coastline with seats along the trail to sit and take in the water view.At the end of the trail there is a red barn that belongs to my wife’s brother, with a couple of horses in the field. This trail connects unto to another trail if you want a longer walk.

The admission allows you to visit the museum, see a film on the restoration of the lighthouse as well as enter the lighthouse. There is a trail to the lighthouse with markers to point out the native plants and flowers. Take your time on the walk to drink in the scenery and the beauty of the rugged coastline. Then you reach the lighthouse and can go inside which is a step back in time. The views are awesome.Don't forget to visit the well stocked gift shop. There is also a clean restroom for your use.

My husband and I have visited Newfoundland every July for the past 24 years and this is one of our stops. There is a viewing platform with displays about the Dorset people and a nice museum too. You walk down a gravel road to the rocky coast and can see why the lighthouse is here. The trees are "flagship" from the wind and you can see ocean all around. What could be better.

We offer a daily ferry service between Port aux Basques, Newfoundland and Labrador and North Sydney, Nova Scotia. Between June and September, we also offer a ferry service between Argentia, Newfoundland and Labrador and North Sydney, Nova Scotia.
Heading out on a two-week motorcycle tour of Central NL in early August we left on our anniversary day and had a very relaxing crossing; used the bar, the dining room and the seating lounge where we had purchased a key card for access. The boarding on the ferry was very organized, ample room for motorcycle parking and enough straps available. The lady working at the bar was super friendly. The staff in the family restaurant were a bit stressed; it was very busy; the fish & chips we ordered were very good. Outside the lounge, there was a coffee/ice cream bar and the wall between it and the lounge had some openings in the wall as part of the decor so it wasn't as quiet in the lounge as advertised on the website. When trying to rest it was annoying. Our return crossing NL to NS on a rainy day was spent in the lounge recliners with books and coffee. Again, the sounds from outside the lounge were distracting for those trying to rest.
