We had been to the Netherlands recently and wanted to see how an American village grew from the old country roots. We were not disappointed. Lots of old buildings with artifacts from the original settlers, and a working, new, windmill. Very impressive. Worth a few hours of your time.

If you're in town and there is something to see, I recommend stopping. The outside is beautiful and restored nicely.

You are always welcome at the Pella Public Library! Stop by for local information, free WiFi, and the latest magazines and newspapers. Or, simply relax and enjoy watching the birds in our aviary! Found this museum to be an incredible step back in time...It follows from Vermeer first invention all the way to today. The heritage of Vermeer is well displayed and this is worth a visit.

The lady at the Pella visitor center mentioned to me that the "klokkenspel" (carillon) would play at 11:00 AM (every day). You will hear about four tunes ans see some dolls move behind the windows above the archway (both sides). "Tulips from Amsterdam" was one of the tunes played. A nice intermezzo while walking around in the "very Dutch" part of Pella.

Stopped in for a craft beer while visiting Pella. Wonderful selection of national and local craft beer in a nice atmosphere with friendly and knowledgable staff. The staff make you feel welcome and are happy to help you find a craft beer you will enjoy. I am a craft beer "newbie" and really liked the staff's down-to-earth and friendly attitude - no beer snobbery - just folks sharing their love of craft beer. I tried a couple of local Iowa brews which were both very good. Uniquely, they also serve Bloody Mary's - I did not try them but they looked good. Food was being delivered to tables from George's Steak and Pizza right across the street. I will be back the next time I travel through the area.

We stopped for a round here on our way through Pella. It was in great shape; the carts were comfortable; the cart paths paved. It was not easy, but we enjoyed the terrain changes, forced carries, water and woods. The greens fees were good, especially since we are seniors. We plan to return with friends sometime. When combined with the appeal of Pella's Dutch heritage, this is a great destination.

I love going to Pella around April-May where all the tulips are up. They usually have this Pella Tulip Time festival where there are parades in the afternoon and evenings. Shows, singing and dancing showcasing the Dutch heritage. By the famous square, they also have local bakery, restaurants and stores in Dutch motif. I love Jaarsma and never miss their pastries when you visit there.

it has a windmill and a pond in front of the windmill, very good picture-taking place, nice and not much people there, so you can enjoy the the whole place with your family, there would be tulips in the early May, but when we came there in late May, already no flowers, yet the view is good, and you can sit on the grass for picnic.
